Hang out with the gang at Sacred Heart Hospital in Scrubs for the BlackBerry PlayBook

If you've always wanted to work in a hospital, or just really loved the show Scrubs, you'll be happy to know that Herocraft has finally brought this popular game over to the BlackBerry PlayBook. Work alongside JD, Turk, Carla, Elliot, Cox, Kelso, and even the janitor to solve puzzles and put right all the things that are wrong at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Varied gameplay genres: hidden object, quest, adventure and puzzles

Medical based mini-games

A dozen familiar game locations

All your favourite Scrubs characters

Humourous comic book style graphics

Black comedy storyline

Scrubs is a really entertaining game whether you're a fan of the show or not. Anyone that enjoys a good hidden object game is sure to have some fun with this one, and the mini-games are entertaining as well. However, be prepared to hand your PlayBook over if the kids catch you playing because they'll enjoy it too. There's a bit of reading involved though, so the younger ones might need a bit of help. You can get Scrubs for your PlayBook for just $1.99 at the link below.

Give your memory a workout with Rune Cryption for the BlackBerry PlayBook

I have always loved memory games, ever since I was a kid. I'm getting older and I still want to be as sharp as I was back then (or try to be, at least), so I like to play puzzles and memory games a lot. If you're like me then you should give Rune Cryption a try. It's great little memory game for the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Rune Cryption is a simple game but it is beautifully executed and I love the vibrant colors within the game. There are three modes of game play each with three levels of difficulty. The idea of the game is to put back the stones into the position presented to you at the beginning of each level, of course with each stage increasing in difficulty. You can get hints to remind you of where the stones go and also have a check option but these of course deduct from your final points. Also, the longer you take to complete the level goes against you too.

The three different game modes are:

Puzzle Mode: Solve the puzzle without time limits. Solve the puzzle quickly to score bonus points!

Challenge Mode: Solve the puzzle before time runs out!

Speed Play: Solve as many puzzles as you can before the clock expires.

Check out the video above for a quick demo of the game and if it's your type of game, why not give it a go. It's available in App World already for $0.99 and will also be available for BlackBerry 10.

Guide Emily out of the monster house in Emily and the Magic Maze for the BlackBerry PlayBook

Halloween may be over but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy a Halloween themed game, right? Didn't think so. One that I has been quite enjoyable is Emily and the Magic Maze for the BlackBerry PlayBook. The idea is simple, guide Emily through a series of rooms while collecting candy and avoiding obstacles.

It may seem very simple at first but you'll soon find it become more challenging, with more obstacles to overcome, more ghosts and ghouls to avoid, gates, levers, spikes, boiling pots, it's a fun game. You also get some power ups yourself, in the form of magic potions to help you get through some levels. There are 24 levels as of now and I am only up to level 15. Not sure if there will be more levels added in the future but I would sure like to see more.

The best part of this game is that it is free. However, this is a game that I would have gladly paid for. Check out the video above for a quick demo. It's available in BlackBerry App World today and like I said it's free.

King Oddball is a strange bit of fun for your BlackBerry PlayBook

There are plenty of games out there where you fling/launch/throw an object at various structures, hoping to demolish them, but there is good reason for it. They're fun! The latest on the BlackBerry PlayBook scene is called King Oddball, and is brought to us by 10tons Ltd. Combining simple physics with a bit of luck, your task is to smash the tanks, helicopters, and structures with boulders. But King Oddball lives up to his name, and he flings the boulders with his tongue, plucking them from the sky one-by-one.

Earth shaking massive physics action

More than 120 levels + secrets!

15 achievements

Eccentric art style

Original music by Jonathan Geer

I really like the graphic style of King Oddball, and the subtle humor and attention to detail really sold me on the game overall. If you're a fan of Angry Birds or Crush the Castle, you will enjoy playing King Oddball. And even if you're not a fan of those franchise games, this one is just quirky enough that it might warrant a look. You can grab it for $2.99 at the link below.

More information/purchase King Oddball

Hidden Galaxies: A Voyage Home is now available for the BlackBerry PlayBook. We first took a look at Hidden Galaxies back in September, when Bla1ze got a demo of it from Troy of Magmic at BlackBerry Jam Americas. While this game falls in the 'search for the hidden object' genre, the approach is pretty unique, and the graphics are incredible.

Oh no! While returning home with valuable cargo to be used to power the core of their dying planet, the Eepmons’ spaceship has been sucked into a wormhole. Now the crew and the cargo are missing! The only one left onboard is first technical officer, Eep. Help him search the galaxies to find his missing crew and precious space junk, so they can return home and save Planet Eepmon from certain destruction. Hidden Galaxies is a challenging hidden object game featuring the stunning art of renowned international artist eepmon. Find all the hidden objects and missing crew and you can save the planet.

Shoot some dudes for free with Monster Dash for the BlackBerry PlayBook

As far as I am concerned there is nothing better than finding a great, fun game for the PlayBook that is free and Monster Dash is just that.

The plot is simple. You control an elite soldier who runs from left to right and as well as jumping over obstacles you must shoot the bad guys that are out to get you. With your lives shown as hearts on the top right of the screen you can pick up more along the way but fall down a hole and it is game over. In terms of weapons there are a selection to collect along the way. The flame-thrower is a personal favourite of mine.

One extra thing about the game I love is that with each new game you get a different background and also the enemies change. On one level you are up against Mummies! Not your mom sort but the ones with bandages!

And that's about it. Simple, great graphics and sound, and free. What more do you need. Go grab the download from the link below. Go on, what you waiting for?

Can you make Herbie fly? Give it a try with FlyCraft for the BlackBerry PlayBook

Another challenging game arrived for the BlackBerry PlayBook this week - this time in the form of FlyCraft. Not just another port from a different OS, FlyCraft was created exclusively for the PlayBook over the month of October. The object of the game is to build a flying machine for your bug, Herbie, and fly as far as you can which will earn you points and extra tools to use on your mean machine. You will start with a small selection of objects to use but the more you progress the more objects you will unlock to assist you in your flight. There are currently 10 unlockable gadgets with more to follow in future updates.

Features of FlyCraft include:

Spend countless happy moments testing every gadget

Tune every angle of your machine to create the best possible flight

Unlock special thrust-items like the soda can, the propeller and the mighty rocket to unleash extra power through your flight time

Features 10 unlockable gadgets (more to come soon) to use on your creations.

Extra free bonus gadgets are earned the more you play and the more distance you cover.

Scoreloop leaderboards and achievements to compete with your friends

I must warn you - this game is very challenging. It really takes some getting used too, but that's not a bad thing. At $1.99 it is reasonably priced and with beautiful smooth graphics and quaint sound effects the price tag is value for money.

Have some Halloween fun with Spooky Search for the BlackBerry PlayBook

Growing up one of my favorite brainstorming activities was word search puzzles. There's nothing more fun than searching through the grid of jumbled letters to discover the ones you need. Fraser Hay has decided to take that classic game and add a Halloween twist with Spooky Search for the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Each puzzle presents you with a list of Halloween themed words on a tombstone that you must swipe to select in the scattered game board below. It's filled with creepy Halloween sounds and graphics and as you glide your finger across the screen to reveal the hidden words bats and witches fly around screeching and cackling.

While children will certainly love the effects and the music, this is fun for the whole family. Spooky Search may be simple but it offers a smooth interface, is entertaining, is great for passing the time on Halloween, and is free to download.

Magic Wingdom for the BlackBerry PlayBook is a fresh take on the action-puzzle genre

Magic Wingdom for the BlackBerry PlayBook is a familiar feeling puzzle game with enough of a twist to make it unique and entertaining. As colored eggs roll out across your screen, you have to react quickly to draw a line between them, matching the colors. The more eggs of one color you can connect with a single swipe the better, as you'll earn power ups, coins, and special abilities. Don't let eggs of different colors touch or it's game over! The game speeds up progressively as you play, making it harder and harder to create combos before colors smash into each other.

Unique Gameplay Mechanics

3 Game Arenas

4 Yards to unlock and enhance

6 special upgradable power-ups

Over 20 achievements to unlock

PlayCreek Quality Guarantee

This game was created by the same folks that brought us another of my favorites, Death Worm. The graphics are smooth and the concept, though similar to other games you may have played, is fresh enough that you won't be saying "oh, another one of THOSE games". There are even mini-quests that you can complete. Buy a chicken, decorate its yard, feed it, etc with the coins you earn by matching eggs. Grab Magic Wingdom today for your BlackBerry PlayBook from App World for just a buck and you'll be swiping and slashing in no time!
More information/purchase Magic Wingdom

With just a couple of weeks left until Halloween, kids everywhere have candy and costumes on the brain. Keep them occupied until it's time to Trick or Treat with Halloween Arcade for the BlackBerry PlayBook. For just $2 you get 8 casual games including: Kid-n-Zombies, Zombie Frenzy, Haunted House Shoot, Halloween Clix, Pumpkin Shoot!, Pumpkin Up, Zombie Jump, and Pumpkin Pop!

Each game features its own Halloween themed graphics, music, and sound effects. While the games are all "pick up and play", meaning no real story lines or in-depth play, that hardly means that your kids (and you!) won't enjoy playing them. They are quite fun and hard to put down once you get started. At only $.25 per game, you really can't beat Halloween Arcade for some quick zombie/pumpkin/ghost themed entertainment.

Purchase Halloween Arcade

If you’re sitting around with nothing to do on a Friday night, you may want to open up App World on your BlackBerry PlayBook as Rovio has pushed out an update to the Angry Birds franchise. The latest update for Angry Birds brings the game up to version 2.3.

The Bad Piggies don’t just have a new game – now they’ve taken over Angry Birds with 15 of the PIGGEST levels ever!

So why wait for Rovio to bring the full Bad Piggies game to the BlackBerry PlayBook? Download the update for Angry Birds and get in on the action now! If you haven’t purchased Angry Birds yet I recommend doing so; it’s available in BlackBerry App World for $4.99.

Can the blue guys beat the red ones in Fillit for the BlackBerry PlayBook?

Fillit for the BlackBerry PlayBook may not be a revolutionary game as the concept has been around for some years on iOS but it is great fun. The game is free to download from BlackBerry App World and quite simply you need to fill up over 50% of the screen with your funky blue 'sphere' things without getting caught by the bad red ones.

And that's it. Simple, pretty and it sure is enjoyable. Maybe one of those games perfect for the commute to work or if you just have a few minutes to spare. Once the game is over you have the chance to upload your score, and in my case see how bad I was at it.

I would highly recommend giving Fillit a try. I think you may be surprised at how addictive it can be.

Can you get Kiwi accross the globe? Give it a shot with Fly Kiwi Fly for the BlackBerry PlayBook

Fly Kiwi Fly is a nice new animated game that arrived in BlackBerry App World just a few days ago. It is certainly different from all the other games I have played before on the BlackBerry PlayBook but the word on the street is that Fly Kiwi Fly has had huge success on other platforms.

The purpose of the game is to get Kiwi to fly as far as possible. Clearly Kiwi's can't actually fly so you will need to earn money along the way and spend it wisely in the shop to purchase aids to make Kiwi fly as far as he can. You use the PlayBooks tilt controls to move Kiwi as he soars though the air and you can earn addition money buy collecting money bags along the way. Kiwi can also perform some mid air stunts which will help you on your quest along, with useful upgrades.

The game is colourful and smooth and although it will set you back $2.99/£3.00 it is enjoyable and I would say worthy of its price tag. Will you be able to get Kiwi from New Zealand to the USA? Only one way to find out and that's to give Fly Kiwi Fly a go. Please let us know your thoughts in the comments - its always great to see what games appeal to our readers.

Remember the Commodore Amiga from the old days? If you are as old as me then you may well do. The good news for those of you that are lucky enough to own a BlackBerry PlayBook is that a bunch of Amiga games have arrived in BlackBerry App World over the last day or so. There looks to be about fifteen classics including Turrican, Xenon, Alien Breed, and several others, so if you fancy reminiscing then pop on over and get downloading.

I was more of a Spectrum kinda guy when I was a youngster so no video demonstrations for you on this occasion but our good man Zach may well hop on the bandwagon and review a few. In the meantime feel free to head on over to our forums and discuss the good old days with the rest of the CrackBerry Nation.

Death Worm comes to the BlackBerry PlayBook

Death Worm is one of those games that you don't know that you want until you have it. Unless you've played it on a different platform, or similar giant worm games, you might look right over it and not give it a second look. But Death Worm by PlayCreek is a game that's pretty hard to put down once you start playing, and it's now available for the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Game play is deceptively simple. Move the worm around the playing field with one hand, and use power-ups such as turbo and fireballs with the other. And the whole time, eat all the people, birds, camels, elephants, Jeeps, ambulances, tanks… you get the idea.

The game features:

60 levels on 4 different locations

3 bonus mini-games

explosive survival mode

50 enemy types

4 worm types

The addictive facet of the game is likely related to the fast paced nature of each level. When you beat your current goal, the new goal to beat to level up flashes on the screen, so there is no down time between levels. You just keep eating, blowing things up, and growing your worm (so to speak).

Death Worm is just $1.99 in BlackBerry App World, and in my opinion it's worth every penny. I downloaded the game tonight as soon as I saw it was available and immediately lost 30 minutes playing it. Let us know what you think in the comments if you play it.

HeroCraft releasing Hearts of Iron Mobile for the BlackBerry PlayBook October 4th

It looks like October 4th will be launch day for another big name on the BlackBerry PlayBook from HeroCraft. Hugely popular strategy game Hearts of Iron will be making the move from Mac/PC to not only the PlayBook, but a few other tablet platforms as well. Hearts of Iron was originally released in 2002 for Windows PCs, and since then has also been made available for Mac, with several sequels and expansion packs added to the line as well. The game is set in the years 1936-1948, and puts you in control of any nation you wish during World War II. Depending on the outcome of strategies you choose, you are awarded points which will determine the outcome of the game.

We don't have a lot of details on this release yet, but you can watch the promo trailer above for a tease. I wouldn't be surprised if we see this announced officially at BlackBerry Jam at the end of September.

Since the early days of the BlackBerry PlayBook, Gameloft has been bringing new titles onto the platform at a steady cadence. Recently they launched yet another chapter to their popular Modern Combat franchise, Modern Combat 3. The new addition continues on what the others have started, but pushes the envelope just a bit more. The developers of this game say that the game features next generation graphics. But does the game live up to the hype? Continue reading for the full CrackBerry review of Modern Combat 3 for the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Defend the villagers in ImmorTall for the BlackBerry PlayBook

With mobile devices crashing upon the world and developer’s building applications and games for them at such a fast rate, it's hard to remember that there can be more to a game than just flinging birds or cutting the ropes. This game I’m about to introduce to you is almost a cross between a game and story, and it truly shows you that there can be more. The game itself if available on the BlackBerry PlayBook, and is a free download.

“Take a poignant walk through the life of an alien caught in the midst of humanity.”

I introduce you to ImmorTall. ImmorTall is clear evidence that a game can not only entertain you for a few minutes, but it can also cause you to become attached to the main character. The premise behind the game is that you’re an alien that has fallen from the sky and you are on a mission to get home. As you progress over the country landscape you meet up with humans -- both good and bad -- and your job is to protect the good ones. The game is very simple, but I challenge you to download it, get past the simplicity and connect with the character. ImmorTall is available on the BlackBerry PlayBook for free via BlackBerry App World.

Get ready to fire up those little grey cells with Who Got Brains!

My favorite detective in Agatha Christie novels always talks about his "little grey cells" and what he must do to keep them sharp or from "growing the rust". Well Mr. Poirot, Xlabz Technologies may have just the game for you! Who Got Brains is among one of Xlabz many games/apps that are currently available for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Xlabz has already brought us some great games and apps like The Logo Game, Uber Iris and Sketch W Friends. Who Got Brains, despite the vernacular name, is quite an interesting game.

Who Got Brains is designed to test the 4 key areas of your brain: Analytical, Memory, Math and Visual. While racing against the clock, quickly work your way through several mini-games to keep your “little grey cells” happy!

It's been a few months since we last saw an update to Angry Birds Seasons for the BlackBerry PlayBook, but the day has come and v2.6 is now available to download! In the update you will find not only a new pink bird, but Rovio has also added in two more levels for your bird flinging pleasures. The first is Piglantis with some interesting twists involving water, and the second is Back To School with all the elements you remember from the schoolyard and classroom. The new levels join the other Seasons levels which include Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Moon Festival and more!

If you don't already own Angry Birds Seasons, you can pick it up for your BlackBerry PlayBook for $4.99 in BlackBerry App World at the link below!

Protect your domain with People On My Lawn!

While the BlackBerry PlayBook makes for a fantastic professional grade tablet, it also is quite an excellent little gaming machine. Whether you have a few minutes to kill, or hours to spend waiting before your next important task, sometimes the best way to pass the time is with a great game. People On My Lawn is one of those games that can be picked up for a quick level of play, or played for hours trying to figure out how to pass the next level. What is great about this game is that unlike many others, some real thought is required, and a lot of trial and error goes into solving each level.

The concept is simple, destroy the human who is standing on your property, accomplishing this however is the difficult task. Your character, an alien, holds a rocket launcher that shoots rockets to destroy the human, and magnetic type pieces are used to create a track. There are red and blue pieces, each acting as opposite of each other, and creating guidelines for the rocket to follow. Each level starts off with the placement of one color, and you then need to use the opposite color to continue the track for rocket, but be careful with placement, a bit too high or low and you will send the rocket where you didn't expect.

Each level gets progressively harder, requiring more thought in the placement, and a lot more trial and error. Each time you miss it makes you want to get it the next time, and creates anticipation until the level is finally passed. For free, this game definitely keeps you entertained, and provides a fun yet challenging experience on your PlayBook. Be sure to hit the link below to download it for yourself, and let us know your thoughts on it!

Watch out for the zombie chickens with Bad Egg for BlackBerry PlayBook

Every once in a while I download a PlayBook game from App World with no intention of recording a video for the site, as many just are not up to par. Bad Egg was one of those but after playing it for a while I discovered it is actually a pretty cool game. As you will see in the video, your job is to control 'Peeps the chicken' and knock off from your platform the eggs that fall from the sky. Failing to do so before they hatch is a disaster as they will hatch into zombie chickens!

There are two versions of the app - a free one and a paid edition (for £1.00) although I can't see what the difference is. Both have the same three levels - so for now I would stick with the free one. The game is probably targeted at kids and they will love it for sure, however there is something strangely satisfying about the game and I found myself getting quite into it.

The gameplay is smooth and the graphics are decent, however sounds are limited with just the occasional noise when a zombie chick hatches. It would be nice to have some funky music to play along to. For a free PlayBook download Bag Egg is worth checking out. It may not be the most exciting game but for killing some time or keeping the kids entertained it is perfect.
