Official OS 6.0.0.650 for the BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9100 now available from SK Telecom

Pearl 3G users haven't seen a new OS update in quite a while, but today we have one hot off the presses. SK Telecom has released OS 6.0.0.650 for the BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9100. Nothing in yet on whats changed in this one, but if you're using a 9100 or 9105 then fire up that USB cable and get to installing. Be sure to leave a comment with your findings. As always, use caution when installing any new software on your device.

Although the BlackBerry Pearl 3G may not have gained the same consumer love the original BlackBerry Pearl 8100 did in its day, it's still a great device especially if you're looking to get a new BlackBerry without breaking the bank. Right now, Virgin Mobile Canada is offering the BlackBerry Pearl 3G for only $150 and that is with no contract required. Even if Virgin Mobile isn't your carrrier -- you can have the device unlocked for a few dollars and use it on any GSM carrier you wish.

Sprint officially released OS 6.0.0.600 for the BlackBerry Bold 9650 yesterday, and here we have two more of the same for both the Bold 9780 and Pearl 3G. Vodafone has officially released OS 6.0.0.600 for these devices so if you're a Pearl 3G or Bold 9780 user get out those USB cables and try this one out. No reports of the good or bad on these just yet, so be sure to leave a comment or hit the forums for more.

Here's one for the Pearl 3G users. OS 6.0.0.570 has leaked and is ready for the taking. This one is fresh so be sure to cruise by the forums if you do install and let us know whats good, bad or ugly. This one is good for both the 9100 and 9105, so you have no excuses! As always, use caution when installing any OS on your device.

Saskatel has officially released a new OS for the Pearl 3G. OS 6.0.0.534 is now available and ready to go. Pearl 3G users with either the 9100 or 9105 can give this one a go. Reports are pretty good so far, so if your USB cable is handy then give this one a whirl. As always, use caution when installing any OS on your device.

Official OS 6.0.0.526 for the BlackBerry Pearl 3G from Rogers

It's only been a short while since BlackBerry Pearl 3G owners had some official OS love. Last update being, OS 6.0.0.481 from Telus made some users happy but now, Rogers has gone ahead and released OS 6.0.0.526 for all. You can hit up the Rogers BlackBerry download page to grab the update and of course, if you're not a Rogers user -- just simply delete the vendor.xml file and you are up and running. Only to fair to note, this update works on the 9105 as well. Thanks, rroyy!

OS 6.0.0.481 has popped up for this device, so if you're rockin' a Pearl and want something to do today, go ahead and give it a go. Just like other leaked OS', this one is not official in any way so be sure to back up all your data if you decide to load it up. Aircel releases official OS 6.0.0.380 for the BlackBerry Pearl 3G

Although it lags behind the leaked OS' for the Blackberry Pearl 3G, Aircel has now made OS 6.0.0.380 official and available for download from their Blackberry site. If you're not already running one of the higher, leaked OS you'll certainly want to get in on some official goodness. If you're not an Aircel user though, please be sure to remove the vendor.xml file before installing and also make sure to back up your device. If you're looking to get a deal on a no contract, BlackBerry Pearl 3G and live in Canada, TELUS is looking to hook you up. Be it in Black or in Pink, TELUS is willing to sell you either or for only $200. Which is a pretty sweet deal for a brand new, unopened, no contact device from any carrier.

To put some comparison on that pricing, if you were to go to AT&T right now and ask for a BlackBerry Pearl 3G with no contract you would be looking at paying $549.99. Also, if you're in the US and lucky enough to have some Canadian friends they might be able to hook you up. No details as to when the sale might end but I'm guessing it won't last too long.

AT&T BlackBerry Pearl 3G Review

While I was never a Pearl user in the past, something about the Pearl 3G intrigued me since we first saw it pop on the radar back at WES 2009. Many users got their start with a Pearl and either stuck with it or moved on to a full QWERTY device. I never had the pleasure of rocking one myself so I've been a bit anxious to get my hands on a Pearl 3G and put it through my day. While I claimed on our WES bloggers reactions video that purple was the way to go, I really am impartial for the most part when it comes to color. My AT&T Pearl 3G is the sweet faded red and that's fine by me. Keep reading for my thoughts on the BlackBerry Pearl 3G from AT&T.

BlackBerry Pearl 3G owners, if you're looking for a new OS to check out that's higher then any leak out there for your device then you'll want to grab the latest official OS from Pelephone. OS 5.0.0.972 has gone official and is now available for download. Of course, if Pelephone is not your carrier you'll want to delete your vendor.xml file but, after that you'll be good to go. Are any of you Pearl 3G owners out there just wishing BlackBerry 6 would drop for your device just as much as the BlackBerry Bold 9700 owners? Just curious, if so comment and let us know.

AT&T announces BlackBerry Curve 3G and BlackBerry Pearl 3G as coming soon

After a long wait, AT&T has finally made it public information that they will indeed be offering the BlackBerry Pearl 3G and the BlackBerry Curve 3G. Why exactly, it took AT&T so long to add the Pearl 3G to their line up we're still not really certain as of yet. One guess is that they were waiting for BlackBerry 6 to get to a more ready stage and then make the device available and now, in that time the BlackBerry Curve 3G has also become available. With offering both those and the BlackBerry Torch it gives AT&T a strong BlackBerry lines up and when BlackBerry 6 rolls out for them all, it should put them in line to be the carrier with the most BlackBerry 6 capable devices. We've seen BlackBerry 6 leak already for the Bold 9650 and Curve 9330 onto the interwebs. We're still waiting to see it leak (or get officially announced) for the Bold 9700, Pearl 3G and Curve 9300. Hopefully it won't be long now, as RIM was showing BB6 off on these devices at the Opening Reception at the BlackBerry Developer Conference 2010. Note - free booze was served at this event so it's not quite as solid of a BlackBerry 6 first look as we did at the Torch launch, but if you own one of these devices and are waiting on BlackBerry 6 for it you'll want to watch!

AT&T to finally get the Pearl 3G and Curve 3G October 3rd?

It's pretty surprising that no major US carriers (aside from Cincinnati Bell) have picked up the Pearl 3G yet. It was expected months ago, but for some reason is nowhere to be found. Well Engadget is reporting that it may finally be showing up on AT&T in less than a month. According to a rumored device list, both the Pearl 3G and Curve 3G will be making their way to AT&T (with a bunch of other devices) on October 3rd. So if you've been missing out on some SureType action, you won't have to wait much longer.

Monthly plan prices vary depending on your use, but it's overall a good buy and worth being free from a lengthy contract. Bell holding back BlackBerry 6 updates until 2011?

Sure seems that way. Some leaked documents from Bell Mobility show that BlackBerry 6 isn't set for release on other capable devices until 2011. While Bell is set to release the BlackBerry Torch 9800 anytime now, the newly announced BlackBerry Curve 3G nor the BlackBerry Pearl 3G will get it right away, let alone the previously released BlackBerry Bold 9700.

As we've seen in the past carriers are often terribly slow to update to new OS' which, for customers is never really a good practice to see happening. While this information only gives us a look at Bell, it could be rather indicative of other carrier plans as well. Just look how long it took AT&T to release OS 5.0 for the BlackBerry Bold 9000. As BlackBerry users we always want to have the latest updates and that often means relying upon leaked OS' or using OS' from other carriers that are more liberal with their updates. Truly hoping Bell decides to change this plan, in the long run it's not great for their customer base to be stuck on an older OS.

Press Release: Research In Motion unleashes BlackBerry 6

Along with the announcement of the BlackBerry Torch 9800 came the announcement of BlackBerry 6. Since the BlackBerry Torch 9800 will be the first device running on BlackBerry 6 a press release for BlackBerry 6 in general has been released on it's own. Hit the jump for the full details from that release. The news we all wanted can be found in this statement:

BlackBerry 6 will debut on the new BlackBerry® Torch™ smartphone (announced today) available from AT&T on August 12 and it is also designed to run on select BlackBerry smartphones already in market. Subject to carrier certifications in the months ahead, the new OS is expected to be available for the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700, BlackBerry® Bold™ 9650 and BlackBerry® Pearl™ 3G, as well as future BlackBerry smartphones.

Now all we need is a really fast roll out to other devices and even faster carrier adoption.
