She became the first female solo artist to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Nicki Minaj performing exclusive concert for BlackBerry subscribers in Manila

Ugh, I hope they plan on doing this kind of stuff when BB10 launches, seems like a total waste to me to do all these promos now when the phones will be obsolete by the end of the year, which will further enrage people about RIM.. I expect even bigger promos when BB10 launches or it will be a massive fail.

The phones will in fact not be obsolete by the end of the year. There will simply be something higher-end, for those that can afford it. Remember that not everyone has the money for a $700 phone and an expensive data plan. These phones are great for developing countries, and if I lived in the Phillipines, I would be happy to have one of these Curves.

These phones are great for *any* country. I just got a 9320 with Virgin and that little sucker is a messaging workhorse. 3 days in a row without battery charging. Can you do that with a high end 9900? ;-)

I'm not discrediting the Curve line as being anything less than a high end phone, but certain spec differences show it. People like to say certain phones are better than others, when really it's all about the the specific person likes and needs. So to you, I'm glad you love your Curve! It's what you like and need and I say that is just great! :)

By this logical approach, since the iPhone 4 and Galaxy S III came out no one is using the iPhone 3, 2, 1 or the Galaxy S II and Galaxy any more. I guess I should just throw away my Torch 9800 later this year since you think it's gonna be paperweight. Thanks for the advice, mate. Do you have $700 I can borrow?

I think these type of promos work in countries outside North America. I live in Canada but grew up in the Philippines. People there have a different use for Blackberries. Filipino subscribers are more social than data surfer (plus the fact that BBM subscriptions are so cheap). However, your perspective may be correct in North American market. Hopefully BB10 will be a success.

Good!!! ....my mom who is 70 yrs old is getting the 9220....i can have the ticket..unless my sister in law beats me to it...

Nobody represents the blackberry user demographic better than nicky minaj: well educated, well defined, sharp and clean, pure professional. GO Manila!

all those words you just used to describe her are completely wrong, i would use, annoying, talentless, annoying, bad taste in music clothing and lyrics. funny how losers group up with other losers. minaj will ruin the image for Blackberry.

Annoying, talentless, bad taste in music clothing and lyrics represent the main stream now a day. I wish it would be like the 80's-90's. Songs were more meaningful back then. :)

I don't know who this Nicky Minaj is but I think it's great that BlackBerry is getting some talented people to advertise for them.

Yes but her main phone is a Blackberry. Anytime you see a picture of her & her phone...it's a Blackberry. She only tweets via Blackberry as well, lol. Or via web.

Jennifer Lopez is having a concert to Manila this November together with half Pilipino American Idol Jessica Sanchez, I hope RIM will bring the very first Blackberry 10 device promotions together with them. I'm using 9300 curve and playbook and I'm looking forward to upgrade later this year to Blackberry 10.

They definitely need to do a couple of these in North America for bb10! Some musical group for older people, and definitely Justin beber for the younger girls who are probably fanatic enough to by a bb just to see him.

I must be so out of it or no longer in the RIM target market because this chick is horrible and in no way would sway me to the BB .

Lopez i can understand and while not my taste in music, as a brand shes been around for awhile and does have staying power. Tagging on to flash in the pans doesnt make me feel comfortable.

I really must be getting old.

I have nothing but pity for the ears of the attendees. mg minaj is the worst artist in the world. her voice makes me just want to go out and eat faces.

The people that are going to her concert, like her, so they wont have bleeding ears. Just because you simply do not like her music, doesn't mean you should discredit it. Someone, many people do not like your favorite artist. Let's all be nice, and if we don't like something, we don't listen to it.

I was hoping her voice would want you to go jump off a bridge.. I'd run to Best Buy and pick up a whole case of her CDs and send them to you.

Ahahahaa. It seems no matter what Rim does to try and publishize and promote itself there's always whiners out there. Can't some people just take your horseblinds off and try and look @ the bigger picture. Not a huge fan of minaj, but she funny to listen to cus she's got quite a potty mouth on her. Opinions are one thing, but if we are to see Rim succeed in with this critical bb10 delivery we have to find it in ourselves to back Rim up. I just think Rim has been through enough esp being kicked while it's down. Damnn you guys are tough.

Peace

Just think if they did this in America for the BB10 launch. And then she walks on stage with one and says how its her personal phone ect ect. Go Nicki!!! :D

let's not bash pop/rap stars that we don't know personally. she's in the entertainment business, certainly not "trash". let's be nice, it goes further than ill-wishes.

Amen!! I'm sick of people bitching.. they bitch about the "Be Bold" campaign.. "It sucks".. they bitch about this exclusive concert to drive sales.. "She sucks, she is trash..blah blah".. Funny to see how many armchair executives we have on this site. Pretty easy to complain when 1. you aren't in the position and 2. don't have a BETTER solution to offer up.

Not a fan of Nicki Minaj myself, but I think this should be fun :-) Here in the Philippines, a lot of BlackBerry users are young. I think it's got quite a hip and fun image here. Lots of love RIM!

Dude.. is there any end in sight to your negativity? Are you one of those people that bitches about EVERYTHING? RIM is trying something new with this partnership and exclusive concert to spur sales. You may not be interested in Nicki Minaj but there are others that are...straight from Wikipedia... notice the PLATINUM album and the 7 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 AT THE SAME TIME.

"In August 2009, Minaj released her debut album, Pink Friday, in November 2010. It quickly became a commercial success, peaking at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and being certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) a month after its release.[2][3] She became the first female solo artist to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time.[4] Her second single, "Your Love", reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart, making Minaj the first female artist to top the chart unaccompanied since 2002.[5] She also became the first female artist to be included on MTV's Annual Hottest MC List.[6] Minaj was named the 2011 Rising Star by Billboard."

+1. Well put. Just cuz people don't like the artist that doesn't mean she's no good. If all 7 billion of us liked the same music things would suck. People shouldn't dismiss what they don't understand or don't like with no valid reason
