Big News for Hockey Fans!! It seems the BlackBerry Storm will soon be available with a more sporting touch to Canadians on Bell, coming in NHL team stylings. No word on release dates just yet, but we'll give you the updates as we learn more.

What do you think folks? Cool? Something you'd buy? Is this the start of a trend for BlackBerry? Are we going to start seeing carriers release RIM smartphones with licensed branding? NHL, NBA, NFL, Formula 1... Gucci, Prada... maybe a Louis Vuitton BlackBerry? Drop your thoughts in the comments.

Don't we have like 5 teams...And last time I checked, the Detroit Red Wings were an american team, hence residing in Detroit, Michigan.....hmmm

Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks. Furthermore, out of the top five NHL teams by Stanley Cups, three are Canadian.

You can bet your octopi I'd be all over this if I wasn't (A) using AT&T as my carrier or (B) RIM had themselves a 9500 Storm.

don't get me wrong. i love buffalo. great town. i'm a UB alum. but i live in binghamton. somehow we're in the sabres market and they always black out ranger games for sabre games. i'm closer to MSG than HSBC. not to mention they play sabre games on msg network. they should really bring back empire network for hockey season so RJ can have his squealfest on his own network and i can bask and the warming glow of sam rosen and joe micheletti.

but i digress.

great idea, Canada is dominated by one sport, hockey. Im gonna guess that 75% of Canadians who have or are getting a storm will get an NHL skin. If the skins are available to buy separate from the phone, im getting one the day they come out. GO SABRES!

Why not? It's a product for sell. If this helps, then great. For those of us American's in the minority who play hockey and kids play hockey, etc. etc., it is just good to see the great sport from Canada getting some publicity with a top notch product.

I would just like to make a small correction, the storm on a 3 year term and a data plan is actually $199.95. I work at Bell and I'm pretty sure the price was dropped down $50 (from 249.95) on March 6th.

I wonder how much the NHL paid to have RIM do this because we all know that Ball-Silly's money is no good at the league office. Here we have a guy who is passionate about hockey and wants to save a team but the commissioner would rather the league fold.

I have a seidio case but if this was available in the states I would think about it. Of course if someone starts selling the parts I would definitely get a Flyers battery door.

I think this is a good idea and a good step to other similar sponsorships. People like having the feeling of owning a unique device. Look at how many people like pink phones or get ColorWare done to their BB.

Also, I want a Penguins one.

I am not sure but I am almost positive the Habs phone will scurry and get out of the situation as soon as possible, either that or cheat. :)

Flyers game them a nice exist. Blame that on the Penguins as they tanked the last game of the year to prevent playing them in the first round.:)
