New version of Snap2Chat now available in the BlackBerry Beta Zone

Snap2Chat Beta
By James Richardson on 5 Jun 2014 03:17 am EDT

For you BlackBerry 10 users that like to SnapChat with your buddies on other platforms you'll be pleased to hear that the third party app Snap2Chat has received a wee update over in the BlackBerry Beta Zone.

The changes are not huge, but more of a fixing update for users - which suits me just fine.

These include:

  • Removed headless notifications (stopped and running - not the entire headless)

  • Eliminated code that crashes the app on start

  • Pulls up caption when keyboard is shown and pulls back to last position after the keyboard is hidden.

If you haven't already signed up for a BlackBerry beta account you can do so below.

Woo looks like it's got better features too

Yes it's a BlackBerry. If you have something bad to say... speak to Easton!

Sorry, how do I access this beta? I don't see it as a program in the beta zone to join and therefore don't see it in the downloads.

The beta programme might be full if it isn't showing up.

On the upside, the boot up crash seems to have been fixed!

NemOry's normally makes the bar file available to sideload in the Snap2Chat thread. Just do a search for Official Snap2Chat in the forums and you should be able to spot the thread easily enough. :-)

Snapchat Users....would you use this? Here's an idea I would like to see in BBM. Here's how it would work. In a convo, go under attachment, choose the bbm peak icon, select the picture or take a picture, choose the receiver (well maybe you wouldn't choose as you're already in that conversation) and choose the length of time they can view it. Like you do with Glympse (the mapping feature in bbm). I know it's exactly like snapchat which I have never nor will ever use, but to have the ability to do it right in bbm with your contacts would be pretty cool. I call it BBM Peak as you're letting someone 'peak' at the pic, and it just sounds like a good name for this amazing OS!!!

Next BBM update....BBM Peak

Great suggestion! I'd love to see more and more reason for BBM to be the go to communication tool across platforms. I think you wanted "Peek" though.

Removed headless notifications (stopped and running - not the entire headless)

What does this mean?

Signature - Google wants your info. What are you gonna do about it?

It means the notifications you received letting you know Headless was running and Headless stopped; you will still get headless notifications when new snaps are received.

Headless for this app killed my battery. My battery drain went back to normal after uninstalling it. Which is a shame, I enjoyed this app otherwise.

A simple reboot is thr fix for battery drain. Still can't what see what causes headless to go crazy and use like 40% memory that's what drains the battery. But doesn't happen all the time and rarely

It's a shame that the betazone is only open to select developers to test and promote their apps. I hope the betazone shares this same advantage amongst other developers soon.

Classifieds Canada and GeoYeo App all the way!!!

Yea, i had to uninstall because it was killing my battery, bad. Since i deleted, batterys back to normal. Not complaining just letting you know... i appreciate the working towards improvement though!! seriously , thanks great app otherwise

If it drains, just reboot phone. The drain doesn't happen all the time snap2chat is in your phone

BlackBerry should just make an offer to Snapchat. Imagine the two combining! The possibilities are endless!

Good to see things evolve. BlackBerry native apps rock, and they're on their way to feature completeness....

"No Q10?" -> "Buy from Chen... "

I had the battery drain issue. A quick reboot works. I'm just glad the app is constantly evolving keep up the good work Nemory
