Second! But, I like the theme too.

Nice I was the person that initially commented on the theme in that original post. Glad to see it available for the Storm. Looks great!

Posted by scillaaa Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

why would you buy this theme when there are tons of free ones that look EXACTLY like this..

Posted by ttsoldier Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

I agree with scillaaa here. Why?

Redzappers bessa theme is AWESOME and there is a hidden dock on top and bottom! :D

Posted by scillaaa Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

Exactly! Im just saying.. if you are going to make a "premium" theme at least make it one that you cant get for free.

and to unlimited01 -- ive seen free ones that look EXACTLY like this, same wallpaper and everything. so basically the creator "threw up a wallpaper" and called it a day.

Posted by VickyPaz Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

@Scillaaa, I've tested both themes. Bessa theme is great, no argument there - but the look is completely different from BlackOut so not sure what the other person's point was there. Also, show us the theme that looks and works 'EXACTLY' like BlackOut that is free. I'd like to see it.

Posted by ninja please Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

firstly, the wallpaper I "threw up" was created specifically for this theme, by me. I spent several weeks on the theme, and customized everything on it. so yes, it's a premium theme, because I spent a lot of time on it to make it flow like I do all my other themes. nobody's twisting your arm to buy it pal. so when you get off your ass and take the time and effort to make a theme yourself, then we'll talk. I'd also like to see this so-called theme that looks just like this one.

...that you shouldn't be hostile. Yeah, your theme is original, but there's no need to be unprofessional. Just sayin.

And while I'm at it, I personally think that people need to give credit to these developers for making themes. Free or premium. It makes my blood boil to see people think that they should be entitled to a theme. A FREE theme that these developers put hard work into. I like free themes, don't get me wrong. But it also takes time to make a theme and if a developer wants to get compensated for their time, I see nothing wrong with it.

You want a free theme? Make your own damn theme. Just sayin.

Posted by scillaaa Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

lol i actually do make my own themes :)

Posted by Michelle Haag Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 764 days ago

If you make themes, then you know a lot of work goes into it. Why would you come in and bash on something someone obviously worked hard on? Do you think you're doing a public service or something by "warning people" that they might find a similar theme for free?
Constructive criticism is always appreciated by developers. However, whatever it is you call your comment is not. It's unfortunate that people get some sort of ego boost by trying to bring others down. You can deny it if you want, but I don't see what the point of your comments were besides that.

Ninja - As always, this theme is top-notch. Your attention to detail is unrivaled, and I am truly proud to rock this awesome theme on my 9700. Great job!

Love the theme, ninja. Would it be possible to get the wallpaper on its own to use with BerryWeather's homescreen wallpaper setting?

Posted by ninja please Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 763 days ago

not a problem. send me a PM on here with your email.

Posted by jabbs1 Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

not bad looking. all i need to know is...does spacebar open quicklaunch?

Posted by parmijo11 Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

I just bought it and tested and space key does open quicklaunch.

Posted by unlimited01 Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

cause it's polished.. the amount of time that goes into a paid theme is obvious. the free ones just throw up a wallpaper or sometimes an incomplete set of custom icons.

Posted by jabbs1 Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

actually i've downloaded and used lots of very good free themes (stormy x currently). Also, i've seen very many paid apps that just look like trash.

Posted by parmijo11 Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

I'm always a little leary about buying themes but this one is pretty solid. Smooth navigation, no lag that I can notice and nice transitions.

Does this work on the curve 2? it says it does but under compatible handsets it doesnt show..

Posted by parmijo11 Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

Where are you seeing that it does work on Curve 2 or that its compatible.

Posted by yongone Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

The huge picture on the post.

Posted by parmijo11 Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

Well instead of waiting for someone else to try why don't you take the plunge and try and find out...

Posted by yongone Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

I did... and FAIL! it doesnt work. Im currently talking with the support people. Hopefully i can get it to work. Ill update on if it works and how you can get it work if you have a 8530.

Posted by ninja please Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

since a good amount of you think the curve 2 is the 85xx (I've always heard the 8900 called curve 2), I'll be putting out a 85xx version in a day or two, so if you purchased it and thought for some reason that the 8900 was being sneaky and pretending to be 85xx, sit tight.

Nice lookin theme.

Another great theme by Ninja - runs well on my Bold 9000 and looks great.

Posted by krnxstylzz Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

This is a great, clean-cut theme.
The icons, messages, & menu looks great on my BlackBerry Tour 9630. Despite some haters comparing this to other ("similar") free themes, this is a unique one to me, & I doubt any other themes replicates this one's customization free or paid. The theme includes a great blend of basic colors between black, white, & gray. The Font is clear & neat. I've been actually waiting for this specific theme as soon as Bla1ze have posted the following post at the end of March: http://crackberry.com/has-anyone-seen-icon-or-screen

I purchased "BlackOut" without hesitation.
Thanks Ninja - for a great theme that
I will definately use for a long period of time
at such an affordable price.

(Btw I do not usually buy "Themes", but
BlackOut caught my attention even when it was in Beta)

Posted by brown_storm Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

Just because you committed this common language mistake, I am not interested in buying the theme. This is black-in (there is no white, hence white-out). Changing the name will even make it more creative and raises curiosity. Otherwise, you are losing this customer.

Posted by ninja please Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

"BlackOut" refers to all of the wallpapers being dark. hence, the theme is blacked out. Blacked out generally means something is decked out in black. That's not a language mistake, and I'm not going to change the name of my theme for the fear of losing a customer, sorry.

Posted by brown_storm Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

In the night when the light is out, it is called, 'black out'. It is clearly a misnomer. What went out is 'white'. Black remains. Black is the default. If your background is all black...it is BLACK-IN all the WHITE is OUT. How do I make it clearer to you?

:)

Posted by jxj41173 Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

it is blackout. Black = out. As in "black out". The black came in and the light went out. Blackout.

sheesh

Posted by ninja please Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

honestly, this has got to be the most petty thing ever.

define: black out
# obliterate or extinguish; "Some life-forms were obliterated by the radiation, others survived"
# darken completely; "The dining room blackened out"
# suppress by censorship as for political reasons; "parts of the newspaper article were blacked out"
# zonk out: lose consciousness due to a sudden trauma, for example
wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

hence, the wallpapers are BLACKED OUT.

google it, learn it, and leave it alone.

how do i access the hidden today screen on my verizon tour??? beautiful theme btw!!!!

Posted by Jenathis Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

This theme is amazing, looks awesome and works great. jjfan71 what do you mean by accessing the hidden today? On my tour if I highlight messages and then scroll up it highlights the messages in the hidden today area, mine is not verizon though but I think it should be the same.

Posted by jjfan71 Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

i was under the impression that a "today" screen was a layout of some sort of like appts, meetings and such. correct me if i'm mistaken :) it said hidden today screen when i purchased the theme. unless i misunderstood the whole thing :p thanx for your input :)

Posted by Jenathis Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

Yep, that is what a today one is. A hidden today is where if you put your messages and calendar etc on the home screen when you scroll over them it will show you the list of your messages or appointments etc, then you can scroll up to select them.

Posted by jjfan71 Wednesday, Apr 21, 2010 764 days ago

ok, now i'm a little confused. if i just scroll over, say the "message" folder, it just gets highlited but i have to click on the actual icon to see msgs. i have 6 icons on my homescreen and they all react the same way. excuse me for being stupid, just trying to figure this stuff out :p thanx again for ur help Jenathis

Posted by Jenathis Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 764 days ago

no you're not stupid. It should pop up when you get new messages that you haven't looked at yet. I'm not always very good at explaining things anyway lol.

Posted by Michelle Haag Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 764 days ago

It only displays new messages as they arrive, not messages that are already read or viewed. :)

Posted by Jenathis Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 764 days ago

what she said lol

Posted by blackberry_Brian Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 764 days ago

A real nice theme... just wish it didn't cost so much... I know a mans got to earn a living... but help a brother out man... times are hard! Hook me up with a reduced rate?

Posted by ninja please Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 763 days ago

seriously? most themes are 4.99-6.99.

Posted by jxj41173 Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 763 days ago

haha!

I can't believe you said that out loud! LMAO! You can buy three themes at that price if you skipped one week of your six pack. Just sayin. hahahaha

Omg, this made me laugh

Posted by Smooth Chef D Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 763 days ago

Honestly $2.99 is to much for you? WOW How can you afford your blackberry then. Hmmm... I love this theme! Ninja put a lot of work into this. I should know. LOL

Corporate Goth has a cool blackout look, especially on the 9700:

Posted by jxj41173 Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 763 days ago

That theme doesn't even come close in comparison... Ninja put more effort into their theme (the corporate goth is all stock icons). The Goth theme is nice but they look nothing like one another.

Posted by ninja please Thursday, Apr 22, 2010 763 days ago

LOL. someone used the stock icons from the 83xx, which has nothing to do with this theme. lots of themes have dark backgrounds. nice try though. comparing these two is irrelevant.

I noticed on my version (9000 os4.6) that the home screen icons names are truncated..anyone else have this problem? Other than this glitch, I dig this theme...
