these aren't new, I've seen all of these on tv weeks ago, except for the rugby guy.

Like 'em all! But RIM needs to innovate, they need to get back on the top!

Yes! very nice.
Short and sweet! But it makes the point. Go RIM go!

Good ads but the apps they show just make it look like yet another touchscreen handheld. They need to show that the Torch is different. You only see the keyboard very briefly. All good though, hope to see some for the UK next.

the one about "its not a giant leap, more like a triple axle." Every time i saw it i was trying to figure out a way that they weren't lying. There is nothing new about the torch when it comes to the industry, nothing super amazing in the new OS beyond catching up to everyone else. They are gradually falling behind in the consumer market and how anyone at RIM would think that they have gained any kind of popularity with their "new" features. At least these new ads show "real" customers saying what features they like.

These ads are a step forward. I didn't care for the "its not a giant leap, more like a triple axle" ads, it wasn't clear to most viewers as to what RIM was trying to convey. These ads get the message across that BlackBerry isn't just for business. Hopefully, RIM didn't wait too long to learn that today's business people don't want to carry two phones, one for business and one for enjoyment. The BlackBerrys that my company currently issues to its management are no-frills, no-fun, like a ball-and-chain. Phones like the Torch could change that perception.

LOL. He was using GOOGLE Maps, instead of the native BlackBerry Maps. :)

Which is what most BlackBerry users do.

Honestly, RIM should find a way to get Google Maps pre-installed on their phones...

It wasn't Google maps. It was TeleNav. Check the bottom left corner of the screen.

Torch III

Till then i'll use my 9700 and maybe the 97** that is replacing the 9700.

The design and BB-ness of the torch are great, but the specs and performance is way below needs.

that'll be like 2014-15... considering RIM will refresh the Torch sometime next year then 2012 a Torch II and another refresh in 2013, and 2014 a Torch III

And considering RIM and hardware that phone in 2014 will be up to date with the phones we have now from other developers.

I like it.
It's unique and it ties all the commercials together.

That music is ok, the vocals in it however are HORRIBLE!

the courier and dj ones are pretty bad examples... I've not seen the vet, rugby or photographer ones before.

the music is kinda lame too but for short quick ads, it does the job reasonably well by pointing out features that everyone can use and could do well on a torch device, their strong points esp when its all been about apps and casual gaming. Something RIM should really address too. leaving out a dedicated GPU really wasn't the best move but then again, i do have a DS for that.

If they gave more airtime to show the users navigating the phone, like the split second in the rugby video.
