Neelam, strange name, super-powered calculator! - 50 free copies up for grabs!

By Michael Hepples on 25 Aug 2010 07:58 am EDT

I use my native calulator application on my BlackBerry on a daily basis with work, calculating wights, and charges for customers. What is provided works very well for me, but there are those, like scientists, enginerrs, or students that require a lot more function than the native calculator provides. A few developers have taken on the task of creating scientific calculators for BB, giving us such apps as  the Pocket 10C SE Scientific Calculator or the yoMotion Advanced Calculator, but the offerings currently out there lacksome functions that get covered by this app. None of the apps currently available are able to handle complex numbers, until Neelam. This app doesn't stop there, incorporating many other advanced functions like RPN notation, over 20 embedded physical constants, and many more. If the jargon I just included confuses you, you may not need something quite this powerful for your daily needs, but if you understood it completely, this may very well olve you a lot of frustration in your usage. Having this many functions close to hand saves valuable time and the app is available for $5.99 in the CB store.

Contest: We have 50 copies of Neelam to give away! Just leave a comment on this post to enter. Contest ends this Sunday at Midnight PST. Please only leave one comment, multiple entries won't count.

He He-I hope it rings true in real life as well. In your haste to comment first and then your correction rather than an EDIT, you may have just disqualified yourself. Don't worry about being first, just worry about being there.

"Please only leave one comment, multiple entries won't count."

That additional entries won't give you a better chance. And, I'm sure he is as optimistic as I am about winning. So, HavPlenty, the humor was not lost on me! Good Luck, man.

I wish everyone good luck. I was just pointing out that it may be a disqualification. I would'nt like to see someone miss out for something so simple or not following directions. I don't know for sure what they meant. I just go by what is written. For me, I don't need this app and was just noticing the extra entry, thinking the first might be best deleted. But again, I don't know for sure.

Good will to all. And, good luck to you and HavPlenty. I like that name...

I find the Storm built in calculator a little unresponsive at times to presses on the screen buttons... This app looks great however.

Would love a copy of this calculator. As an estimator with a construction supply company, it would come in very handy on job sites.

I've never found an advanced calculator app that has everything I need. It looks like this could be the one. Sign me up!

I have tried the other calculators offered for BB. This calculator looks as if it is just what I need.

I can use this well engineered and good looking to calculate my football picksthis season. Please consider myself for a copy. Thank You -Dez

THis would be perfect for me as I work as an engineer/quality manager for FDOT. Thanks CrackBerry. Long time listener, third time caller.

As an engineer, I desperately need a good scientific calculator and combining it with my blackberry would be pure nirvana! My current HP-28S is on it's last legs (it is 24 years old).

Please help!

I am disappointed with the calculator on Blackberries. One would have thought that a business device would have a calculator that would do more than it comes with on the device.
Please send one my way.

Expanding the capabilities of our BB devices is key for me. This is just the type of application that does that!

As a Quality Engineer I can always use a good calculator app. This looks like a great solution for my Bold. Thanks CrackBerry.

As an engineer there have been many times I would have liked to have a more powerful calculator. I'd love to win this guy!

Going back to school starting next Monday as a college freshman, twenty-five years late. Would be great to have a
great calculator on my BB.

I got it because I wanted an RPN calculator, but this is NOT RPN. You can see the equal sign key right on the posted picture. It has ordinary algebraic notation, but one can use parentheses to enter a set of operations, but it is still "argument1-operator-argument2-equals"

Too bad, because otherwise this is a nice calculator, but it is falsely represented.

I've been looking for a great calculator for my phone. It sucks that I had a killer *free* graphing calculator on my Palm T1 - FIVE YEARS AGO! and can't find a great one for my phone.

This would be very useful because I sometimes forget my calculator at home, and then I have to do sine/cosine/tangent/x/y and everything else by hand...

Like to have one. Most calculators for BB are not as feature rich as this one. I am still waiting for a Finance calculator with the looks of the old HP 12C.

I've been looking for a good Calc on BB. This looks like it could be one. Would love a copy, and even give a review on the app.

Thank you for picking me to win this super duper calculator app. I have never won anything in my life before, so it would be neat to start now and have this as my first one.

I was just trolling the internet two weeks ago looking for just this sort of app for my 'berry! I love RPN!

Like you said, if you don't know what RPN is, you don't need it. But if you know how to use it, it is the GREATEST thing. Bless me with a copy, and I will put it to work ASAP
