My nicknames for the black and white versions of the BlackBerry Z10...

In the spirit of the RIMPIRE STRIKES BACK, I bring you....

Darth Vader Stormtrooper

Darth Vader and Stormtrooper! 

Of course now that Research In Motion has been re-branded to BlackBerry the whole RIMPIRE STRIKES BACK thing doesn't really work, but I think the Star Wars inspired nicknames absolutely fit the bill. Just look at the phones! The first time I saw the white Z10 I instantly thought Stormtrooper!

Putting the nicknames to use while working our BlackBerry Z10 review, the Crack team already shortened them to just Vader for the black Z10 and Trooper for the white Z10. Will the nicknames stick? I'm thinking yes! 

And remember... in the movies the bad guys always lose. But in real life I'm pretty sure whoever owns the Death Star is going to kick the most ass.

Kevin could you forward this idea to Blackberry. To allow integration between the native calendar and weather apps.

That way when people look at their appointments, they can see what the weather will be like and can make changes to their appointments if necessary.

If they have the calendar open (in month view) and they want to see what the weather will be like in 2 days, they select that date by tapping and holding for 1 second and swipe/pull down to view the weather, or swipe/pull up to see their appointments(something similar in the HUB). This would be considered "peeking" into what it will be like for that particular day. Once they lift off their thumb, it will sling away.

I can say more on its function but I'd prefer to PM you. I can make a picture to better explain it if you want.

Does anyone else see my idea?

I agree with you on this. It would be amazing if we could go into the native calendar app and be able to check the weather from there and make plans based on what the weather's going to be on any given day.

Thanks! Let's push for them to do this. I honestly think it would be an awesome feature for Blackberry. Especially since Blackberries are for people who DO and on the GO.

That way I don't have to open the weather app, and my calendar, and not have to toggle between active frames.

Kevin........I think we have to re-think this! Remember Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers represent the Evil Empire. When I think the Evil Empire, I think Apple and the iPhone. My son and daughter have already gone over to the "dark side". I am not. I will be waiting till April, when the Q10 comes out.

I did rethink it... and remember, Star Wars is a movie, where the bad guys have to lose.

In real life it's the guy who owns the Death Star that's gonna kick the most ass. Vader and Trooper it is!

Haha, Stormtrooper was the first thing I thought of too when I saw the white Z10. I know atleast one ofhter person who thought the same thing, but didn't relize it was so comon....guess their's a lot of us StarWars fans here :)

Not sure i agree these are fitting names. Just doesn't feel right. Star wars was great, fan of episodes 4,5,6. Not so much the rest and feels kinda dated. Z10 is new and ecxiting, just doesn't fit. But just go with the flow i guess, see where it takes us.

Anything that can draw attention to the unbelievable TWO MONTH DELAY for US customers is a good thing. So far, it's basically just been dismissed as "no big deal". It's really deflated the excitement for us!

Kevin, just to let you know, when the touch model was presented on Wed someone named the phones by color in the exactly same way (especially with the white model, stormtrooper was a success when he/she called them like that and everyone loved it)... so, let's try to find the user name and honor him/her in the article title... it would be nice for that person (except that i didn't realize and was you the one that actually said it in the first place hahaha)

This would make the PlayBook more like an X-Wing stuck in the swamp getting no BB 10 love at the moment.

Mind you, it reminds me more like the Millenium Falcon shape wise, except the PlayBook's black...in that case it's kind of like a Tie-Fighter. Might as well make it Vader's Tie Fighter...

Darth Vader is fine and dandy, but Stormtroopers are notorious at being unable to shoot targets and generally do anything right. Might want to check if there's a Jedi that wears white clothing

When Rogers first asked me if I wanted to switch my pre-order to a white one I replied out loud (in spite of being by myself at the time)

"No, I do not want an iBerry."

Not to say the BB10 is anything like an iphone, but just that the last thing I need is someone else glancing over and thinking it is one.

Although I suppose that would be a good opportunity to start talking about WHY it's better, er, different.
