Geeez... between the CB Birthday planning last week during the day and Olympics watching taking up my free time at night, I nearly forgot I still have a few Mobile World Congress videos to get up on the blogs. This one is a little bit different....

The folks from Schad Automation were on-hand at the BlackBerry booth showing off their Extend 7000 system. This is no consumer application but demonstrates how BlackBerry Smartphones are super-compelling within the workplace much beyond staying on top of emails and reports. The Extend 7000 greatly improves the efficiency of operating machines and plants in big business. Check out the video above for full details. Pretty interesting stuff and interesting to note that this technology is already in use at companies like Volkswagon and Lufthansa. For more information, visit schad-automation.com.

This is a really cool innovation... i know a bit about PLC's and man.. to have it being able to be controlled by a phone is soo cool. Ahh.. and its a BlackBerry.. better yet! great job there Kevin...some very cool stuff.

So much time is wasted at my company waiting for someone to restart the process after a system stop. This would totally rock for the flow people to be able to manage the assembly line and be alerted when stations are emergency stopped.
