The most addictive games for BlackBerry 10

By Adam Zeis on 4 Jun 2013 02:56 pm EDT

We do plenty of game posts here at CrackBerry, but what we never really get into is just how addicting some of our favorite BlackBerry 10 games are. Along the lines of our Talk Mobile discussion on the dark side of mobile gaming, we've decided to check out some of the most addicting BlackBerry 10 games available.

Sure there are some that you can play as you want and put down without a problem, but there are many that are addicting and way too hard to put down.

I have a few games that I almost wish I never got started with because they've taken up more of my time than I'd like, but I guess you could argue that it's a good thing too (that BlackBerry 10 is awesome for gaming).

We've taken a look at some of the most "addicting" games and come up with our short list of favorites.

Now before you go downloading them all, keep in mind that you too may be lost in them for hours, so don't say we didn't warn you!

Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek

This is one that I recently discovered and as soon as I got into it I knew it was a mistake. The first night I played for about two hours, then three the next day. I hooked my Z10 up to my TV via HDMI and even got the rest of my family into it. Enigmatis is a great puzzle game that leads you through an amazing story and will keep you entertained for hours.

Hill Racing

This one for me is just so addicting because of the replay value. The objective is simple - drive your car along the hills and don't crash. The reason I love it is because now matter how far you get, you always want to do better. I keep going at this one over and over whenever I have a spare minute. I've logged countless hours driving over the hills I'm sure.

Where's My Water

I just recently got into this one even though it's been around on other platforms for quite a while. I never took the time to download it just for the reason that I knew I'd get sucked in - and man was I right. The first few levels are easy enough, but as things get harder and levels progress, it's that much more difficult to put it down. For that this one gets a huge addictive rating in my book.

Beach Buggy Blitz

This is one of the first games I had on my Z10 and I've yet to stop playing it. Beach Buggy Blitz is another game that just seems to have endless replay value. Whenever I find myself with a few minutes of downtime, I fire this up to try and best myself. It's simple enough as you just need to drive your buggy as far as possible, but just like Hill Racing you'll always want to try and do better.

FlyCraft is an awesomely creative BlackBerry game that ranks in the top ten for me. The objective is to create the best flying machine you can to get little Herbie to go the distance. Combine different objects any way you want then launch across the forest and try to get the high score. With the very opened-ended play, FlyCraft rings in as one of the most addictive games for BlackBerry 10.

Trid is another great puzzle game that makes you challenge the clock. There are various modes you can choose, but no matter what you do you'll always be back for more. Trid throws you into some hardcore puzzle action and makes you want to keep trying and do better. Totally fun and totally addicting.

Super Hexagon

Super Hexagon is possibly the most annoyingly addictive BlackBerry 10 game there is, but I'm okay with that. While it's a true pain the rear to even play it, you can't stop trying to twist and turn your way to victory. Drop some headphones on to really get into it and you'll lose many precious hours on this on, guaranteed. Try it, trust me.

The most addictive games for BlackBerry 10

Well it's one of the most popular blog topics... I'm developing a game called 'Tools not Toys' .

I'm going to release it for PB when it goes to BB10.

Posted via CB10

I have downloaded gta vc on my BlackBerry q5
but the game just starts and at at the time of loading the game the screen turns black and brings me on the main menu page pls help if the game is playeable on BlackBerry q5
if so how
pls help

For free, I'd recommend checking out Jetpack Joyride, Chasing Yello, and Run In Crowd, off top of my head.

Lots more too, just depends what you're into.

This is how you CB10, son!

Might I suggest side loading an emulator or 2? RetroArch by itself will give you the ability to play literally thousands of free games, and you will already be failure with a lot...

Posted via my Zed (not Zee) 10

I think CB should post, the best free games for those that can't afford payed games, for example I'm from Venezuela and it's really hard to buy things

Posted via CB10

See Adam's reply to comment right above yours for the link to CB's list.

This is how you CB10, son!

I second this. Word Soup is a game I just can't put down. I have it on my PlayBook as well. I've even got my fiancée into it.

Ascendant Music BBM Channel C000B8970

Jewel Smuggler is my new favorite game. I've been playing it relentlessly for the last couple of days.

Posted via CB10

Poker (HTK), sector strike, Jetpack Joyride, Samurai 2, ModernCombat, Asphalt, air attack are the most played games of mine.

Posted via CB10

Love Samurai 2!
Monster Shooter: Lost Levels is great too.

Both get you game on BB10 device + PB for single purchase too!

This is how you CB10, son!

Yeah but with Emulators, unless you owned the game in your past you are technically a pirate though. :)

Will a signed affidavit affirming my previous ownership of Super Mario 1 and 3 (not 2.. too weird), and Mario kart 64... hold up in litigation? Because, despite my reasonably diligent efforts, I'm sure my mom threw them all out.

Posted via CB10

Radiant Defence is mu favorite mobile game. Although I needed paid upgrades to beat it the first time on my hp touch pad I have gone back and beat it on play book a few times without any upgrades.

Posted via CB10

Haven't played Ruzzle, but Scramble Touch looks closer.
Scramble Touch & WordHero are same idea though. Both are decent Android ports and free. (Ruzzle is available in BB World too for $2.99, also Android port but haven't tried personally.)

WordHero is live games every few minutes, playing against everybody else worldwide. Always same size grid.
Scramble Touch is played one-on-one against friends or random players, best out of 3, and has options for grid size and types of bonuses.

Why not try both?!

This is how you CB10, son!

You're right! And Damn this is so pretty cool! I'm using / need 3 battery for a day! Most for gaming and DJING! I'm glad to see that the multi player mode on Modern Combat 4 works!

My next investigation is the Moga Pro game Controller! Lol

Do yourself a favor and go look up the trailer for Plants Vs Zombies 2. Just awesome!

This is how you CB10, son!

Man that games been out since Feb 8, 2011, lol! The sequels coming out July 18. Shows how far behind BBRY is in the mobile gaming sector.

Posted via CB10

Well it's still one of top paid games on iOS too, but know what you mean.

This is how you CB10, son!

Great Big War Game is a great big war game. Great Little War Game is also good.

Posted via CB10

Yes you did, but only $0.99.

You wouldn't believe how much my wife plays this... or maybe you would.

This is how you CB10, son!

Adam! What is this? Such a bad Post.

Now i am addicted by Hill Racing. :D Thanks for your suggestions. :-)

Run In Crowd! No thinking required... no long term commitment (track resets every day). Exactly what I need in a 'game'.

Posted via CB10

Funky Smugglers!! Currently ranked number 1 with 1.5 million points followed by second place with about 600K points. I challenge anyone to try beating it!

10 pin shuffle, jungle strike, desert strike, modern combat 4, alpha wave, angry birds sw, and riptide gp all great

Posted via CB10

FruitBlitz, ridiculously addictive, Ninja Popcorn, Run in Crowd, Chasing Yello, Saving Yello, Throw the Knife

Posted via CB10 from my Z10

Great Big War Game is my favorite and the most addictive for me... until Muffin knight gets ported from the PlayBook!

Posted via CB10

Sector Strike and Robotek! I liked them so much I went ahead and made an in game purchase to thank the creators for the great work!

Posted via CB10

Stick Tennis is currently robbing me of many, many hours of life that could be spent playing actual tennis.

Posted via CB10

I like chasing yello. Basically I like any game the involves score loop. I was trid had that functionality

Posted via CB10

Galaxy On Fire 2 HD for me wins best title currently going - yes I will admit it's expensive for essentially a mobile game however the graphics are so good, the gameplay is awesome and the ability to continue the story line if you want to by getting the add ons (and purchaseable credits) is great

Yes the game encourages you to throw your own money at it to progress über quick but it's not absolutely required in order to progress or even enjoy (you can earn credits by bartering or looting other ships!)

If only it supported landscape HDMI output ane Bluetooth controller support then this could very well have my Xbox 360 on a hiatus!

Gaming on the Z10 is legitimate.

7) Critical Wave*
8) Eufloria
9) Modern Combat 4
10) Pinball Deluxe
11) Robotek
12) Samurai 2: Vengeance
13) Sector Strike
14) Sixth Planet
15) World of Goo

*works with Zeemote: Steel Series FREE Bluetooth game controller.

That's 2 full "games" folders I can fill up with mostly good quality games. There's hudreds more. And there are even more coming.

I personally owned a PS Vita and whatnot, but I can honestly now say that gaming is quite clearly blurring the lines between consoles and smartphones / tablets.

Don't get me wrong, the PS Vita is a decent device, but it's handicapped by Sony, as well as not selling well (right now). Sony had an opportunity to kill mobile gaming with the introduction of the Vita, except they decided to treat it like the PSP and keep it crippled as a result of also being a manufacturer of competing products, like PS3 (vita is better), xperia phones, tablets, vaio computers. So, you're never ever going to get the full capabilities of the Vita so long as it's made by the same people who make all of those other Sony things.

This is where BlackBerry can shine. BlackBerry makes BlackBerry's. They don't have to worry about their gaming platform (BlackBerry 10) cannibalizing their own markets of other competing products. Maybe I'm making no sense, but to me BlackBerry has a golden opportunity to harness the power of mobile gaming where the Vita could not. Seriously. I think BlackBerry can make a serious go at being a legitimate hardcore gaming platform for hardcore gamers like myself. That's what I would love.

Posted via CB10 on a Q10 or a Z10, either way it's golden.

Very curious about Autumn Dynasty and a little curious about World of Goo, but have stayed away from $5 price tag with so many other games out there.
How does value of those 2 games compare to some of others for free to $3, in your opinion?

This is how you CB10, son!

Also, the CEO of playstation network (I believe that's who) was quoted saying something like "BlackBerry is dead."

That alone tells me they're a bit worried about the potential BlackBerry has with BlackBerry 10 being a legit competitor to playstation. I've never heard any leaders of the new BlackBerry come out and say anything negative about any other company like that. So, that tells me they're threatened by what BlackBerry 10 can do. Otherwise they'd pay zero attention to whther or not BlackBerry is dead or alive.

The only thing I ever really heard Thor say was that iOS is "dated", but also clearly mentioned how undeniably successful apple is. All truths, no attacking.

Anyways. Peace.

Too bad BBRY is about a year behind on mobile titles released. Most devs won't even give it the time of day. Half Brick, 88 Games, Rockstar, EA, etc. Won't port their games. Hell, we just got Super Stickman Golf and the second one has been out for a couple months. SSG has been out since June 2011 on iOS and Android! It's a joke. Shame to, considering the awesome hardware of the Z10.

Posted via CB10

Yeah why didn't they release these games for the Z10 back in 2011 too, right?

Fact is, BB10 just launched and new titles are being added at a respectable rate, imo.
The more interest, the more popular they'll be, and the more we'll see games relatively sooner.

This is how you CB10, son!

Btw, Super Stickman Golf has been out since at least April 2012 on PlayBook, so that's not too bad.

Be nice to see a sequel coming out right away though if there is one. Maybe dev wants to make money off original one first...? Perhaps that's the reason for current sale on SSG. Who knows!

This is how you CB10, son!

One more thing: right after that Sony CEO gave BlackBerry that weird bit of attention, I went and sold all my Sony PS gear. I'm that hardcore about BlackBerry

Posted via CB10 on a Q10 or a Z10, either way it's golden.

Fruit Blitz...I Cannot put it down! I don't know how I am even reading these instead of playing!? Oh yeah, I have a job to do...

Posted via CB10

Another cool thing. LoL. My bad. But, I can have 8 games running in active frames and simply go back and forth to each running game, zero hiccups and each game is exactly where I left it. Can't do that on anything else. Especially not the Vita.

Posted via CB10 on a Q10 or a Z10, either way it's golden.

You need to visit PSN more. Tons of classics there, all of which nothing on BB10 can compete with game play wise.

Posted via CB10

Not my favorite. But I haven't been able to stop playing Death Worm recently.
It's a pretty funny/sick game. The premise is simple.
Slink through the ground to keep from getting hit by deadly gunfire and to hide.
Pop out of the ground to eat people, vehicles, paratroopers etc. (the slurpy sounds when people get eaten are both disgusting and funny). I get a laugh out of watching people run away as well.
Fly back into the ground to safely sneak up on other victims. The pace increases with each level.
It's "arcade-y" and stupid very entertaining (for a simpleton like me!)

Galaxy on fire 2 HD. Prefer playing it on the PlayBook however because of the larger screen. Would love to see the updates rolled out to the PlayBook as well instead of just on bb10

Posted via CB10 on Z10

Aww, no love for breakeroids or Pin Fall? ;)

Btw, that Sony "BlackBerry is dead" comment came from the CEO of their MMO division, Sony Online Entertainment. Think he was mad at seeing another former market leader staging a comeback when his own company remains irrelevant in its space ;) Either way I love my PS Vita and PS3 as much as my BlackBerries.

Wow. Forgot to mention an array of PlayBook games too. Like, Dead Space, Machinarium, Galaxy on Fire 2, Pool Break Pro, Shadowgun, Uniwar, and of course all the versions of the same games on both Z10 as well as PlayBook.

Tons of games. Just sayin'

Posted via CB10 on a Q10 or a Z10, either way it's golden.

OMG. Another thing about BlackBerry gaming. It's on a BlackBerry, so I can keep connected and play games simultaneously, so for those of you stuck in a cubicle, here's a chance for you to make those 8 hour shifts more tolerable. LoL, just jokes, but yeah, you could.

Posted via CB10 on a Q10 or a Z10, either way it's golden.

Spent a lot of time plating Zuminja on my 9900, so Sparkle is on my watch list.
At $1-2, I'd own it. $3 for this type of game and I wait a bit...

This is how you CB10, son!

Paladog for sure. I start playing thinking I'll just play for a few minutes and a couple of hours later... ...still playing. I got hooked on it a couple years ago on my fiancé's Galaxy and was so happy to see it come to blackberry. Jetpack Joyride too but not as much.

Posted with my Z10 via CB10

Went to BlackBerry World to check what this one is about but there's no description or screen shots. Why do developers do this? I don't mind paying for an app but I'm not about to pay anything for an app that the developer won't even take time to describe and/or upload a few screen shots. Very lazy or stupid, I don't know which. It's called Marketing guys.

Posted via CB10

Does anyone have information on when or if we are ever going to get the Kobo App for the BB 10. I have it on my laptop and on the PlayBook but would love to have it on my Z10 also. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Posted via CB10

Supposedly coming... wait for it... soon.

Amazon Kindle app is available for quite some time though.

This is how you CB10, son!

Yup, Enigmatis for sure! I deleted it on my Z10 though and downloaded it on my Playbook. I'm onto my second round of playing it. ^___^

Posted via CB10

Devil's Attorney took up a good part of a Sunday when I downloaded it. There is some replay value as you try different strategies as well. I agree with Enigmatis, that was a different weekend. Rebuild is great as well.

Posted via CB10

None really, all the best mobile games aren't on BB10 and prob never will be. Its a shame considering the great hardware.

Posted via CB10

What games do you like?
I know BB might not have all best & brightest games yet. I'd love to look into the titles we're missing to see if they're on the way.

Can you give maybe a few examples please, of the ones you love on other mobile platforms?

This is how you CB10, son!

Real Racing 3
Super Stickman Golf 2
GTA: Vice City Stories
Star Command

To name a few of the big ones...

Posted via CB10

How are the controls for GTA: Vice City Stories? It would be cool to see one of the iconic GTA games on the Z10, but I can't imagine a touchscreen being optimal for such a game.

I'm embarrassed to say that I only play games on my ipad mini. I am a tried and true blackberry user and adore my Zed10 but it is my work and communication 'toy'. My ipad'sonly use is for games, specifically Candy Crush. Bring that to BB and I will be a happy candy camper

Nice ones. Run in crowd, samurai vengeance and shoot the duck are some of my favs.

Posted via CB10 - Channel Pin C00016D81

Only angry birds star wars on my z10 is remotely addictive.... I still much prefer my ps3 on my Bravia with my 5.1 system cranked up and playing Call of Duty

You're probably aware, but in case you're not, Angry Birds Space released for BB10 the other day too.
$0.99 in BB World.

This is how you CB10, son!

Where's My Perry. Hands down. I looked up one night just after getting my Z10 and playing the game - 2 hours had passed and I thought it had only been about 15 mins.

Stick Tennis is pretty addicting too.

Posted via CB10

Are there any hardcore strategy or role playing games on the Z10? Bard's tale is there but I don't feel like buying it anew for this platform. I already contacted the developers and explained that I don't have an android device but the said they will not get me the BB version for free.
Anything like Civ or Heroes of Might and Magic (which works not too good on Playbook/Z10)?

You might want to check out Lords of Midnight. It's an 'epic' fantasy wargame, turn-based, fog of war type game. Uniquely amongst strategy games of this type, it is played from the perspective of the commanders on the ground - you see what they see, not some bird's eye view.

Difficult? Of course. Satisfying? Oh yes. Addictive? Absolutely.

Disclaimer: Chris Wild (ChilliHugger Software) who did this modern update on the classic original is a friend of mine. However, if you search for the iOS version online for reviews you will see how well it has been received - it plays and looks identically on BB10 (and you get the PlayBook version included)

Asphalt and N.O.V.A. 3 - terribly of fun !
Will check out Enigmatis - graphics looks cool and seems exciting... thanks

Spent the most time playing Flight Control Rocket and FruitBlitz.

For originality and beauty my pick would be Eufloria HD

Flight Control Rocket is very cool and looks great.

It's a shame EA doesn't do Scoreloop.

This is how you CB10, son!

I wish I can use my paypal to purchase games/apps from BlackBerry World, but after upgrading to OS 10.1 I can't connect to paypal. The payment options said "unable to complete update, please try again later. Unable to connect to payment service." :(

But I have downloaded all gameloft's free games except nova3 and ashpalt7. Haven't found decent wifi to download it yet lol.
