For those who like to check in a lot or even frequent a certain venue may already know of an app called Magic4Square. We have reviewed it here on CrackBerry before. It is an app that checks-in to your favorite venues automatically. There's some setting up to do first but once all that is done, you're good to go. You can set up Magic4Square in such a way that whenever you're within a certain radius of your favorite venue and are there for a certain period of time, you're automatically checked-in. No need to manual go and do it. Like I said, great for those who frequent a certain place and want to keep 'Mayorship'.

Magic4Square has just received an update. It comes with some bug fixes and also an added feature of now being integrated with the Pebble smartwatch via Talk2Watch. It will basically notify you to your Pebble that a check-in has either been successful, has failed or is pending.

Magic4Square v1.3.0 changelog

  • NEW: added Pebble integration for notifications
  • FIXED: adding new check-ins is possible again
  • FIXED: app cover for BlackBerry Z30 has correct size now
  • FIXED: several minor issues

You can check out our hands-on review to see the app in action. Magic4Square is free to download. The free version lets you save up to 4 venues. The full version gives you unlimited venues, the ability to backup and restore your list of saved venues and more. Full version costs $1.99, although right now it is on a 50% sale, so you can get the full version for $0.99 for the next week. It is available for all BlackBerry 10 devices.

I love it and wish it would be headless

This all NEEDS to be headless to be useful. I bought it ages ago, but I never use it for that reason. Hope it gets updated soon. Great app otherwise.

Well trying to view the "reviewed it" link is useless in CB App since an annoying add takes up the entire screen and you can't dismiss it. Crackberry, your community wants updates to this app, please fix it.

Headless needs to happen with this for sure. I kind of expected it to be one of the first after the update brought headless capacity to apps.

You may check OnLocation (http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/41834892). It supports automatic Foursquare check in (and much more, profile/volume setting as example). And it is headless.

ARKick then this?SMH and they all use foursquare. I don't get it why pay for these apps ? It's like putting lipstick on a pig to make it pretty

I use onlocation and it works great

I just went to the comments to see if anyone would think it would be most useful if it was headless. Clearly, I'm not the first person to think of this. Lol!

I find "on location" to be better by doing checkin by Geofencing.

Never really gonna beat Foursquare at this kinda stuff. Don't like the idea of putting my whereabouts in the responsibility of an app tbh.

Ehm, you're publishing it at the internet. Aren't you?! :-o

He's talking about this happening automatically.

The app might mess up, check him in, but he might not really be at some place. Or it just might do nonsensical stuff.

If I am wrong with my assumption, please clarify your statement or correct me.

So many people which are asking for a headless version of a app which uses GPS a lot. Really?

Has anybody ever looked how much power such a feature needs?!

I really hope the developer wouldn't break the concept and will give at least the option to run it non headless. It would be for me the reason to stop using the app immediately otherwise. I open it when I leave and close it when I arrive at home. Works perfectly!
