Madden NFL 12: Now available for the BlackBerry PlayBook!

By Bla1ze on 11 Nov 2011 03:10 pm EST

One of the largest franchise games in the EA Sports catalouge has now landed in BlackBerry App World for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Madden NFL 12 has arrived, bringing all the bone crushing action you'd expect, optimized for the PlayBook.

  • GET IN THE GAME - Go deep with ultra-sharp gameplay and stunning graphics optimized for BlackBerry® PlayBook™. Feel the impact of every game-changing tackle with smooth, hard hitting animations.
  • AUTHENTIC NFL ACTION - Choose from the 32 NFL teams and battle it out in their true-to-life stadiums. Make trades, track stats, and launch winning strategies from in-depth playbooks, unique to every team.
  • CONTROL EVERY MOVE - Slow down the clock and make the play on both sides of the ball with Total Defensive Control (TDC) and Action Control Time (ACT).  Pause the action and put your players in position to deliver game changing hits with TDC, or use Action Control Time to dominate defenses with dives, spins, jukes, and sprints.
  • DRAW HOT ROUTES EVERYWHERE - Draw up Hot Routes for passing, running, and defense. Even save your best (or craziest!) routes as audibles.
  • MULTIPLE MADDEN NFL MODES - Jump right in with Exhibition Mode, play through an entire 16-game NFL season in Season Mode, or relive the 2010/2011 playoffs.

The game is set at $7 at the moment and has availability listed for the US, Canada and Japan but since Madden NFL 11 was uploaded by various other Electronic Arts regions we're sure it's just a matter of time before availability becomes broader.

Madden NFL 12: Now available for the BlackBerry PlayBook!

Sweet. Except of course the trailer isn't specifically for Playbook but hopefully it'll have killer graphics as well.

I'm surprised Balsille didn't make sure NHL 2012 got on the PB first.
Maybe he's looking at buying a football team now :)

I'm not a big football fan, personally I'd love to see NHL 12 on the PlayBook. But this is definitely great news to see such a high profile game ported over. Keep it up EA.

Who was the bozo who started the rumor in the forums that EA is dropping support for PlayBook? DISCREDITED!

Tried to download this and got an error. Something about being updated and available in 24 hours.

Has anyone been able to download it successfully? I keep getting an error "this item is being updated check back in 24 hours"

Same old, same old. See EA's Need for Speed Shift on OS7. Lots of hype around here and it was pulled by EA.

This is a good sign that they've got game developers taking the platform seriously. I really hope RIM doesn't force me to buy these games and apps again for my future BBX phone. It would be great to be able to run ALL your apps on the Playbook or BBX phone...Maybe even have a cloud game save, so I can play at home then continue on the phone when I leave the house.

Yes I would love to see FIFA 12 and NHL 12 as well...would be freaking awesome!! Own both of those games for my PS3 and would be cool to have them on the go with the playbook as well!!

Love it. I don't normally play games. I've only bought one so far for PlayBook (the RPG Eternal Legacy - great game), but this is a pretty good bet at being the second.

saw it at the top of the new releases in PB AW when i woke up a little while ago and immediately went to DL (remember buying M94 with money I worked for at 13 years old).... but same 24 hrs error... hopefully before i go to work tonite I can get it that would be tits

Are you kidding me??? it says that is not supported by my current device this an error or a joke??? looks like they don't want everybody to have their game.

Are there no real screenshots/gameplay for the actual app (I don't have my PlayBook with me at the time so I can't go to the App World download)?

The screenshots in App World look pretty great. I'm psyched. Still unable to purchase as of right now, due to the "24 hour" error others have reported. But at least we're getting the error BEFORE spending our money, and not after, so there's really no reason to complain. I'm just happy knowing we're even getting Madden.

This game is in the "gift" folder on AppWorld. I knew RIM would do right by its customers :) Just kidding!!! Still getting the 3300 error :o(

Amazing the number of ways Rim can fu@k up. EA releases a great game and it gives an error when I try to download. Aren't there any freakin QA on the apps? Its not like develpoers are releasing hundreds of apps every day that you can't test them before release...Its all crappy ebooks day after day and Rim can't get a decent app actually can be downloaded before its released....the clown duos are running this company to the ground.

Did you know about the numerous apps from gameloft and EA that was smooth from launch to download ?

You do realize that EA may be responsible for the error, right? But then, you likely don't realize since that doesn't fit with your "RIM is a disaster" theory, right? No, it's not possible for people like you that are so determined to find fault with RIM to see that others make mistakes as well and sometimes, just sometimes, RIM actually hasn't done anything wrong.

Let me guess... when there was a wide-spread ISP outage recently, that was RIM's fault? Or when IM+ had a purchase price error caused by Shape, that was somehow RIM's fault too?

Yeah, I get it... RIM has made plenty of mistakes lately. But you are so focused on finding RIM's screw-ups that at this point you simply blame them for everything. Give it a rest. RIM doesn't get everything wrong, no matter how hard you try to suggest they do.

I vowed not to buy anything off of Appworld until they gave us 2.0. Damn you RIM! You're not playing fair! (Presses Purchase) it's not's not fair...

C'mon now everyone. Can this really be that good? $60 on PS3 and Xbox and a $tablet is selling it for $7? Can anyone say "you get what you pay for?" It just does not make sense and it would stand to reason that the game could not be that great?

I could be completely wrong however. I of course do not own a Playbook. I am just asking the simple question, how good can it be? Without an actual controller, I just see a game like this being a pain in the you know what to actually play with any seriousness. Someone please tell me if I am wrong. Someone who has actually played the game though please.

Re: above - I think if people wanted the full $60 game they need the time, a large enough screen and physical controls to satisfy their hunger for a game with this much depth. I see the mobile version of Madden as being a great time waster on the couch or in bed at night or even to fit in a quick game on the bus in to work in the morning. It's like Dead Space - It's been recreated for the mobile market and the Playbook is a great platform to execute HD graphics on a screen with enough space to efficiently use multitouch controls. People are paying $7 or £7 for a mobile game, not a console release. I dare say madden fans will get both for gaming on the go and in the living room if they like it that much.

In other news - woke up this morning to find Madden available in the UK. YUS!!! Needed a solid sports game, Real Football 2011 just wasn't cutting it for me and Let's Golf 2 is great but far too cutesy. Time for some hardcore Playbooking... ooon my playbook. Ha!
