There is surely something badly wrong if BOTH CEOs need to explain a 3 day outage.
Make a simpler system for good ness sake. By all means keep the super secure BIS/BES system for those who need it and off, as an option a regular data/carrier system to the restof us.
Heck, I'll give up push email too. I never did like it that much.

That would make a LOT of sense. I love my Blackberry but I really don't care about neither BIS or BES. The phone would be just as great to me with a regular IMAP email client and regular internet.

I really liked how they handled it. By both showing up & apologizing they are showing that they are involved & that they care. People complain that they are arrogant & dismissive...well not any more.

security is what rim is all about....... doing what you ask removes that and makes it "just like the rest". Really the only people who should be complaining are the businesses that have incorporated blackberries into there business. For simple end users like myself, who cares if bbm went down...? life goes on.......

Hi,
Mike and Jim, you did well and let the people know what is happening. It's true there may be those who 'depend' on the service for business and work may be upset with the outage.
Personally, I did not have any difficulty and I am on AT&T in USA.
Keep up the good work!

I couldnt agree more. I'm happy with the way they dealt with this outage.

and there I thought that RIM was paying homage to Steve Jobs by providing us with 3 days of silence

Relax. We all survived without mobile phones in the 90's. They apologised and were united as a CEO's. Maybe the outage was caused by QNX and playbook os 2.0 testing.
Keep on crackberrying people. Its secure does the what a mobile phone is supposed to do extremely well. and isn't a massive time wasting advice.
