OS 7.1.0.402 has leaked for the BlackBerry Bold 9790. This is an unofficial (leaked) OS, so while it's mostly safe to install, remember to use caution when updating your device. If you need help along the way, you can head into our help forums or check out some of our BlackBerry 101 articles including How to Install or Upgrade to a new OS or How to Upgrade Your BlackBerry OS Using App Loader. If you do install this OS, hit up the forums thread below for findings, fixes and more discussion.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS).

* Thanks, Lyricidal & ALKi3

Leaked OS 7.1.0.402 for the BlackBerry Bold 9790

Well how do you know when its official?? I have an option to upgrade my BlackBerry Bold 9930 to 7.1.0 Bundle 921 but is it official??

The only time I ever have anything official on my phone is the first day I buy it. I want this phone Rim please make it happen!!!

Its sad knowing you have such a great phone but the carriers lack in pushing out offical OS!! I'm still stuck on 7.0 for my 9790 with Rogers Wireless!!

I feel your pain too! Mobilicity in Canada does the same thing. It's so frustrating!

So I chose to install 7.1.342 on my 9810 (released by TeleNorway) and had some significant freezes with it, but I really liked the hotspot feature and screen lock when sliding the keyboard closed. Now though, I have a physical problem with my phone and have to return it to a depot to get it fixed so I reverted back to 7.0.585 so they'd take it back. My accelerometer stopped working and now I can't calibrate the compass or rotate my screen at all, battery pulls don't even help. Total pain in the rear...

I have 6gb of data but I can't seem to go over even 1gb on my data plan and hotspot would really help me out in non wireless zones. Bring on 7.1!!! I don't get why rogers is delaying on OS updates!

REVIEW
I installed it since it went out, but there are some problems that make me go back to 7.1.247....
First the battery drain was huge, i have 100% charged and in 3 hours in standby and some bbchat all the battery was gone. Besides that, the phone gets extremely hot while you use it.
I try like 5 or 6 battery pulls , but they were worthless, the baterry and the excesive heat in the back part, made me go back to the .247....
