OS 7.1.0.342 has leaked for the BlackBerry Torch 9860. This is an unofficial (leaked) OS, so while it's mostly safe to install, remember to use caution when updating your device. If you need help along the way, you can head into our help forums or check out some of our BlackBerry 101 articles including How to Install or Upgrade to a new OS or How to Upgrade Your BlackBerry OS Using App Loader. If you do install this OS, hit up the forums thread below for findings, fixes and more discussion.
*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

What about us 9850 owners.......
DaedalusIcarusHelios Mar 20, 2012 at 10:56 am
Yeah, I really want a new build for my 9850. I've missed a few phone calls and an alarm because the stupid audio decides to stop working, requiring a battery pull. I had enough of those with my Storm. They need to get this crap fixed!

I'm a Rogers Wireless customer. They're NOT updating cause they're D!@K$ like that. SO Yesterday, I loaded on the Bell / Telus .267 update (they're both the exact same) AND NOW My phone KICKS A$$!! BUT I was just thinking to myself; "You know, RIM should continue to update 7.1, cause some more tweaking can be done AND NOW It's done!
COINCIDENCE?
Personally, I think RIM should make A LOT more tweaks, to the point of os7.5 release - BUT - SURPRISE the market with the update, to help sell off the existing os7's, and earn some good press.
slheins Mar 20, 2012 at 2:45 pm
Do you really think RIM is capable of earning good press? It has become the scapegoat of the market! If somethings wrong with the iPhone, lets find a mistake on a blackberry. If somethings not quite working with an android, they'll say "blackberry doesnt even have this feature". For journalists and market analysts this is a dream come true, because no matter how boring their jobs might be right now,...they can always down RIM.
Searzy Mar 20, 2012 at 2:56 pm
Scapegoats - EXACTLY.
Unfortunately, the US is always RIM bashing, and the CDN press is always "listening" to an analyst from Jaguar Financial saying to sell the handset biz - they're going to die.
Has anyone researched Jaguar Financial?
It's a dinky little financial firm in Toronto, who's shares trade for less than a nickle.
"People" want RIM shares to be the lowest possible - for takeover.
That's the reality they face.
In terms of RIM earning good press; They need to be more like Apple.
wow, deliver, and market an amazing campaign.
I've said it quite a few times what RIMS problems are on the site - you can search my posts.
But, this situation is exactly like Apple during the early 90's... and look at them now.
