Leaked OS for the BlackBerry Torch 9850

By Adam Zeis on 2 Apr 2012 01:01 pm EDT

BlackBerry 7

OS has leaked for the BlackBerry torch 9850. This is an unofficial (leaked) OS, so while it's mostly safe to install, remember to use caution when updating your device. If you need help along the way, you can head into our help forums or check out some of our BlackBerry 101 articles including How to Install or Upgrade to a new OS or How to Upgrade Your BlackBerry OS Using App Loader. If you do install this OS, hit up the forums thread below for findings, fixes and more discussion.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

What an i... 1st start to post leaked OSs to offical OS forum and now start to link wrong threads to blog posts...

Huh? What are you whining about?

Phew, this just made my day. Its relieving to see a new os release for the 9850 (even if it is just a leak). I hope this won't be the last, as I love my 9850.

I hope this helps with a lot of freezing that my wife complains about all the time.

Here a much quicker mirror:

MUCH quicker. 5 minutes VS the other one has been running for 20 min, and says it has 19 min left!

Man, no one has this phone huh? Except me... and I love it!

so how's the leak? What does it fix? Should I download? I'm on the

I have the 9850 as well, and love it!

I was hoping to find out exactly what this leak is improving before I download it.

So far, I don't see anything different .... Though I think I for once did not hear that "pop" sound when you reboot ....

Wait, device analyzer has added stuff to it

I get that pop sound with previous release as well. Also, my 9850 randomly stops producing audible notifiers for calls, alarms, everything. It is like the speaker goes dead. Seems to happen after I use an app like waze or pandora...or use the headphone jack. Does this happen to anybody else?

Yes on the losing all sounds. I got a replacement for that same reason, and after a couple of months, the new phone is doing it also but not as often. Haven't nailed down a trigger event yet but annoying when it happens! Would be great if an update would fix it!

2) Also when you dial to call, it does parenthesis and the dash by itself ...

Huh? My Sprint 9850 is currently on and there is now an OTA download available for
