Following up on the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Torch 9810 getting leaks for OS 7.1.0.205, Torch 9860 owners can join in on the upgrade fun. If leaked OS' are your thing, then by all means grab your USB cable, fire up app loader, and get this one installed. Don't forget to back up your data first.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

We should thank all those people who leak these OS updates because mobile companies will take years to update the official versions.

I would love to update to this version, but last time I updated a leaked version, my phone bricked and I had to get it sent away. Now I am forever skeptical until official releases come out.

How come when I update the OS it messes up my address book -- creating duplicate contacts and changing names and stuff?

shuabert, backup and wipe it. Then restore, should take care of things.

Anyone have a clue why Blackberry Travel doesn't work with this leak or the previous 7.1? seems rather odd

I had the same problem with BlackBerry Travel. Uninstall and reinstall corrected it.

Is there a 9850 leak?

The current 9850 release is horrible. Media center leaks and crashes.

For the first time ever, my BBM chat history is still there after the update. Usually I have only with the contacts, but no chat history. I used BlackBerry Desktop Software to do the update (not the AppLoader method).

I have updated my phone with this software update; however, I don't see the NFC capabilities. When I touch the top part to view my connections it only shows my carrier, wifi, and mobile hotspot and bluetooth. It doesn't show the NFC network. I had called rogers and they said the Blackberry 9860 does support NFC. Is it just me with this issue or does any one else have it?
