Leaked: OS for the BlackBerry Torch 9850

BlackBerry Torch 9850
By Bla1ze on 2 Mar 2012 02:50 am EST

In the last batch of OS leaks, the missing device was the BlackBerry Torch 9850. No matter though as OS has now also shown up for the device. This one does include the media server option as well as some battery optimizations, so have at it. Just make sure you drop by the CrackBerry Forums and share whatever else you may find within mmmkay?

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

Same happened to me .. Verizon??

I have the 9900, I heard there was a new OS?

I gotta check when I get home ,, n e big changes ?

-improved OS
-DLNA support

My device (sprint) just asked if I wanted to update to

And what is DLNA Support?

"Digital Living Network Alliance".. You can wirelessly hook it up to your PS3 or other systems and stream movies or music, pictures etc.. onto your system from you phone..

Mine seems to be stuck on "Back up device data".

EDIT: Looks like everything loaded ok. Just took a long time.

how long was it in that mode for ???

Anyone know if this fixes the autotexting learning problems?

For example, in suretype mode, if you try to type "be" it just automatically reverts to "br," which autotexts to a open parenthesis.

What should happen is that the phone learns your typing habits and preferences and will figure out that most of the time you mean to type "be," and not "br."

There are a few other instances that makes this a pain as well.

Man officially upadated os for 9850 on verizon and sprint .. thats cool... Good to know that atleast some carriers in US are still showing love to BB.. (t mobile and att high time for you guys for some official os 7.1 announcements)

Isn't this the way folks wanted RIM to operate? Just as you find out about an update, it's already in the wild as official?

Sprint 9850: 7.1.0 Bundle 921 available

Yes that is true for sprint. What changes does it do?

Any ideal what exactly the battery saver does? I can not find any detail info

It is official now doing OTA now via Sprint. Hopefully. This will fix some issues with the BB button. Mine sticks or something and I get irritated.
