Leaked OS for the BlackBerry Bold 9900

By Michelle Haag on 6 Dec 2011 06:29 pm EST

BlackBerry 7

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 gets a little more love today in the form of leaked OS As per normal, no word on the changes yet, so if you give this one a go let us know if you spot anything new. As always, use caution and back up your device before attempting to install.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

Yeaaah lets see what's the battery brings!

Will it work on my 9700? Sorry, couldn't resit, the old ones are the best. Seriously though, there's been lots of talk in the forums about .580 being pulled with no explanation - maybe this is a bug fix so a minor update and the new .580.

I assume no wi-fi hotspot in this release?

You assume correctly.

Yet again, CDMA gets the cold shoulder...

Yea and now my PlayBook is my new favorite toy again :/ how lobg has it been since its gotten a new os?

I'm sticking to 7.1 use the hotspot too much not to.

Ahhhh, There's a (1) missing,,!!!

Do we know when they will release an update for the 9930? I am tired of getting error 102 and having to wipe and reinstall software! I love this phone, just hoping for a fix soon!

whats the diff from bundle 2090 for AWS users? carrierIQ free? ;)

Ill just wait for the official updates, thank you

9930 is like a piece of shit or something in RIM's eyes huh? /:

Alpha Omega

no its just that most of the world runs off GSM not CDMA. Thats one of the reason i left sprint.

I just wish Rogers would get a move 9900 is still on the release OS I think it's something like 261...My phone seems to take a break every so often (for about 2 or 3 seconds) and I'm pretty sure there have been improvements since OS.261
I have never tried a leaked OS...might have to soon

OS 7.1 rocks. If you have a choice of leaks, why would anyone choose this? Mobile Hotspot works great and the OS build is stable and battery life is good (for me anyway)

does hotspot mean it works exactly lime a router? or does bell/rogers find a way to charge extra for the hotspot feature?

I would continue to use 7.1, however, Beta Zone apps don't like 7.1...unless there is a way around it I don't know.

Can't download. Fileserve really doesn't like me. :(

Installed last night. Seems stable right now.

Has anybody installed this build, and notice under third party apps, a bbm personalization and privacy setting, that sounds a lot like this ciq program that's been a popular subject, it takes info of how you use your phone, and surprise surprise, its default setting is 'enabled', but nothing personal is sent they say. Hmmm

Just thought I'd point it out, but the build is fairly stable, still miss 7.1 tho, battery seemed better on it, although I wish a less buggy build would leak of that one!! :P

Shane on my 9900 OS :)

I just hope the battery life will be better !!!!!

Can't take it anymore with my 9900 lasting only 12 hours !!!!
