Leaked: OS for the BlackBerry Bold 9900

By Bla1ze on 24 Aug 2011 07:21 pm EDT

BlackBerry OS7

People have been asking for a leaked OS for their fancy new BlackBerry Bold 9900's just so happens OS has been around for a little while and now -- you all can have it. Not sure what, exactly it improves upon since it's only been available for a short time but we're sure you'll all let us know. Be safe, back up your data before load this one up.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

Does this fix the back button "app switcher" issue?

Nice, I just exchange my 9900 because of that issue, thinking it was defective. Glad to know it was software, as from the sounds of it I would've found it in this one eventually as well :-o

@Bla1ze ... Always dropping fire. Keep it up brother

May have to give this a go

Does this phone even exist in the united states?

is there a findings/fixes forum thread for this? or is it mixed into the 9930 one?

There is a separate thread under "Leaked OS"

Please tell me they're going to do something about this battery life. Cause it is horrible how fast it dies. I love the phone and all. But RIM better do something on this issue. PLEASE ASAP.....

Agreed... i can barely get 8 hrs on mine... i have to plug it in mid day or as soon as i get home from work. It works much better on wifi though. I cant wait till next month when my office gets wifi access..

But this is crazy. Wi-fi or not. It still does not last long enough. At all at allllll. I'm really upset. This might make me back off from rim after being a BB lover for over 10 years. Had every phone possible and now this. Such a perfect phone. But no battery what's so ever. FIX ASAP

been over 3 hours that i updated my phone and the battery life has gone down by 7% only on heavy usage that included BBM,browsing and a couple of reboots.

it seems more stable than .317. feels faster
the previous screen freezing issue has been sorted out

BATTERY life seems to be a lot better. Guess RIM has been listening to our woes.

I just installed this on my Bold 9900, I have noticed when looking through the pictures (I have about 5 saved) the transitions seem to be blurry, then take about half a second and end up loading and are then "smoothe" looking.

I havn't really noticed too much of a difference in battery life, although my battery life is as well, very horrible. I don't even get a full day of usage (moderate - heavy) without having to charge it again (from full).

Anyways, I'll be reverting back :) just my opinion.

Battery life still the same U jus broke my heart man can live wid dis can't Liv without this

Hey charandas u from mumbai ? Whts the status of battery as of now ?.thnx .Me from mumbai too

So you basicly you have an "android phone", except that you have a crappy os an a crappy app store ROFL.

Sweet! Just ordered mine... Can't wait to get it... And already a leak to install?

Life's good! :D

Can someone post the file somewhere? Link's gone.

Cheers :)

i dont see what the big fuss is about in regards to battery life? ya its not as good as some of the other berries, but its still better than most other devices out there. iphone battery life is garbage, i got 6 hours, with turning bluetooth, 3G, and wifi off, and still tried to use it less to conserve battery

74 Bronco

I've had no problems with battery life. I'm a moderate user and my 9900 has no problem lasting all day.

This file is not working on my win 7 64-bits, anyone else faced this problem?

They should, however, if you're having the same problem I've found a few of us to have, you'll need to un-install both the upgrade & DM, reboot, re-install DM from the BB website and then re-install the upgrade.

Be sure to delete the Vendor.xml file, plug your BB in USB and launch DM, it will detect the update and ask if you wish to apply. You may also chose to update which ever way you're accustomed to (running loader.exe etc.)

Hope this helps!

P.S. Your problem "won't work" is pretty vague, if you simply mean it won't extract or what not, download from another source, it simply got corrupt - worked fine on my x64 Win7 PC.

Interesting find - WeatherEye no longer works on this version - claims to not be for this version of the OS.

Well im currently downloading this leaked os to see wat goes.. I currently having a problem.. Just as how the torch started out that it didnt have the focus feature on the camera that caused it to take crappy text photos. and then finally the corrected that problem. Well here goes

Well i downloaded the OS.. But i dont know if its me.. But i having some difficulty installing this leaked os.. can some one help me. (bold 9900 rogers)

File removed from the link above.

File removed, but found it on google... Though for some odd reason, every one I've downloaded Norton Internet Security keeps saying it isn't safe and automatically deleting it /=
