Fancy a new leak for the BlackBerry Torch? Of course you do. It took a while but here is OS 6.0.0.600 for the BlackBerry Torch 9800. No list of what, exactly has changed as of yet but you all know what to do. Pick it apart and let us know in the comments and in the forums what the deal is. Good, bad, ugly? We wanna know.
*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

Update:
That's what Ive thought. I think this is different from the one I've tested (full java base swap thingy). This would surely a good upgrade!

Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone knows..
Will this work on my 9700?
jdesignz Jun 21, 2011 at 5:03 am
Ofcourse not. The title says, for the 9800 models only. You can check out the forum for the leaked .600 for your device.

LOOL exactly people are so dumb
drakesaliasonline Jun 21, 2011 at 8:37 am
Do you know you did the samething yesterday for the "PlayBook" OS, Everything has a title and a number if its a BlackBerry. Yours is a "Bold 9700" and this post is about a "Torch 9800" *close but no cigar*. I hope your new here and not that experienced with BlackBerry. Just check out the Forums and you will find out some helpful information about your phone.

As much as I want to gt excited about another leak, I still know that it won't make my Torch lightning fast...

Skezza Jun 21, 2011 at 7:10 am
Seems OK so far, not too bothered about it speeding my 9800 up, just want a better battery life,
Email locks up sometimes after having my phone connected to pc via usb.
Yes I've done 2 battery pulls since installing
J-MIKE Jun 21, 2011 at 7:42 am
Won't let me install it... tried with app loader too and it won't find the update. Did battery pull... still nothing. Restarted the computer.... still nothing. I"m with Telus... all previous leaks always worked fine ... bb desktop always find the update... any body have a suggestion?
mrtouchedme Jun 21, 2011 at 7:51 am
Delete the vendor.xml file
pmccartney Jun 21, 2011 at 9:03 am
Why?
Typically, with a leaked OS, there is no need to delete the vendor file as it is an empty file and contains no Vendor information.
Is this leak somehow different than the others before it?
drakesaliasonline Jun 21, 2011 at 8:45 am
I'm going to download this when I get back home and see how it is, if its ok then I'll leave my hybrid alone *well until a New Hybird is out* :)
drakesaliasonline Jun 22, 2011 at 3:44 pm

*Update*
1) I'm back, and the internet seems faster (and I'm not just saying that)
2) The App World looks different, the start up screen and some other screens in it.

i wouldn't be able to update to this from a mac right?
Cazurela Jun 21, 2011 at 10:51 am
Bootcamp / windows partition will surely work ;)
Desktop Manager for installing leaks is the only reason I haven't thrown away my crappy HP netbook
diruocco Jun 21, 2011 at 10:58 am
ya i knew about bootcamp and knew that it could be done, but i wanted to know that it could or couldn't be done on mac os x. I dont think you can right?
technomensch Jun 21, 2011 at 10:52 am
Why is it so hard to find instructions to install a new OS using Linux?
Correction- Why does RIM make it so hard to install new OSes using Linux?
In all honesty, I know it's "virtually impossible" without Virtual Box (yes, pun intended), but still, extremely frustrating.

I was waiting for this leak for the longest time, and when it finally leaks, my laptop stops turning on -_- gotta get to a friends house to install this !
henghs Jun 21, 2011 at 11:37 am
Please post related feedback and not other unrelated stuffs. Lots of people are reading this and appreciate some constructive comments on it. :-)
katlegob Jun 21, 2011 at 11:44 am
Firstly i did a fresh install, and so my feedback is that the OS 6.0.0.600 is more stable than the previous Leaked OS 6 - .448 .534 .570 .576
1) Insalling apps seems to be quicker than previous leaked
2) Takes less time to restart the device
3) The Browser seems is vastly quicker than previous leaked/Hybrid OS
4) Not sure about battery life/leakache still to test that
4) All in all by far the best, its must have for Torch users and am not sure what Hybrid developers will do to maake it better because it seems perfect to me.

I did deleted the vendor file... I followed the same good procedure like I did for all the other leaks>>>I'm using windows XP... don't know if that do a difference... Maybe I'm removed it from the computer and start all again. Still not working, bb desktop won't recognized the update. I'm also logged off the internet connection to this this update...Somebody help!!
ixa Jun 21, 2011 at 1:52 pm

- The huge delay between photo app and viewing pictures is corrected in this.
- On Telus Mobility, after a reboot, I was getting prompted to choose my International roaming settings every time, that's now fixed.
- seems speedier scrolling through screens and in and out of native "apps" like messages, contacts, camera, etc.
- the browser seems faster in pinch-to-zoom operations and scrolling around - maybe not faster, but more responsive.
That's about it that I've noticed, so far so good!
J-MIKE Jun 21, 2011 at 3:48 pm
FINALLY!! I got my 9800 updated! I will agree with all the above mentioned by advil_yum! And if you guys wanted to know how I managed to finally install it... simple... I didn't have to remove the vendor file...
Numero12 Jun 21, 2011 at 5:36 pm
currently installing it! But waiting for OS 7!!!
mak7912 Jun 21, 2011 at 6:29 pm
According to RIM, OS 7 will not be coming to the 9800 due to hardware incompatibility

Daaamiit !
Frehley Jun 21, 2011 at 6:39 pm
Just installed and did first battery pull. Booted up in 2 minutes, browser seems faster.
Transitions while swiping through the All, Favorites, Media...etc menus still lags. Will report on battery life tomorrow.
BeLO Jun 21, 2011 at 7:35 pm
i've installed it, deleted vendor xml file, uninstalled it, reinstalled it, restarted my laptop, battery pulled my torch and nada! i cant get dm to prompt me about the new update, and apploader is no better! anyone have any ideas??
J-MIKE Jun 21, 2011 at 8:08 pm
BeLo, you don't have to remove the vendor file. I had the same issue. Install the os software to ur computer, disconnect your computer from the internet (very important) start dm... and it will prompt you the update!! Hope that works for you.
shift2112 Jun 21, 2011 at 8:48 pm
Upgraded from .576. .600 is far better. Battery drain seems greatly improved, browser is much more responsive overall performance is much better.
Still having issue with volume buttons in media player. They cease to exist as volume controls and only jump forward and back through songs. I have to jump back and forth from "activate headset" and "activate speakerphone" to get the volume to pop up and am very lucky if it works.
Found picture and camera transition much faster now. Definitely one of the better builds.
RockSteady87#CB Jun 22, 2011 at 4:19 pm
am i the only one who lost all their contacts? even after doing a back up on desktop manager and bb protect?
TorchedNokia Jun 23, 2011 at 8:55 am
.. With 7 on the horizon and BB's engineers cooking up half baked product, I think so..
smarwah2 Jun 23, 2011 at 4:14 pm
FIVE NOTICEABLE FEATURES ABOUT THIS NEW LEAK.....................
1. Faster installation of rom in less than 10 mins (normally takes 20-25 mins)
2. Better audio and call quality approx. 30% louder than previous roms. In Headphones its real BLAST !!!
3. Internet browser faster and displays images faster even on EDGE networks
4. Faster activation and installation of user themes ( even no need of Battery Pull)
5. New Blackberry app BB Travel in built and camera quality and video playback very quick and without any jitters.
Overall good and satisfactory experience for older devices like 9800.
Battery life is average and not maximized ,may be due to too many apps in cache. There has been no change in GPS navigation which remains poor for Asian countries.
heaven1794 Jun 24, 2011 at 12:26 am
I found a huge bug with youtube, as sound is coming way after the video, and the videos are no longer clear and are very pixelated. It is also lagging in between sections of the video.
House seller Jun 24, 2011 at 3:07 pm
I downloaded it with no problems, it seems a little faster and longer battery life, keep them coming RIM.
werban74 Jun 26, 2011 at 4:42 am
