Ugh..we're not going to see another 9650 build are we? I feel like the 9800 has gotten 3 updates in the last couple of weeks, must be nice. At least its good for hybrid users

570 was a bad os for my torch. It was the worse radio. where before I never saw EDGE, I had a constant loss of 3G. After every call the dreadful hourglass was on. But now with 576 it seems to be doing better but I don't see a couple of features that the 570 had. When u call a number that is not in ur phonebook it used to pop up a menu which had options that allowed u to add it to ur phonebook. Another feature I don't see on the 576 is that when u dialed someone on 570 it would vibrate when the call connected and disconnected. I use the bluetooth most of the time but when I'm not using it, I found that feature to be pretty useful. So far 576 seems to be pretty stable no battery drain or overheating (issues I faced with 570). Will post further findings.

Mail2a, you've pretty much nailed everything I've seen as well. The overheating is completely reolved. Reboot time is significantly faster after reinstalling my apps. My battery is lasting far longer than the previous 570 leak, and the lag issue seems to have been worked out too. I'm gonna hunt down more improvements in the browsing.

Still no .576 for the 9780 :( , but I beileve it will come out somewhere very soon, I hope.

wow.... been on it for an hr or so.. and so far hands down best firmware yet no glitches thus far seems really quick, great build ;D

Installed it a couple of hours ago.

It seems to be a bit faster than the stock OS that came with it. (When I first got it a week [and a half] ago.)

Battery usage: Meh.
Overall experience: Okay-ish. :-)

It's pretty snappy. That's all I can say.

I never posted a comment on leaked OS before as I could never really tell the difference. This is the actual first time that I can see the improvement in the responsiveness. This built is fast (and I have had almost every single OS installed this far), actually fastest yet! I love it!

None of the .5** have worked for me. I hope this one does.

Posted by sk8er_tor Thursday, Jun 02, 2011 357 days ago

As with other .5** versions, this one is not working well for me. Battery drain, hourglass every hour or so for about a minute makes phone inoperable. Other than that, this OS was good. Back to .486 for me. Not sure why anything above that version hasn't worked well on my phone.

No real changes when it come to looks. MUCH faster start up, smother scrolling. I skipped 570 because no one liked it. This one is a nice bump from 4something I was on last.

playbook will no longer bridge with torch after update how do i downgrade

Posted by avelvethammer Thursday, Jun 02, 2011 357 days ago

same way you upgraded. Just pick the other OS file to setup....don't forget about the vendor.xml file

No issues with this version and the bridge to my Playbook. You may want to try a security wipe on the Playbook. The bridge between my Playbook and Torch was buggy and difficult to pair until I did this and it has been flawless since and on this new Torch version as well.

this build is much better and faster then .570 the only thing i have noticed that hasn't changed since .570 is that sometimes my application icons appear then reappear after i go to homescreen in back. not a big deal but does get a little annoying.

I've noticed the same thing too.

Now found in call history... usually you tap the highlight on one of your calls it called out automatically now it just highlights and then you have to press the green call button like that no more accidental phone calls

Posted by Xavier666 Friday, Jun 03, 2011 356 days ago

I wouldn't call that a feature, I was thinking it was a bug. I was returning a bunch of calls today and looked like an idiot hitting the highlighted numbers without making the calls.

I've never had an issue accidentally making calls from that screen.

Anyone else? Is this a bug or a new feature?

This OS has definitely made my phone nearly all of what I wanted it to be from the day I bought it. It has definitely sped everything up, including stabilized and sped up the browser a little, though not nearly enough. This is by far the best of the 5 series updates. Worth the install IMO.

Now, if the next one could take everything up a couple of notches and the browser and maps 10 notches we would have the best phone on the current market in relation to it's release date.

One thing I've noticed is that the Options menu from the Home screen doesn't work for me. It opens but then immediately closes.

This download is not updating my phone at all. Any suggestions?

Finally got the download, about to see what has changed...hopefully it fixed the bugs that came with the last build (internet issues on my Torch)
