Leaked OS for the BlackBerry Torch 9800

Haha same day Rogers released .448. They couldve went to .450 since its bugs free... But ill see what people say about this and then upgrade but for now I'm cool with .450.

Just got a torch a little while ago from Telus. The device says its version v6.0.0.246. Is that seriously the latest supported version. When I click on software updates it says it is up to date.

Telus has not givin us updates I have installed version 9800/ which was a leak and it worked well. I am downloading this new leak and will install later.

.246 is the most up to date official release. The latest leaks, .448 and .450 seem to both really work well.

I'm hoping to hear good things about this release in the next couple of days.

Please update to either this leak, or the .448 leak.

.246 was so laggy and slow. It's a shame they are still selling these phones with this version on them. it gives such a bad first experience with it.

Update your phone and it will be like a brand new phone.

Sounds good to me. The red *OS Disclaimer kinda scared me a bit. It seems like nobody really has problems with it though.

Installed, everything is very snappy and quick, this is a large update. Noticed on the reboot the connection logo much larger, works very well so far- great update!

update forgot my visual voicemail password- never happend before and its back to how the leak was before 448 pictures would take forever to load. idk if the split webpage issue is fixed though

Thank god ! .450 was horrible. It got worse as the days went on, it was slow, and jus plain retarded!! I hope this leak is better. Can't wait to download wen I get home.

been half hour for the 486. the only glitch so far is, my song list in Pandora went back to being a random list. when I upgraded to the 450, my song ;list was put in alphabetical order. so after thjis download, back to a random list.

Well before the update BlackBerry Protect wouldn't work because of a cod error or summit (Im in the UK) and now, low and behold and BIG FAT welcome when it rebooted. Why, thank you very much! ;)

THANK YOU BLACKBERRY GODS!! finally a good system! i was pulling my hair out with .450 this one is way quicker and very smooth thus far. can't wait to play around. Am i the only cat that thinks he's gone completely nerd, gettin all kinds of giddy when a new OS leaks? hahaha

Just did a battery pull and everything is running smoothly so far. Seems pretty quick, hopefully it is stable as well.

I am having this same issue, i downloaded it 3 times and all 3 times my Nortons is catching it and deleting it. SO i dont know what to do..installing a leak isnt worth the security risk to me if this is the case...maybe blaize or someone can shed some light on this issue

I have upgraded from .337 to .450 it was horrible and then I downgraded back to 9800/ Is this one anybetter than .448 I have noticed lately a huge memory leak with the BBM

I've been using it for a couple hours...
Kind of odd.. it increased the size of many of my 3rd party apps.
Also I feel like the icon dock is significantly less responsive than before. I swipe my finger and it takes a seconf to react :(

Will most likely switch back and spend my night rearranging the icons and whatnot again. So annoying.

I heard alot of complaining about the 450 update ! I never had any problems with it at all. I run alot of questionable apps such as bbm . My torch was very fast and responsive on 450 I didn't have any battery pulls except for when I deleted a app. I am minutes away from having this new leak on my phone. I will also be loading it on my girlfriends torch as well. She has always complained about the 246 version. That is the only version that was flawed. I am using the new os and it seems ok. I will just have to see how it goes over the next few days. In my past experience updates have been good. Good luck to all. I am super tired from geeking out all night. Thank you crackberry. Wonder when telus will get their act together and start giving updates to the many pissed off torch users. ? ?

Am I missing something...I clicked on download and its doing nothing..can simeone please guide me in the right direction? Thanks..

can someone instructed me on how to save my 3rd party prior to downloading? Im tired of always having to re-download these applications, thanks in advance

is your wifi working well guys? its seems like it turns off an on, I dunno if its some kind of "dynamic wifi" where it detecs wether you need it or not but its annoying to see it turns off and on... my friend installed the leak and reports the same behavior.

When u dl this just double click the os and it will install to ur blackberry desktop manager. Than u just plug ur phone into it and it will tell u that ur phone has an update available. Than press get update. Than a screen will come up that says to back up data and encrypt as well. U don't have to encrypt. There is also another check box and is says email me when a new update becomes avail able. Uncheck that. And than press update. All of my apps were still in my phone. It backs up ur phone first than it loads the update than restarts it than reloads ur info and apps and tada new os.

Downloaded the update succesfully. Ran the full bb back up of all apps and software. I then ran the downloaded update and attempted to update my device. I am on version and when i plug in the device and attempt it does not pick it up and allow the update. As if i were already on the latest and greatest release. Note sure whats going on but i tried it again and ran the repair. Plugged in the bb and kicked off the desktop manager and i noticed the prompt that says searching for updates for the device but it never finds it........Ugh.... I will wait a couple of days and see what happens.

OK if you have the most up to date desktop software this is how it should go. Ur new download os double click it. It will install to your desktop manager. Then plug your phone in. Than it will tell you that there is an update. If you don't get that message I would be very surprised. This has been a very easy process for me. The only thing I suggest is to double check to see that you have the newest version of desk top manager. If thats all gd than check that your computer has all the updates it needs. Than restart your computer and try again.

when compared to the official .448 , .486 responds much quicker, especially when opening applications and web pages-less lag. battery life seems the same, no significant drain,- so far so good.

U cared enough to look than post a comment. Just do it. It is made by blackberry carriers do not always give updates. So if u have issues with ur torch than do it. It will fix issues that's what updates are for. To fix issues.

Well, I don't have an issue with my Torch. I just had bad experiences with leaked OS's. I upgraded my Torch to .448 from another carrier and it works like a dream. It doesn't have to be from my carrier, just an OFFICIAL RELEASE.

Oh, and yes, I do care enough to look, its just not what I'm looking for.

OK, a few batt pulls fixed the issue.

For some reason, I cannot send photos/files through BBM. Anybody else have this problem? It says "(Recepient) unable to receive file".

Goes both ways too as I cannot receive files/photos from other users as well.

Going to try another restart.

I'm reading this now and contemplating downloading later....no, wait, I'm going to download now....okay, I'll download now but I'll install later....forget it, I'll just download and install now.

Was hoping the update would offer the option to turn on keyboard clicks (for the touchscreen keyboards) but...

I also miss the black & white option in the camera

Went from 450 to 486 after i got the "redundant reboot screen of death". A little quicker, but not much of a different. Just hoping its more stable. Its seems like everytime i reboot i have to cross my fingers.

I have found an issue with receiving pictures on BBM. I now have no option to Accept or Decline, the photo auto-loads. In order to save the photo I have to manually save it(it now goes to SD card instead of Blackberry Photo folder. Anyone else have this problem? any fix that I can do thru options? Everything else is running great.

I did the update last night and I found that when restaring the phone it loads slower and when i had 450 was faster.
I had the smae problem with the BBM file receive issue. To fix that ask the person who you are sending th file to, to do a batt pull and should work.
Also found by swipin through pics laged a bit. 450 had a faster swipe. Some of my games didn't work.
At the end of it all, I downgraded back to 450.
Eh, I just wait till the next os release.

I upgraded from .450 last Friday. IMHO .486 is far better than .450. The only thing I have noticed is a memory leak, my memory did go from around 295 MB down to the vicinity of 250 MB in less than 24 hours, but it does not affect the behavior of the device what so ever, it works great, the battery life is WAY better for me than .450, and it just feels right.

The only reason I noticed the memory leak was because I was checking the battery level, I had 20% left at 11:00 PM. The first thing I do in the morning is listen to a talk radio station using TuneIn Radio while going through my morning routine to get ready for work. So, after streaming a good half hour of radio from 6:30 AM and medium to heavy use during the day ( I did a little of everything... Phone, FB, Twitter, about 40 emails, about 10 geo tagged pictures, browser, etc.) also had WiFi and bluetooth on at all times...

With .450 I actually had to use for the first time the car charger that came with my VM-605 bluetooth. By noon I had to plug in my torch any time I had a chance, or it was dead by 6:00 PM... Not fun at all, I was about to downgrade to .337 the day .486 was leaked.

I used BBSAK to do a device wipe and to install the upgrade. If you do upgrade, try it this way... You don't have to be a rocket scientist to do the procedure, just read the many articles posted on the site, you can't go wrong. And do remember to back-up your 3rd party apps and personal data before messing around with any upgrade.

Good luck peeps.

I update to .486 a wile ago from .448

The good :
Battery life - 50% more time
Faster apps browsing
Faster internet

The bad:
BBDS did not recognize the internal apps, only the 3rd part apps!!!
When you restore the backup, BBgroups will not be restored!!!!
