OS Torch 9800

Well after a long drought for the BlackBerry Torch 9800, we got not one but two OS leaks today! This morning we saw, and now has appeared out of nowhere. No word on why this one came out so soon after, so if you see anything that's fixed or changed let us know!

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS).

grrr i just finished installing *_*

Wtf I finished installing .448 right this second :@. Never thought I'd say this but slow down with the leaks lol.

I wonder if this was leaked because of a big bug in .448 on the Torch or something?

Running .337 now. Hopefully there's a fix for the crummy battery life in here somewhere. Oh, and does anyone else have something going on with their camera? There are times when it will open up, but
won't even work.

Mine has to stay in facial detection mode to wrk. Been waiting for a new OS forever to fix that a couple other things hopefully this one does.

Yeah my camera didn't work sometimes either. I pulled the battery then put it back in and it worked.

Wow, I JUST finished installing 448 and was reading through my XPRSS and saw this. Holy flippin' snapper doodle.
I opened up XPRSS, when to the crackberry feed, saw Leaked OS ya just installed that. Read the second feed, third feed, fourth feed - Leaked ya, just installed that.....wait say whaaaaaaat. I'm on my way to half in the bag, but not that much yet!

come on now i just finished .448 slow down rim...(dont believe i just said that)

screen locked up on my torchie, had to reboot to get the touch back. that might be the problem.

Woke up the morning after installing and the screen froze. I could hear the clicking, but no movement on the screen. I downgraded to .248 and don't have that problem anymore.

Crazy.... I just finished with .448 LMAO

Did anyone notced a battery change?

Yeah, no lightning! gots a plug. woooooooo! ;)

I hate you guys........ lol

just upgraded frm 9700 to 9800 Wed! Already 3 updates (:

I guess this makes up for the lack of leaks up to this point :) I just finished installing .448, I think I'll wait until I hear some reports about this one.

I'll stick with .448 works good on my torch, Shouldn't be to much of a difference from .448, Don't get me wrong I will be installing .450 after I test .448.

BUT thanks for the love RIM

Thanks a lot, I sincerly hopes this fix this buggy device! Geeesh!

Thankgod I was late for the fo fo eight.

Wow, Two updates within hours!
Noticed .448 defaulted to installing English, German and Spanish Languages where .450 resolved that.
After installing .450 9800 lost its touch capabilities on home screen but rebooted and was fine. Hopefully this update proves worthy!

So far running lightning fast, picture transition much smoother and no problem with camera or focus!

I installed 450 and everything its working normal. Fonts are bigger

I installed, didn't notice much difference from 337, maps still sucks major dick, and now I've lost my Blackberry Podcast by getting a "uncaught exception: java.lang.illegalargument exception" when I click on it!!!

Blackberry has and does play a major role in keeping my life in order, but this bullshit is getting ridiculous, we waited this long for a leaked nothing????

loving it...

Agree with what you've found and has also fixed a homescreen refresh that used to lag and then require reboot to fix. Putting it throught the paces and passing each time, even the browser fix when had full signal but wouldn't load a page. Pictures loading & not lagging or locking up either.

Anyone notice that it screws up the headphone jack recognition. Before installing the leak i had no problems with any headphones i used, Now after the leak my dre headphones or any other one i plug in the blackberry doesn't recognize i click on the activate handset but it just plays softly thru the speaker phone

what Dre's do you use? because my Dre's(solo's) never worked with the torch, and neither did alot of others. unless you were just using them for music.

Installed the version, but unfortunately the sms bug (only 10 recipients allowed) is NOT fixed!!

found a free program to send sms to more then 10 persons at the same time: its called

Just installed. Installation when fine! Another thing I've noticed is that when you plug the USB into your computer, it gives you three options: USB Drive, Sync Media, Charge Only. However, my charge icon is still a lightning bolt. Not a problem for me though.

Didn't it always give those three options? And you're right about the lightning bolt. It no longer fades in and out which was more annoying that anything. But now when fully charged, you see the plug icon in the battery indicating it's being powered using the AC adaptor.

Another thing I found was that streaming music over WiFi is now awesome - no more buffereing while the music is playing which used to happen in .337.

The SMS bug was that when the thread gets to long it loads in the middle, not that it's limited to 10 recipients

where can i get 6.0 for a 9700? website or something?

Just finished installing 450 after installing 448 last night, one thing I have noticed with both 450 and 448 is when I forward a text, it now starts which "the original senders name says" ie, John Smith says then is says the body of the text I am sending, does anyone know how I can stop it from including the senders name in the forwarded text

Did you get any reply on this issue, as I am facing the same?

Guys when i installed the 448 I noticed that the proximity sensor is not working while doing a call :S Im downloading the 450....

I just installed .450 last night and now my universal search doesn't work anymore. Do I have to do anything to get it going again?

loving it...

Can someone give me some tips on how to take this file from my computer to my BB so I can install it? I was having problems downloading it with my mobile web.

This file is not to download onto your Berry directly. It downloads to a PC, runs an application that installs a program on the PC that in turn installs the operating system onto your phone. There are many different procedures to accomplish this. There are many forum discussions on here that give excellent step by step guides. I suggest taking a couple hours just to familiarize yorself with the forums to take advantage of the help available on here!

I downloaded the os update to my pc and installed it! Next I opened my blackberry desktop and connected my device click updateds and the update was ready to be installed on to my torch! it all took less then 45 mins total time upload install and install on blackberry!

just installed and i cant send the contact card throught BBM arrrghhh

OK, dumb question...I've installed 450 on my phone, but now all my settings are back to the factory defaults. Is there a way to use my backup that I created to get all my settings, ringtones, etc back?

Installed it.. facing an interesting change. The carrier icon is no longer AT&T but 'AT&T' with the '' !! Anyone else notice the change??

To me, 450 is the best leak yet - it took all of the speed of 448, and improved the navigation smoothness. Really like this one!

Has anyone noticed BBM & T4BB have newer versions in this leak? Or is it just me? My BBM version is and my T4BB is

omg i thought i was the only 1, i noticed bbm diff on .448 but i wasnt sure... i cant remember wat is the difference either, i jus felt it looked wierd

everything works fine except shift+Curser to paste or copy ,, grrr ,, rest is okay ,, any1 facing this problem !?

Running .448 is working ok the copy and paste shift- select, etc...

Battery life shocking wont last a full shift at work, downgraded back to 337

On .448 battery life improved for me. Better than .337 I recommend few battery pulls after upgrade for all stuff to settle. My Torch is in the best shape it ever been with .448 so I stay there for the momment.

Agreed. I went 2 days on .337 and now I have to be careful so I can last 1 day. Going to give .448 a try

Is this file compatible if I am using the desktop manager on my mac?

I want to cancel †ђξ download limit of my bb 2 with an os 6.0 what do I do and also which site can I get bb app

In app world, the newest version is bbm And app world's version takes up 3 mb, while the new one is 3.2 mb

have you noticed that since the update, the screen's corners are round...

anyone get this with the battery pull? Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException
everything works fine once i click OK two times......just wierd. Any comments that are positive would be great....thanks.

I'm getting the same java.lang.NullPointerException and works fine after two clicks. However, Google Talk does not load and issues the same java.lang.NullPointerException error. I deleted GT and loaded it again from BBW but the error still exists.

This OS is awesome. This is the best and most stable platform I have been on. Absolutely no issues what so ever. Everything including my third party apps all working better than they did on .337. If your thinking about it, hit it. I upgraded from .337.

When sending broadcast in bbm i can not select the users when using the touch screen. I have to do this with the trackpad....in version .450.

Everything seems to work great except for the browser. When it renders pages it cuts parts out. Everything still remains clickable I just don't know what I'm clicking. Weird...going back to .448

Sync with Outlook contacts stops after about 122/145 contacts. Error shows up. Anyone else having the same problem

@LatenightHero i have the cut page issue with the browser...

After upgrading to .450 I don't have the blackberry maps icon anymore. I downloaded and installed it again and it asked for a reboot to complete the install which I did, but I still cannot find the program. I even tried the Universal Search to find it but no luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

BEWARE of your data plan. App world will not work with WiFi on 3G. Something in the Blackberry is pullingi data wihle your device sleeps at night and average of 30 MB per day. I already received an email stating that I'm close to reaching my limit when my average is about 80 MB per month.

Battery life is worst now with upgrade on my Torch.

3G network turns off and on frequesntly.

I'm may downgrade unless there is another upgrade to correct.

I just upgraded to and although I feel that its much smoother, something is still bothering me A LOT. On all my old blackberry devices (except the torch) I was able to click on a phone number from a web page and it would give me the option to call or text that number. On the torch, I have to copy and paste the number every time I want to call or text a number that is on the web. Very frustrating. Any tips?

In Blackberry Messenger when you go to send a broadcast message the option of selecting the people with the touchscreen is no longer working.

Not sure if that because of the OS or the BBM update. Everything else seems fine.
