Leaked OS: for the BlackBerry Torch 9800

Torch OS

Torch users get another leak today. Courtesy of forums member orleff we have OS for the Torch 9800. Hopefully some good improvements come with it, so if you do install be sure to drop a comment with your findings. The download is a bit slow but we'll try to get some mirrors up soon. Be sure to use caution when installing a leaked os. Hit the forums for more discussion.

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS).  *

Leaked OS: for the BlackBerry Torch 9800

another leak already we just barely got .214 and that one is awsome. hope this one is as good or better and improved.

downloading now.

Why doesn't RIM get a development process and some QA control in place. Leaked release, leaked release, leaked release...like you said the other one just came out.

What a waste of frigging time. Might be different if there really was something interesting in these leaked releases but for the most part that is not the case. Furthermore the update process is not exactly fast...

This would be comical if it were not so embarassing...

What you're saying would make sense if these were official releases...but they are leaked releases - which means they are probably just another random build by RIM to test out bug fixes and/or new features that was leaked by some inside person. You don't have to install every leaked version that comes out - technically, unless you're ok with taking risks, you shouldn't even be installing leaks because they may or may not cause more or less problems. I'm sure some leaks are probably planned by RIM to see the feedback from the blackberry community - but I'm also pretty sure some leaks aren't meant to be used by the general public. Having leaks is something I love about RIM...it gives the everyday blackberry-power user a chance to see what might be before its finally released by a carrier as official. That's my opinion anyway...

time to get a Torch then lol j/k ya im waiting for os6 for my Bold 9700 as well ill prolly be using that phone for a while and let my Torch rest when the BOLD OS6 comes out. but thats gonna take a while, so for now im very happy with my Torch

Im getting tired of seeing all these leaks for the 9800 but yet to get a leak for the 9700.

Every time I see "os6" and "leak", my heart skips a beat, only to be disappointed once again.

It's great to post something useful. I would like to see comments that contributes to those OS leaks. Usually we do read the following: "I am downloading, I will install, I'll let you know how it is..." and nothing comes after.

Post a message after you have tested the OS leaks, not before. If you want to give a feedback of the OS leak, make it helpful: Doest it works, is it stable, what are the changes, is it faster...?

"225 is basically 214 with some much needed bug fixes. As you can see they are the same Platform Version." - Crucial_Xtreme

Gotta wait and see - mine should be up and running in about 10-15 minutes. There are no reports of anyone having installed and tested already in the thread about it in the BETA/OS forum.

Everything seems great so far - all my apps work - install went smooth - device is running fast.

I can confirm that the email closing when rotating a picture within it bug has been fixed.

SMS/Text bug not fixed. New text messages received in a long thread of messages still might open in the middle of the conversation - or at least not at the very bottom - requiring you to scroll down.

I was wondering the same thing. i had it installed on my phone and running both the 9780 and 9800 before they were ever posted or mentioned here. busy times at crackberry or getting lazy i wonder.

.214 was damn good. I'm downloading this right now. Update shortly. Maybe this will come with FLASH...jk jk jk...lol

I like the newest update. 214 it has a few new features I like. Want to find out what new in this one. Typing this from my bb torch

wow cmon guys im tired of wiping my phone... will they just come out with an official os update!! alright folks the .214 is official already so whats the findings on this one???? let us know whats new... i gotta wait until you guys reply before i wipe it out again #so tired of this shiish!! FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER LOL @TALLEYBAN23

I'm on a BES so I just install via USB on my local PC and the BES auto-activates my BB once the new OS is installed. The only thing I have to do is to re-login to some apps like FB, Twitter, sometimes Pandora and a few others.

No need to "lose" and re-activate all my data.

that it is almost ALWAYS UNNECESSARY to wipe your device prior
to loading an OS? You are simply creating an extra and completely pointless step to the process.

Actually... For some reason when I load the os without wiping my service books are all messed up!! Ex: I'm on tmobile so initially when I remove the daemon file to get the web and Mms to work then my service books for aim or wlm won't work or vice versa! I tried merging the service books with magicc berry and the only way aLl of what I try to do works is when I wipe. Am I missing something? Also I tried to restore my auto text entries from a bacup file and it says it was loaded but it never really does? Any help there?

exactly, what i did...downloading this leak and waiting for UPS to deliver my Torch.
Torch/UPS: Out for delivery.

Where is the 6.0 OS for our beloved Bold 9700 ????? All these leaks for devices that haven't been out in the market yet. Same thing happened with the Torch. There was a leak before it even came out. Where is the 9700's version?? Where's the petition we need to sign??? lol ughhhh!!!

why would you be asking for a 9700 leak on a thread for 9800? when the 9700 leak comes in nov/dec I'm sure it will be plastered all over the front page of crackberry

I feel you 9700 users pain. When I had my 9000 bold all the OS 5 updates were for the 9700 and RIM pretty much forgot about the 9000. If RIM relaeses another bb that makes the 9800 obsolete within a year like they did to me with the 9000 I'm going iPhone. That's busch league microsoft business practice if you ask me.

Thus far this build seems pretty solid.

I've put on 214 last week when it came out and the speed was much better. My boss is still on .141 and it's so slow and clunky compared to this latest platform.

So the thus far compared to 214 the only thing that I've noticed different is that I can't replicate an issue with the keyboard. On 214 I had an issue that I thought at first was with the display language (similar to an issue I'd seen on the storm1) but it turns out was more to do with the soft keyboard layout not matching the hardware keyboard. So when you typed in a text field of any kind with the soft keyboard and then switched to the hard keyboard, the question mark, exclamation, comma and $ would be shifted over by one, but it matched that of the soft keyboard assignment. This most often happened in emails even when the soft keyboard would just come up because the slider was closed, you hit reply and then opened up the physical keyboard.

Thus far I haven't been able to reproduce that problem which I could often on .214. So that was my only complaint. But of course I will have to run it for a few days to see how it goes.

I love that the RSS feeds carry over every with my bes settings when I do a device update. I was a longtime viigo user and that was my biggest concern (re-entering all my rss feeds ever time I updated the os) which thus far hasn't been a problem.

So far seems good.. probley gonna use this as the base for my new hybrid instead of .214

No issues at all so far..fast and stable

anyone having problems when syncing with google sync? When calendar events are added it automatically sets the calendar events to "group'' I have several emails on. Any help?

Hopefully it fixes the browser and messages issues I have been having. Also, I hope seesmic works with this version.

So no new real changes in this release ? The current one is pretty good.. Can someone post battery life change if any..

do any of these updates fix the unlock/slide 10-second-device-freeze? This is my biggest headache in using this phone. Every time I unlock it or slide it open, i have to wait almost 10 seconds until i can use it.

Has anyone been having their home screen icon's changing positions after you move them? I've noticed that the enhanced gmail app seems to be the main culprit although there has been other icons that have done the same as well.

I've also played around with my font settings. After toggling through some fonts, it seems like all the text on the phone has been very pixelated (as if "font smoothing" has disappeared)

I'm pretty happy with .214 for now. Do hate the little browser bugs and signal decrease a bit but the battery is great. I can go 2 days between charges. I d/l this one but waiting on more reviews before we play the cat and mouse of updates

Downloaded and installed since yesterday 9.14.10 and it's very good. Came from the out of box OS, a lot more snappy on going through menus but did get the sms bug from the leaked. No big deal for the benefits of the leakes OS it's worth it.

none of the links worked .... i tried em all and they say the files not available or has been removed ....
i guess ill keep looking !!

After I updated my torch about 95% of my bbm contacts have no profile pic. I did 2 batt pulls and still no change. Has anyone else had this problem?

I am new at this site and an new owner of the new torch. I comes with the 141 but i want to upgrade to the 225, I have already installed it on the computer plus i have the desktop manager, but can't seem to get the software loaded into the phone. can anyone please help me with a step by step, PLEASE HEELLLPPP!!

Thank You in advance!

I updated because of the lag issue it's seem to have cleared up thanks to the update. Doodlejump was eating a lot of resources prior to the update now it's working well. Will update you with any issues if they occur.

Flasanta once the updated is unpackaged onto your computer desktop manager should recoginize it when you go to the update your blackberry section.

Non of the links provided now are working!!! It says link doesn't exist anymore...
Can anyone post a link where I can get the latest software!? The freezing of the screen now is sooo annoying
