Leaked: OS 6.0.0.141 for the BlackBerry Torch 9800

Bla1ze on 5 Aug 2010 06:50 pm
Yes, we know the device has yet to be released to the masses. And yes, previous OS' have been floating around but, since launch is now ever so close we figured we'd start logging these OS' now since we're still uncertain of what the BlackBerry Torch will be loaded up with. Since most these OS' have been carrier tested it's likely that this one will be the release version but, we dunno for certain. Grab it and hang onto it if you plan on picking up a BlackBerry Torch. Who knows, you may just need it. Disclaimer is in place for maximum coverage of our assets.
*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). Follow the links below for more information and instructions. *

Oh the pain!!!! Haha. Funny thing is that I'm very patient but I really want that OS 6. Played with the Torch today and fell in love with the OS.

Bla1ze Aug 5, 2010 at 7:14 pm
What device exactly do you think all the reviews were done on? Lol. Lots of people have it now that it's been announced just, most are bloggers and tech journalists. Also, as noted we know it's not available for MOST people...but, with launch close people will be buying it and maybe this OS will be higher then the released OS. Not certain thus, why it's posted.
Hope that unconfuzzels you. :)
RedneckBB Aug 5, 2010 at 7:12 pm
Alright who's gonna test it on there 9700?
Deathcommand Aug 5, 2010 at 7:14 pm

crush29830 Aug 5, 2010 at 7:52 pm
Seriously what will happen if I put this on my storm 2
Peppy690 Aug 5, 2010 at 7:57 pm
I second this question...there has to be a way to hack os6 to get working on the storm2...hopefully something will come out sooner than later
infinus Aug 6, 2010 at 4:26 am
I bet you won’t be able to load in Storm 2.
infinus Aug 6, 2010 at 4:26 am
I bet you won’t be able to load in Storm 2.
runandhide05#cb Aug 8, 2010 at 4:49 pm
Ok, so seeing as to hiw nobdy has posted that they tried it I will. And here's how I did and if anyone can help or if I did something wrong bbm me and give me your suggestions.
Ok first dl the os, and exctrated it, opened the loader, just ad if you were going to reinstall an os. Connected BB via usb, selected device, and loader does not see the os6 as even an option to install. That's it. Can't do anything from there, as a trouble shooting step I dl the most current os for storm2 extracted and ran loader, same steps...connected BB, followed steps, this time the loader did see the os5. And I from there could load os5 again. Continuing to refuse to addmit defeat I typed deleting the core os5 and inserting the os6 on the loader, still didn't work.
What we need is the os that vzw tested on their 9550's to be leaked.

How about the 9700 :)
ka3yan#CB Aug 5, 2010 at 8:52 pm
Does anyone else not care about a leak for a device that virtually no one except the press? We want to see a leak for a device like the 9650 or 9700.
infinus Aug 6, 2010 at 4:30 am
I think they will release OS6 for Pearl 3G first.
They will promote it with OS6, so they can sell it.
I think it will take some time for 9700 or 9650 to get OS6.
I am really very suspicious about 9700, if OS6 will release after November operators will never make it official.
phinx404 Aug 5, 2010 at 8:59 pm
id very much like to see a leak for my 9780!!! few bugs that id like to have gone!
Connor83 Aug 5, 2010 at 11:50 pm
I would just like a 9780 I would care less if I got a leaked os. I can't waot til they broing out that phone
lccurtis1 Aug 5, 2010 at 8:59 pm
I wonder will the 9800 OS 6 work on the 9700? I just may try it to see what happens. Has anyone tried this experiment, and if so what was the outcome?
masareti_786 Aug 5, 2010 at 9:24 pm
downloading it now. lets see how its any different from old build on my 9800
Average Joe Aug 5, 2010 at 9:30 pm
Lol...the OS won't fit on a Bold...at least not the Torch version...in the OS article, the OS was using 277 mb on the Torch....the versions for non-touchscreen devices should be considerably smaller since it won't have the touchscreen elements to it...
fire125k#cb Aug 5, 2010 at 9:32 pm
Hope the Torch burns in hell!!!!
NoKittyNo Aug 5, 2010 at 11:17 pm
I just sold my Storm2 about 2 hours ago, so this is good news. Lol.
I am still undecided on which device to get. I sold my contract through Rogers as well, so I am free as a bird, I can go to whatever carrier I want, and get whatever phone I want. However; not a fan of Telus so probably Rogers again, LOL.
I played with the XperiaX10 and it is a beautiful phone, but holy jeebez, Call quality was horrible and very muted, with volume maxed.
The Acer Liquid E is nice, but seeing what the US gets makes me feel jipped.
I am considering the IPhone 4, as its super beautiful and responsive, but I like BB's overall OS look(Shoot me? I know people will.. Outdated, yadda yadda) and the LED blinking, SOLID. Simply. SOlid.
Sooooo when it comes down to it I have a few in mind..
9800(EXCITED HERE<< KNOWS ITS LOWER SPECS BUT....
iPhone 4
Samsung Captive(IF ROGERS GETS IT, IM DOWN
Xperia X10(with Android 2.1 update, possible hearing fix?
Overall I think my heads exploding on the consideration. Remember the days when a Simple Motorola Flip satisfied that hunger for T9 texting.. I don't,
Smart phones = inSANE consumers.
Help...
Lmao, jk..
PS> Not a troll, have owned like countless BBs and love Crackberry,
'Nuff said. :)
NoKittyNo Aug 5, 2010 at 11:22 pm
Speak of the devil, on Android Canada, they just announced the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate was announced from Rogers(no set date yet though).
This makes my head hurt.. Hummm, WELL, I can one line for the Torch and the new unused non existent for the Captive(which might I add has the exterior design of the Storm2)
So its a win-win. :D
Aprilandavette Aug 5, 2010 at 11:18 pm
Are there any crackberry addicts on here who can hack this thing and make it work for storm 2? I would actually be willing to pay for it! Seriously, im pretty frustrated how Rim strings us along only to tell us in the end that storm2 does not get 6. Prettymuch sux. Im ready to bail for android.
cribble2k Aug 6, 2010 at 2:26 am
No one cares.
Just junp on the droid bandwagon. No one will care, stop trying to sound like you're important.
infinus Aug 6, 2010 at 4:44 am
BBOS is divided in two major parts….
One, kernel the one you don’t see (low level code that handles electronics like radio, wifi, memory, file system, etc, and)
Second, the one you see apps/games (phonebook, email setup app, browser, bbm, password keeper, etc).
You cannot tear down ~/ UMTS/*.sfi file. It’s never been peeped, if it does no one understood it. (no evidence on internet about it)
BB OS is very secretly kept and propertied.
So it really won’t be possible to play until some Ex-RIM or current RIM employee (OS dept.) is willing to make favors.
OR
Need to get some data/help on how BBOS behaves internally.
Aprilandavette Aug 5, 2010 at 11:20 pm
Think about it, what would stand in the way, other than size, of os6 working on storm 2? I would think that all of the hardware is there to make it work. It may render the clickable screen useless but who cares? Im thinking that there must be a way to make this work.
SlimGuy78 Aug 6, 2010 at 12:39 am
can't wait until we see a 9700 leak !!!!
belfastdispatcher Aug 6, 2010 at 2:27 am
Leak for the 9700? Did you guys miss the V5.0.0.862? It's the best OS for it so far.
MILLYBLICK Aug 6, 2010 at 12:22 pm
word. i haven't been saying much because i am fine with OS 5.0.0.862 until they roll out OS 6.0
niklz Aug 6, 2010 at 3:22 am
does anyone know if the curve 8900 will be getting blackberry 6?????
orange uk
infinus Aug 6, 2010 at 4:47 am
Hope floats,
I had 8900 once and I thought OS5 will never ported on 8900.
But I found the leak very next week.
Gallia Aug 6, 2010 at 6:13 am
I wouldn't hold my breath.
mister_right Aug 6, 2010 at 9:26 am
It this a serious question? There are no UK details but no Curve will be getting this.
niklz Aug 6, 2010 at 7:37 am
I HAVE GOT A SPARE CURVE 8900 AND I AM GOING TO INSTALL THIS LEAK ON IT JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY! WATCH THIS SPACE YOU 8900 LOVERS! P.S DID YOU SEE WHAT IT DID TO THE STORM 2?
coreyk86 Aug 6, 2010 at 5:25 pm
Honestly if u get this to work without blowing up the phone please pm me. It might give me reason to pick up my 8900 again.
syquest1 Aug 6, 2010 at 9:07 am
I was hoping to log in this morning and see a leak for the 9650 but maybe that candy coated goodness will happen later today or over the weekend.
bb2010outlook Aug 6, 2010 at 11:58 am
Does this forum anitcipate the new OS6 solving this rediculous sync issue that i am having with windoes 7-outlook 2010? And, does anyone have a suggestion until OS6?
MILLYBLICK Aug 6, 2010 at 1:18 pm
who's gonna be the first one to install this on their Bold 9700??... its tempting me, but i'm not gonna toast my phone because of me being impatient.
phabriss#cb Aug 6, 2010 at 4:07 pm
That's what we need!
coreyk86 Aug 6, 2010 at 5:19 pm
Only with BlackBerry have I ever seen a device software leak before the device even hits stores lol
T-Fleezee Aug 6, 2010 at 6:10 pm
What are yall waiting for?! Do it go ahead! See what it'll do! Lol!
crush29830 Aug 6, 2010 at 7:18 pm
If someone gives me the OS Ill try and load it on my storm 2 and give the results. Im assuming the worse Ill have to do is reset and restore my phone.
niklz Aug 7, 2010 at 6:21 am

MILLYBLICK Aug 7, 2010 at 7:30 am
man i test this out on my 9700 and nothing happened... i don't think it even read it.. but then i wiped my phone and install OS 5.0.0.862 back just to be safe. Of course i backed everything up... pause
crush29830 Aug 7, 2010 at 9:03 am
what do you mean nothing happened? Well isnt OS 6 meant for the 9700? do you have the link for OS 6 so I can try it out on my storm 2
MILLYBLICK Aug 7, 2010 at 10:15 am
nothing happened... it was still 5.0.0.862 but it seem as if it was downgraded and was running slow... so i wiped it and re-installed everything.
If i was y'all i would wait or get the new devices coming out with OS 6.0.
crush29830 Aug 7, 2010 at 12:19 pm
Wow, thanks for that info. I think I will wait anyway and avoid getting caught up in the hype. Good looking out
HipPo13 Aug 7, 2010 at 10:47 am
isn't there a way to extract the bbm's version in this leak or the webkit browser to use on a 9700????? Bla1ze?? Anyone??? i'm pretty sure the leak itself won't run on the 9700 but perhaps parts of it just might..no??
runandhide05#cb Aug 8, 2010 at 4:55 pm
