Oh the pain!!!! Haha. Funny thing is that I'm very patient but I really want that OS 6. Played with the Torch today and fell in love with the OS.

Yeah, that and/or a 9700 leak! Man i am so excited to check it out! It can't be too far from now. I won't wait for official carrier release, i will throw a leaked OS right on my 9700 as soon as it goes up online!

What device exactly do you think all the reviews were done on? Lol. Lots of people have it now that it's been announced just, most are bloggers and tech journalists. Also, as noted we know it's not available for MOST people...but, with launch close people will be buying it and maybe this OS will be higher then the released OS. Not certain thus, why it's posted.

Hope that unconfuzzels you. :)

I second this question...there has to be a way to hack os6 to get working on the storm2...hopefully something will come out sooner than later

Posted by infinus Friday, Aug 06, 2010 556 days ago

I bet you won’t be able to load in Storm 2.

Ok, so seeing as to hiw nobdy has posted that they tried it I will. And here's how I did and if anyone can help or if I did something wrong bbm me and give me your suggestions.
Ok first dl the os, and exctrated it, opened the loader, just ad if you were going to reinstall an os. Connected BB via usb, selected device, and loader does not see the os6 as even an option to install. That's it. Can't do anything from there, as a trouble shooting step I dl the most current os for storm2 extracted and ran loader, same steps...connected BB, followed steps, this time the loader did see the os5. And I from there could load os5 again. Continuing to refuse to addmit defeat I typed deleting the core os5 and inserting the os6 on the loader, still didn't work.
What we need is the os that vzw tested on their 9550's to be leaked.

How about the 9700 :)

Posted by ka3yan Thursday, Aug 05, 2010 556 days ago

Does anyone else not care about a leak for a device that virtually no one except the press? We want to see a leak for a device like the 9650 or 9700.

Posted by infinus Friday, Aug 06, 2010 556 days ago

I think they will release OS6 for Pearl 3G first.
They will promote it with OS6, so they can sell it.

I think it will take some time for 9700 or 9650 to get OS6.
I am really very suspicious about 9700, if OS6 will release after November operators will never make it official.

Posted by lccurtis1 Thursday, Aug 05, 2010 556 days ago

I wonder will the 9800 OS 6 work on the 9700? I just may try it to see what happens. Has anyone tried this experiment, and if so what was the outcome?

Posted by masareti_786 Thursday, Aug 05, 2010 556 days ago

downloading it now. lets see how its any different from old build on my 9800

Posted by Average Joe Thursday, Aug 05, 2010 556 days ago

Lol...the OS won't fit on a Bold...at least not the Torch version...in the OS article, the OS was using 277 mb on the Torch....the versions for non-touchscreen devices should be considerably smaller since it won't have the touchscreen elements to it...

Posted by fire125k Thursday, Aug 05, 2010 556 days ago

Hope the Torch burns in hell!!!!

I just sold my Storm2 about 2 hours ago, so this is good news. Lol.

I am still undecided on which device to get. I sold my contract through Rogers as well, so I am free as a bird, I can go to whatever carrier I want, and get whatever phone I want. However; not a fan of Telus so probably Rogers again, LOL.

I played with the XperiaX10 and it is a beautiful phone, but holy jeebez, Call quality was horrible and very muted, with volume maxed.

The Acer Liquid E is nice, but seeing what the US gets makes me feel jipped.

I am considering the IPhone 4, as its super beautiful and responsive, but I like BB's overall OS look(Shoot me? I know people will.. Outdated, yadda yadda) and the LED blinking, SOLID. Simply. SOlid.

Sooooo when it comes down to it I have a few in mind..

9800(EXCITED HERE<< KNOWS ITS LOWER SPECS BUT....
iPhone 4
Samsung Captive(IF ROGERS GETS IT, IM DOWN
Xperia X10(with Android 2.1 update, possible hearing fix?

Overall I think my heads exploding on the consideration. Remember the days when a Simple Motorola Flip satisfied that hunger for T9 texting.. I don't,

Smart phones = inSANE consumers.

Help...
Lmao, jk..

PS> Not a troll, have owned like countless BBs and love Crackberry,

'Nuff said. :)

Posted by NoKittyNo Thursday, Aug 05, 2010 556 days ago

Speak of the devil, on Android Canada, they just announced the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate was announced from Rogers(no set date yet though).

This makes my head hurt.. Hummm, WELL, I can one line for the Torch and the new unused non existent for the Captive(which might I add has the exterior design of the Storm2)

So its a win-win. :D

Are there any crackberry addicts on here who can hack this thing and make it work for storm 2? I would actually be willing to pay for it! Seriously, im pretty frustrated how Rim strings us along only to tell us in the end that storm2 does not get 6. Prettymuch sux. Im ready to bail for android.

Posted by cribble2k Friday, Aug 06, 2010 556 days ago

No one cares.
Just junp on the droid bandwagon. No one will care, stop trying to sound like you're important.

Posted by infinus Friday, Aug 06, 2010 556 days ago

BBOS is divided in two major parts….
One, kernel the one you don’t see (low level code that handles electronics like radio, wifi, memory, file system, etc, and)
Second, the one you see apps/games (phonebook, email setup app, browser, bbm, password keeper, etc).

You cannot tear down ~/ UMTS/*.sfi file. It’s never been peeped, if it does no one understood it. (no evidence on internet about it)
BB OS is very secretly kept and propertied.
So it really won’t be possible to play until some Ex-RIM or current RIM employee (OS dept.) is willing to make favors.

OR

Need to get some data/help on how BBOS behaves internally.

Think about it, what would stand in the way, other than size, of os6 working on storm 2? I would think that all of the hardware is there to make it work. It may render the clickable screen useless but who cares? Im thinking that there must be a way to make this work.
