Leaked OS 5.0.0.1079 for BlackBerry Bold 9000
There are honestly quite a few times each week that I pull out my BlackBerry Bold 9000 and wish there was an OS 6 I could load up. I still love that device and would keep rocking it if the OS was up to date. While this is pretty much a pipe dream, there are many users that are still faithful to the 9000. For them we have leaked OS 5.0.0.1079 for the Bold 9000 today. No reports in on this one yet, so if you install be sure to drop a comment letting us know how it goes.
*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

We got an update?
Wow, does this mean the 9900/9930 is going to be released early or am I not dreaming hard enough?

WOW an OS 5 update for a device. Good job RIM, you and progress can never be in the same sentence!
Matt J Jul 8, 2011 at 1:49 pm
Downloading now. Good for RIM. At least they keep supporting their older phones.

Doesn't seem like many people are happy to see this. And whats up with all the people breaking their phones and then posting in the 9000 forum? WTF
I guess OS updates seem less important with the 9900/Storm coming out.

Guys, that is not a leak. This is an official release that is available from T-Mobile Germany at their official BlackBerry support website: http://updateservice.t-mobile.net/blackberry/login.do?servcoid=TMD. You need to go the free download area to get the firmware.

Desktop Manager pulled it off the web and wanted to install it. I used Shrink-A-OS and reduced it to approx 46mb. Here is the good part. IT LOADS WEB PAGES SUPER FAST,,...!!!

@olblueyes. You were able to shrink the Os 5.0.0.1079 for the 9000 to 46mb? Can u pliz send the file to me through email? My bold is saying error 507 and needs a new Os. Is it possible for you to send it to my email, tatendamut@gmail.com. Thanks

Performance is snappier, web pages load like WebKit, memory leak is gone, and it shoots out $100 bills from the microSD slot! No difference that I can see....LOL!

so does it work? anyone?
jonn doe#cb Jul 11, 2011 at 6:29 pm
@pallox:Yes, it does. I have been testing it over the weekend, the only thing I found different with this leak is that the battery drains very quick compared to 5.0.0.1036 =[
