Leaked OS: 5.0.0.973 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530
By

The last leak that came out for the BlackBerry Storm 9530 was OS 5.0.0.871. Now we have OS 5.0.0.973 available for download. That's a rather large jump in OS versions so hopefully, it's bringing a lot of nice changes for 9530 owners. Remember, back up your data folks and let us know in the forums how it works for you all.
*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). Whooo the Fawk cares!
blakeberry Nov 14, 2010 at 1:53 am
You need a few days with Red Foreman or a life. Try bringing something to the table next time.

I couldn't wait to get the 9530 when it first came out I got it I was happy and pissed off at the same time too slow but I loved the click screen and when the 9550 was released never will I go back to that beta version of the storm2
lkveggie Nov 13, 2010 at 9:02 pm
I just upgraded to the Storm 2 9550 today because my 9530 was so slow! Thankfully it was free since it was still under warranty, but this is extremely ironic that it comes out the day I get a new phone...
pipotobe Nov 13, 2010 at 9:03 pm
The Storm makes the front page of CB. It's been a while.
Thanks guys.

I was thinking the same thing. =)

Its odd that the installer for this has the BerryCN logo instead of the RIM logo like usual. Seems like the installer has been repackaged.
Dankees Nov 13, 2010 at 10:24 pm
How is this?
blakeberry Nov 14, 2010 at 1:57 am
Thanks for the update. We still have some 9530's in operation. I have some people that will welcome an up date. Appreciate the post.

Friday my Gmail suddenly stopped being deposited in it's own folder and only in the main message folder. After trying everything, today I decided to look for an update above OS 5.0.0.797 but the links were all dead for OS 5.0.0.871. I'm on CrackBerry all day and somehow missed its posting 10.20.2010.
After much hunting I found a live link that morning that worked well: http://zonablackberry.com.ve/forum/649198-post1.html.
Then CrackBerry released OS 5.0.0.973 that evening. The only issue I had was installing (the private labeled version?) with BETA BB DM 6.0.1.8 was it would begin and state "some modules would not" function? and stopped the install. But after several various attempts I simply used the Loader.exe and all is good.
Thanks CrackBerry and enjoy all!

Still rockin the storm 1. Idk why everyone complains about the storm 1. Mine still runs great besides having to do hard resets once a day but that's just a blackberry for you. Thanks for the update.

Finally, a more modern update so we don't have to rely on hybrids to be be somewhat current.
Dankees Nov 14, 2010 at 8:47 am
How does it run?
marsgrafx03@msn.com Nov 14, 2010 at 9:46 am

xenorph Nov 14, 2010 at 10:33 am
where is 5.0.0.900 for the 8900. Seriously T-Mo?
niqueo625 Nov 14, 2010 at 11:30 am
So far, my visual voice mail no longer works. It prompts me for my PIN number, but the keyboard never shows up so that I can enter it. I belive that has something to do with MY SIM card. A message shows up asking me to insert my SIM card. And as you've guessed, the SIM card is in there. ANy suggestions from anyone before I go back to an older OS?
king64 Nov 14, 2010 at 11:31 am
YOU HAVE A TYPO IN THE ARTICLE STATING A NEW OS 5.0.0.937, BUT SUPPOSE TO BE 5.0.0.973 AS WELL IN THE DOWNLOAD SECTION. CRACKBERRY 4 LIFE

This software is garbage and should be removed from front page.
blakeberry Nov 14, 2010 at 3:30 pm
This garbage just worked great on two 9530's I have. Cleaned up some bugs, increased battery life. Why do call it garbage? Curious. Have you tested it? Nothing better to do than make unfounded comments? Please enlighten.

Worst smartphone ever, period.
blakeberry Nov 14, 2010 at 3:31 pm
How is this helpful?
penabauza Nov 14, 2010 at 1:33 pm
im try to install and nothing soo, i think this is not for 9530...
fabulous3030 Nov 14, 2010 at 1:47 pm
Didn't like this new OS. It messes up opera mini and I can't live without opera mini. Plus it seems to be a little slow and don't see any differences between .328, went back to old verizon OS. I did notice that it did give me more memory though.
blakeberry Nov 14, 2010 at 3:34 pm
Installed on two 9530's and seems to work great. May have fixed the issue with the touchscreen. I have had incorrect letters come up when touching else where on the screen. I had thought it was a hardware issue since this phone is almost two years old. Haven't had the issue since the update. We'll see if it comes back.
keith2k1 Nov 14, 2010 at 3:54 pm
I thought the Storm would get 6.
Marsh511 Nov 14, 2010 at 4:53 pm
Hmm, sounds like enough possible problems to keep me on .699 for 10 more days (til contract END!), but definitely appreciate keeping us 9530 loyalists informed. Since .699, except for the low application memory, my Storm's been quite a reliable and usable device. Almost scared as I make the switch to Sprint/Evo 4g!
jcan1003 Nov 14, 2010 at 7:41 pm
3 days with no problems....
bryansoder Nov 14, 2010 at 7:51 pm
Thanks for the Storm love. It's been a while
bishop_kelly Nov 15, 2010 at 5:29 am
This is the 3rd OS leak for the 9530 from crackberry. Are they ever going to be fully released from RIM or where ever they come from? I'm not ungrateful, just cautious and curious.
Thanks crackberry team!
icey32 Nov 15, 2010 at 8:56 am
I'm new to this what do you do? Do you plug your phone into your computer and click on the link and that's it? Please help.
