Leaked OS: 5.0.0.938 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700
In what we can hope is the last of the 5.0 leaks for the Bold 9700 (because we want 6.0 .. duh) BBLeaks has dropped OS 5.0.0.938 today. Hopefully some supercharged fun in this version, but it's a bit early to tell. If you're a 9700 owner, give this one a spin and let us know how things are. Fingers crossed that we'll see a 6.0 leak for the 9700 (and others) soon, or maybe just a 9780 release.
*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

In the messages app, if you highlight a message (but not open it) and hit the menu button you can choose to save that message or file or email ot MMS to your device or SD card. It also gives you the option to save as..
Check it out, it is an interesting function. A real 'new feature' in an older OS. Kinda exciting for me.
london11434 Sep 19, 2010 at 4:39 pm
how do u install the os please help
preludeoflight Sep 20, 2010 at 2:07 pm
Some how I'm not seeing this. =\ (Neither in Emails, nor SMS/MMS)
Am I just missing it perhaps, or looking in the wrong place?
th3blinded Sep 16, 2010 at 11:56 am
I will probably give this a shot although, obviously I'm waiting for 6. I'm sure there will be a lot of angry folks though haha
yobeez#cb Sep 16, 2010 at 11:56 am
Waiting for 6.

Really? Come on
junelzkee Sep 16, 2010 at 12:10 pm
i heard this os has the webkit browser CODs in it. oh, and it also upgrades your camera from 3.2 to 5.
davidnyc Sep 16, 2010 at 12:25 pm
Someone on Twitter said it contains full Flash support too! ;-)
SniperFery Sep 17, 2010 at 12:17 am
if this is possible, than it could be what the "OS6 Lite" means that we heard on the air a while ago and RIM said there will be no OS6 Lite but hey, if this contains the webkit browser COD's its possibly the "OS6 Lite" for the non-supported OS6 Devices (like my 8520 for example :D)

Wake up TELUS!!!
Crackberrier09 Sep 16, 2010 at 12:31 pm
This update also adds 256MB to your current memory.
MACKSnare519 Sep 16, 2010 at 12:32 pm
This is sad. If I were on anything other than the Torch I would steamed, too.
MILLYBLICK Sep 16, 2010 at 12:36 pm
I'll wait to get more feedback on this upgrade before i downgrade to something i don't like. I say this because i currently have some 6.0 files and my device runs fast.
sirpedro83 Sep 16, 2010 at 12:37 pm
Im downloading now.... Im curious as to see whats different on it
gsjones Sep 16, 2010 at 12:37 pm
will try it out later today when I get off work (can't download here!).
trtmazda3 Sep 16, 2010 at 12:38 pm
I don't believe I'll be trying this one. Each of these various 5.0 releases for the 9700 have had such tiny differences that there might as well not be any. I'm waiting for a 6.0 release.
JeePak Sep 16, 2010 at 12:40 pm
I heard this update gives you touchscreen capabilities!!! :D
mansandem Sep 16, 2010 at 12:50 pm
@Crackberrier09 & JeePak....Oh, and don't forget this update also upgrades the processor of the 9700 from 624MHz to 630MHz, so there's really no need to upgrade to the 9780 after all.....;-)
AgTitan06 Sep 16, 2010 at 12:45 pm
I heard that this version doesn't actually require a battery. It uses the various microwaves traveling through the air to continuously provide full power to the Bold. It really cuts down on the weight of the device now. Love it.
bosco388 Sep 16, 2010 at 12:46 pm
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MILLYBLICK Sep 16, 2010 at 12:58 pm
lmao!!!! lol good one because i was wondering how many things i would hear about before actually reading details about what's actually in the upgrade.
Cornbo Sep 16, 2010 at 12:46 pm
I heard that it enables the 9700 to give lap dances!
gizmojoc Sep 16, 2010 at 12:56 pm
Best one so far....lol
aljimbo Sep 16, 2010 at 7:43 pm
Mine already does that out of the box. I just put it in my lap and hold Q down. ;)
TwistMyMind Sep 16, 2010 at 12:48 pm
anyone know what carrier this is originating from?
blazed12 Sep 16, 2010 at 12:48 pm
Some of you need to calm down and be thankful that someone release an OS for 9700.. The OS 6 will be out soon just be patient
JeePak Sep 16, 2010 at 12:53 pm
We are just poking a little fun and keeping a good attitude in the face of a tragedy :)
cheechorama Sep 16, 2010 at 1:40 pm
Well if RIM gave us a reason to NOT be sarcastic......
cloud23 Sep 16, 2010 at 12:53 pm
How do you install it once you have downloaded it to the computer. Also I have a MAC if that matters.
A93hunt Sep 16, 2010 at 1:01 pm
You cannot install this I you have a Mac unless you use a virtual machine to install windows. You can use either vmware or parallels desktop. Another option would be to actually install windows by using the bootcamp program that comes with macs..
Atomicpunk Sep 16, 2010 at 1:11 pm
I am testing this OS, and it looks like there is an option to use your camera flash as a high powered 1080P multimedia projector!!!!
ka3yan#CB Sep 16, 2010 at 1:14 pm
Are you effin kidding me? Who gives a crap about another 5.0 leak.
2008blackrabbit Sep 16, 2010 at 1:15 pm
This upgrade provides a link on the home screen to upgrade to OS6
A93hunt Sep 16, 2010 at 1:21 pm
Btw, when I first saw this article on the Crackberry homepage, I first sat 9700 in large letters. I thought is was OS6 at first and it got my hopes up but w/e..anyhow, just curious, won't RIM rrelease 5.1.xxx before os6?
bosco388 Sep 16, 2010 at 1:22 pm
me too. My heart stopped. Yes, i live a boring life. lol
JerzieBarbie Sep 16, 2010 at 1:35 pm
What about us 9650 folks? When do we get an OS 6 upgrade :-(
geek126 Sep 16, 2010 at 1:40 pm
Yes you and the other ten people that have a 9650 are very eager for an update. Please let's not diminish focus from the 9700 with your witless banter. At this point I would be happy for any os 5 to get an os 6 upgrade just to show that they haven't forgotten us.
geek126 Sep 16, 2010 at 1:42 pm
Meant to throw a lol or j/k in there sorry
basiljarmakani Sep 16, 2010 at 1:42 pm
Try dipping your phone in water after updating! Its waterproof now!!!!!!!!!
lvcorkdork Sep 16, 2010 at 1:47 pm
Did get approx. 25 more Mb memory with upgrade. Still playing with it though.
SueyChoy Sep 16, 2010 at 1:47 pm
Haha screw this leak just give us 6.0.
What a tease
MILLYBLICK Sep 16, 2010 at 1:49 pm
Sad thing is... I'm not believing none of this facts if they are. Somebody tell us what they find.
BluCheze Sep 16, 2010 at 1:50 pm
i just installed this and there is a option to have Retina Display on and off. according to the help box, it provides better quality than the Iphone 4.
The browser also comes with flashed enabled by default.
Also, double RAm to 512 with a dedicated 120mb graphics card.
thank you RIM!
runxZ Sep 16, 2010 at 1:50 pm
I must say the comments where very entertaining. This one took the cake....
"I heard that this version doesn't actually require a battery. It uses the various microwaves traveling through the air to continuously provide full power to the Bold. It really cuts down on the weight of the device now. Love it"
mcaples Sep 16, 2010 at 1:50 pm
Didn't the report on the Sprint Curve 3G mention OS6 in '11? Sent from my 8530 that only DREAMS of another 5.0...MAYBE even a 5.1.xxx...but that's dreaming too...hahahaha
JeePak Sep 16, 2010 at 1:52 pm
This update also comes with an android emulator!! Just go to [options>software>emulator>type "android" (you won't see anything being typed on the screen)>blank screen will appear, press"alt + left shift" type "androidemulator">your device will now reboot (it will take approximately 47minutes)>once it finishes rebooting, android will be running in the background with no effect on performance..or appearance]
jwicks82 Sep 16, 2010 at 5:59 pm
HAHAHA, wasn't going to bother logging in but when I saw this comment I busted out laughing. Nice words dude. It made this ridiculous and useless upgrade just a little bit funnier. Thanks!
funcky74 Sep 16, 2010 at 2:02 pm
hi,
i tried the wireless update via my bold 9700, but no update available...the same thing as i tried downloading with desktop manager...so no update for luxembourg?
regards,
jp
dftx08 Sep 16, 2010 at 2:07 pm
The upgrade has a menu that puts some sense into TMobile and they destroy the idea of clamshell and there supporting the torch
jwicks82 Sep 16, 2010 at 6:01 pm
+1
alestair Sep 16, 2010 at 2:10 pm
This OS is so fast... I think its a scale down version of OS6 with OS5 icons
wickedny5 Sep 16, 2010 at 2:11 pm
Woohoo!!! This OS just turned my 9700 into a Torch!
hieniken Sep 16, 2010 at 2:12 pm
For some odd reason whenever I finished downloading the update. I restarted my blackberry and suddenly I was back in time.....this leak update turns my BB into some sort of time traveling blackberry!!!..
MILLYBLICK Sep 16, 2010 at 2:15 pm
Lemme give it a shot people bs'n too much... lol... just give us the details man... ahaha
goldie52 Sep 16, 2010 at 2:21 pm
Everything seems normal with the exception of BBM. Theres no more time stamps...
2008blackrabbit Sep 16, 2010 at 2:23 pm
Even if by some remote chance there was a great addition to this build no one will believe it now lol
sphinks Sep 16, 2010 at 2:24 pm
Hopefully helpful facts about the update come into flourishing.
MatteoTard Sep 16, 2010 at 2:27 pm
So I downloaded the update, deleted VENDOR file and pluged in my BB and then it says their's and error and cannot be updated...i restarted my computer and even my phone...and still the same problem :( anyone know why?!?!
MatteoTard Sep 16, 2010 at 2:34 pm
so apparently you shouldn't delete the vendor file becuz it needs it lmao...this is getting confusing lol
MILLYBLICK Sep 16, 2010 at 2:28 pm
thats exactly what i was saying... the only belief is to try it yourself. SMH
mansandem Sep 16, 2010 at 2:28 pm
AM I THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO INSTALLED THIS ON THEIR 9700, FORGETTING TO DELETE THE VENDOR FILE, BUT REALIZED THAT IT INSTALLED ANYWAY...MUST BE FROM T-MOBILE,(MY CARRIER)
BY THE WAY, I AM NOW ABLE TO SPEAK TO EXTRATERRESTRIALS WITH THIS NEW OPERATING SYSTEM...THE RECEPTION NOW IS LITERALLY OUT OF THIS WORLD.
kaerfree Sep 16, 2010 at 4:30 pm
WHY ARE YOU YELLING!?
Phill_UK Sep 16, 2010 at 9:37 pm
The vendor file is always empty in a leaked OS, so there's no need to delete it. It certainly doesn't mean it's from your (or any) carrier.
NorthLondonGunner Sep 16, 2010 at 2:32 pm
This update turned my Curve 8520 into Optimus Prime
mansandem Sep 16, 2010 at 2:36 pm
@ NorthLondonGunner....Are you Samuel James Witwicky, descendant of Archibald Witwicky?(Optimus Prime voice)
jwicks82 Sep 16, 2010 at 6:09 pm
Curious, did you google that quote or are you a former ABC spelling bee champion? Also, no need to inform of us about Optimus Prime, we're a bunch of nerds who log into a site dedicated to BlackBerry, we've seen Transformers. Funny though
NorthLondonGunner Sep 16, 2010 at 7:19 pm
No :( I wish I was though, having Megan Fox as a girlfriend would be epic.
donnie54 Sep 16, 2010 at 2:40 pm
i don't see any changes. it says version 5.0.0.938.
does anyone has the same problem?
mansandem Sep 16, 2010 at 2:47 pm
You wanna know why it says that version Donnie? It says that version because...... THAT'S THE VERSION YOU INSTALLED, DONNIE!!!
Whew!!! I feel better now, sorry but I HAD to respond.
forsakenwaste5 Sep 16, 2010 at 2:44 pm
I've heard this one prints money.
pzykotic Sep 16, 2010 at 2:45 pm
Just updated - what I can tell you is weird about this, is ever since updating, my phone has that little "Busy/Downloading" icon up in the top-right side next to the 3G logo. No idea what the hell it's doing but it's been doing it for 15m now.
funcky74 Sep 16, 2010 at 2:53 pm
i want to know if all my settings, apps and theme will remain the same on my mobile as before the update?
regards,
jp
ack48 Sep 16, 2010 at 3:28 pm
Still waiting to finish synchronizing the desktop service, however I can tell you my theme was still set - just set to its default. I will have to rearrange my icons again.
Deleted vendor.xml before upgrade and seems to be working fine on AT&T.
** My personal email works fine - didnt have to rest account info or passwords, camera/video camera work fine, side button works with lock, pictures load fast and scroll fast. Havent noticed difference yet - browser seems the same.
ench18 Sep 16, 2010 at 3:01 pm
You guys are lucky for having an upgrade for your bold 9700. Us Bold 9000 fanatics are still stuck with our current OS .822. Don't we get any love???? Lol. :)
SniperFery Sep 17, 2010 at 12:26 am
well... the words in the air that Bold 9000 will only stuck @5.x.x.xxx and i think thats what possible with my 85xx also!! i hope RIM changed their mine about that :(
montage Sep 16, 2010 at 3:16 pm
I heard this one upgraded you to android....
MILLYBLICK Sep 16, 2010 at 4:31 pm
I've noticed the reboot is fast. My phone rebooting in about 1min. Moving through the menu and other apps are smoother than the previous .862 version. I really haven't seen any big changes besides a faster service overall. The browser is pretty stable too, so far.
eahinrichsen Sep 16, 2010 at 3:57 pm
This update turned my BlackBerry into a magical unicorn that poops rainbows and candy. It's cool and all, but I can't figure out how to make phone calls anymore.
XWolf Sep 16, 2010 at 4:00 pm
Installed, is a little smoother. Seriously cannot believe how many small minded people are whinging. Would you rather we have NO updates until 6 is fully bug tested on 9700, get 6 early but buggy or still get regular updates for an os we know works?
Smoother
Gained about 5mb
kaerfree Sep 16, 2010 at 4:34 pm
Get 6 early but buggy, easily. It would make following updates to the OS relevant.
ka3yan#CB Sep 17, 2010 at 9:46 am
Yes, I could care less about 5.0 updates for the 9700 from here on out. My 9700 runs perfectly on 5.0.0.862. Give me 6.0 or give me nothing. I poo on the 5.0 leaks!
gymwarner Sep 16, 2010 at 4:01 pm
Installed a little while ago, no noticeable difference except some more space freed up in my app memory. Everything reloaded, including all my apps. Browser is same, maybe a tad faster but I'm on wifi so hard to tell. No change to ui I guess. Just the usual upgrade os stuff. We'll see about battery life over next few days.
brandito96 Sep 16, 2010 at 4:03 pm
okay well i just downloaded this new OS but i dont know how to install it, i have the new BlackBerry 6 Desktop Software/Manager, what do i do to install this OS on my 9700?
gymwarner Sep 16, 2010 at 4:10 pm
It should start automatically. It might ask you to close bb desktop manager first though. Then will install. Then open bb dtm and say an update is available.
nolhayes Sep 16, 2010 at 4:05 pm
I'd like to know 2 things, how's the battery life and does it freeze up like 5.0.0.714 from t-mobile
adotboogie Sep 16, 2010 at 4:32 pm
Much faster, just don't like my text messages showing up on my front screen when I go to the icon, can anybody help?
juny112 Sep 16, 2010 at 5:02 pm
LOUD NOISES!!!!
RubberBroke Sep 16, 2010 at 5:28 pm
It fixed my Broken Rubber ! Now I feel whole again :-/
dr_dave#cb Sep 16, 2010 at 5:41 pm
I inadvertently loaded this onto my curve while doing maintenance, it was listed as an upgrade and didn't specify model(s). Huge mistake it burned up 25MB of memory and destroyed my themes, ringtones, profiles, etc. I need help reloading the original OS, link?
nolhayes Sep 17, 2010 at 3:39 am
go to your carrier and get the official OS download to restore your BB
copysat Sep 16, 2010 at 5:51 pm
Coooooool ,I heard that this version changing your 9700 keypad in to sliding keypad.
jayjibs Sep 16, 2010 at 6:19 pm
What's the big difference in this update?
HNYK Sep 16, 2010 at 6:19 pm
I'll take this funny feedback any day over 400 "downloading now" posts and 350 "don't post 'downloading now' posts"
ROMPNSTOMP Sep 16, 2010 at 6:34 pm
Installed the new OS and have used it for a few hours. At this point I don't notice any differences aside from freeing up about 9 megs of app space. Maybe I will stumble across something in the next few days...on a positive everything works fine. Please bring me OS 6....if it doesn't come soon my obsessive compulsive behavior will drive me to the 9780!
Monicooo Sep 16, 2010 at 7:59 pm
that is just what they want you to do. Get impatient 9700 and make them wait untill after the 9780 is released to get os6 so that ppl will buy more.
Dexberry89 Sep 16, 2010 at 6:42 pm
the few differences i notice right alway are
3g network working faster then ever in everyway! from text to web browsing amazing!
the qualitys of the videos on youtube are way different they look a bit better amazing!
i notices few stuff here in there on my letters not phone expert but if i come across anything new on this update i let ya know!
Davidmejiam Sep 16, 2010 at 7:16 pm
I already downloaded and installed the 5.0.0.938 in my PC, but when the BB Desktop Manager opens nothing happens, and before with the other versions leaked or official it started to install the OS on my 9700 automatically, any suggestions.
SteelHelmet Sep 16, 2010 at 7:19 pm
I heard this OS version also adds 4G capabilities to Bold 9700, as well as kinetic scrolling, just like in OS 6.0! And also heard OS 6.0 for Bold 9700 will turn it into a teleportation device, so now users can be EVERYWHERE! That's why I'll wait for OS 6.0 to leak instead.
sdtbmx Sep 16, 2010 at 7:41 pm
just had a little meeting with a bb rep that had os 6 on his 9700. so dialed in. going to be worth the wait, got me checking here 3 times a day. also said should be available within in a month. tried to get a copy but apparently rim can track the source code on employee beta versions so he wasn't willing to risk his job.
Supermex13 Sep 16, 2010 at 7:59 pm
Installed this morning. gave back about 15mb of mem. smoother transitioning between apps. faster reboot time; about 3mins. fixed minor prob in BBM. all apps and settings loaded fine. apps run faster; ie - socialscope, ubertwitter, web, email, etc. steady 3G signal. battery life: used 10% since install (7hrs total). deleted vendor xml and running on AT&T. running better than .862.
Only problem, does not talk like Flo from Progressive insurance.
ThaChingster Sep 16, 2010 at 8:14 pm
I nuked my phone after this . LOL
biohaz Sep 16, 2010 at 8:25 pm
downloading right now will install and post back as soon as done.
bblover82 Sep 16, 2010 at 8:59 pm
Will install it this evening and take it for a spin. :)
ndezzz Sep 16, 2010 at 9:16 pm
waiting for official version...
biohaz Sep 16, 2010 at 9:19 pm
Well it scared me in the start cuz JVM error came up load OS, but it did install and rebooted alot faster than expected. I clocked the timing and it was about 3 minutes for me. saved about 15 MB of space for me. Also response time is alot faster for me. I do not have alot of software on my blackberry. But it is alot more responsive now. Up and running sorry to hear about the Nuked Blackberry, i hope you will be able to either revert back to old OS or get a replacement.
dnalevy Sep 16, 2010 at 9:26 pm
My 9700 was running beautifully on 5.0.0.862 so I updated to 5.0.0.938 for no apparent reason.
lvcorkdork Sep 16, 2010 at 9:43 pm
Smoother transitions. Battery life is a big question. For some reason it seems like it's not as good as my.7xx version for Tmo. Maybe I'm wrong, as it's only been a few hours. Can't tell if the browser is faster or not as I have a wi-fi hotspot at home.
rohitberi Sep 16, 2010 at 10:33 pm
recovered 6 more megs + more snappier navigation and application switching than .862
Lovesherbb1915 Sep 16, 2010 at 10:35 pm
Downloading it, though I'm STILL waiting for a 6.0 leak. Soon, I hope!
SlimGuy78 Sep 16, 2010 at 11:01 pm
Anybody else notice the massive memory gain ?!?
sagardavul Sep 17, 2010 at 12:27 am
Yes... I can see massive memory gain. I used to have 87MB free and now it is 98.7MB free. don't know why. All apps are still available. Also, the placement of notification icon seem to be changed from its regular place. so far it seems to be better than .862. Atleast for me.
valavank Sep 17, 2010 at 12:54 am
Works alright for me, response does seem slightly faster but that could just be me being dilerious
Still cant go on standby mode like the old update which sucks really badly
LayzieBone075 Sep 17, 2010 at 1:10 am
C'mon this is just a tease! LOL give us OS6 already! Hahaha!
Demonchildinc Sep 17, 2010 at 1:56 am
i think im gonna stick with .862. works fine for me. so i wont be upgrading till 6 comes out...
belfastdispatcher Sep 17, 2010 at 2:33 am
Ok. Maybe, just maybe this OS has something in it to make it possible to upgrade to OS6.
bblover82 Sep 17, 2010 at 2:40 am
I don't see any improvements, or any cons. Before doing the install of this os onto my bold 9700 and I haven't noticed any big changes. The Browser is still the same, Hasn't slowed or gotten any faster. The memory hasn't changed at all. I had 116.7 mb available application memory prior to upgrading, after the upgrade I had 116.9 mb. Tomorrow, I will be watching the battery life closely to see if there's any change with it.

Not sure if this is huge news. But this version somes with an updated versions of AppWorld. I was running 2.0.0.36 before the update now my device has 2.0.0.38.
Who knows what the differnces really are but its an upgrade right????

For any reason, after I upgraded, I can't dial numbers that aren't in the phonebook. When I press the green dial button, the device doesnt do anything. I have to slide the trackpad upwards until the green dial button shows next to the number I typed.
Anyone has this issue?
Rallen64 Sep 17, 2010 at 4:59 pm
So far I have not had any problems with the os. The interface seems faster and I am getting a better signal. The browser is a bit quicker in loading as well, both on the network as well as wifi.

Lots of funny comments on what the Blackberry can now do with this leaked O.S. For me I am waiting for the electric razer.
Tell me the top of the 9700 is not perfectly shaped for a good close shave! Ultimate business tool. Late for a meeting? No problem, text your boss, shave on the way. Maybe OS 7.
Installing a new OS is good cause it dredges out the crud and is "usually" more efficient in some way. I can confirm that I picked up about 15mb's in appp space. .862 also had random reboots. We shall see with this one. Does seem snappier.
Still toggles between Edge and 3G, just like all the releases. Maybe more of a network thing. AT&T... need I say more. All my third party apps loaded fine (and I have more than the average 14) saw that somewhere. Try 45+ and I still have 77Mb's left. That is better than before. So, yeah it ain't 6.0, however, I may not jump on that one right away when it first comes out. haaa, haaaah, haah, yeah right! :)

ChillFactorz Sep 18, 2010 at 2:34 am
I read that others had problems with dialing numbers from home screen while hitting the green call button. I encountered this today, I didn't think much of it until I read the comments. I have yet to duplicate it. it does seem a little snappier, and responsive, and this was the 1st time I had difficulties upgrading an OS I got an App Error blank white screen on the device, even after reboot. I redid the upgrade and success. Another thing I would like to mention a couples weeks back I upgraded to .862 which was my 1st upgrade with desktop software 6 and I had to re-add the Vendor file just to proceed with the upgrade and same this time with .938. Has anybody else had to re add the Vendor file to enable the upgrade? Is it a desktop Software 6 thing?
MILLYBLICK Sep 18, 2010 at 3:46 am
i think it is a desktop manager 6 thing
Snowblind2010 Sep 18, 2010 at 3:19 am
Works great for me. Still waiting for 6 tho!
BoldBerry9700 Sep 18, 2010 at 5:25 am
Installed. Didn't delete the vendor file cause you don't need to with this build. Got a java error. After a reboot, it seems to have fixed itself. Seems a little faster with smoother transitions. Haven't had it long enough to test battery life yet. Had issues with AppWorld. The whole login stuff. Created a new account with the same email and account info. Worked but then all my apps didn't update. ALT + RST fixed that. It's cool so far I'm diggin it. Defiantly smoother than 862.
BoldBerry9700 Sep 18, 2010 at 5:34 am
Forgot to add that I gained around 5meg of memory. No dialing issues as others have reported. Tried one issue reported when pushing the call button from the home page. It works fine for me. Will. Report any issues I find.

In the messages app, if you highlight a message (but not open it) and hit the menu button you can choose to save that message or file or email ot MMS to your device or SD card. It also gives you the option to save as..
Check it out, it is an interesting function. A real 'new feature' in an older OS. Kinda exciting for me.
sandradee1031 Sep 19, 2010 at 12:05 am
I've been trying to upgrade to this new OS the same way as I usually do but with this new desktop manager it isn't letting me for some reason. Does anyone have any suggestions??

IM GLAD THAT ITS WORKING FOR SOME PPL BUT I CANT FOR THE LIFE OF ME KEEP THIS OS STABLE ON MY 9700. MOST OF THE TIME I CAN'T PUSH THE GREEN SEND BUTTON TO DIAL A NUMBER AND THE 3G STABILITY IS HORRIBLE. MY PHONE FREEZES EVERY 5 MINUTES AND PEOPLE ARE RECEIVING MY TEXT MSGS 15 MINUTES LATE OR JUST NOT AT ALL SO I HAVE TO RE-SEND THEM. THANKS FOR THE LEAK BUT NO THANKS. IM GOING BACK TO .714 UNTIL OS 6 COMES OUT. I HOPE THIS WORKS BETTER FOR EVERYONE ELSE SO THAT YOU WONT HAVE TO TAKE THE TIME OUT OF YOUR DAY TO DOWNGRADE. -GENERAL-

5.0.0.938 has been on for a few days now and it's running smoothly. Battery life noticibly better and UMA running very strong, more than other previous versions.
crigga84 Sep 22, 2010 at 6:29 pm
When connecting to my home router, an Apple Airport, My Blackberry 9700 would show it was connected to router "Airport" on the home screen, but the wifi symbol wouldn't turn solid for up to 30 minutes.
With this update, it seems to be connecting more quickly, within 1 minute.
I am very happy!!

I had a problem getting my service books to send to my device when I was running this OS. I would get the service books for two of my seven email accounts and that would be it... I downgraded the OS back to 5.0.0.656 and all is good now...
I'll hold off on any more OS 5 Updates until OS 6 arrives :)

after using this OS for about 2 weeks or so I'm thinking of switching back. I see no difference and also its made my calendar worst because now instead of birthdays being bold they show as all day events. Either way it seems to be no change really except for the OS numbers in the about section of the options.
irnik Oct 3, 2010 at 7:38 am
hi guys,
all the links i've known are broken...
