As we mentioned previously, here is the latest leak for the BlackBerry Curve 8520. Enjoy folks, let us know in the comments if you find anything good in it. Back up your data.
*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

Wheres the 9700 leak? Everyone else is getting one... Hope this is a good leak for you guys, but you've got to wonder, how many more 5.0 leaks will we see since BB6 is due out next quarter?
tonio425 May 16, 2010 at 5:38 pm
really need to release the official OS5. I'm try this one I got nothing better to do.
jamesmayo May 16, 2010 at 5:45 pm
works fine, no problems noticed so far, smooth upgrade.
seems a bit speedier, noticed random lags with the black clock popping up on the old leak (.610 i think?)
oh and all the missing games are back, texas holdem, etc. don't really know what happened to them in the first place, from .591 I think, they were just missing.
overall, a worthy upgrade.

ilovemusic7 May 16, 2010 at 5:48 pm

No.
decypher44 May 16, 2010 at 5:50 pm
Even though we just got the .654, I wouldn't mind another bump up. Maybe one that will work with iheartradio and Opera? Please???
ilovemusic7 May 16, 2010 at 5:55 pm
I didn't get the link for the .654 right now I'm on .601. Can you give me a link to download the .654?
decypher44 May 16, 2010 at 6:25 pm
Sorry, I don't have a link. Got it a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if the link is still up, anyway.
Try looking in the 8530/8520 forum. I'll have a look, too.
demeanor76 May 16, 2010 at 6:27 pm
Well, I'll wait for official release. I've had enough with leaked version. Really can't stand for all the glitches. It's like gambling. Yeh, no more.
blackberrycurve May 16, 2010 at 7:15 pm

i did it, but it still doesn't work. any other suggestions?
BBB78 May 16, 2010 at 8:29 pm
in the same folder where you deleted the vendor.exe run the loader.exe file, you can load the OS this way. (make sure you backup everything in the desktop manager before you run the loader.exe file just in case)
O w i May 16, 2010 at 8:14 pm

VANGUARD_HD2 May 16, 2010 at 8:40 pm

onefirelizard May 16, 2010 at 8:53 pm

smoothwis May 16, 2010 at 8:57 pm
is the trackpad problem still here?
tonio425 May 16, 2010 at 8:59 pm
i dont have data anymore cuz of money issues had to take data off. so i had to use BBSAK in order to update my OS.
blackberrycurve May 16, 2010 at 9:07 pm
Make sure its the only os in the loader folder. If it still doesnt work you can upload it using a method called "stealth" mode. It will delete all of you info but it works. Open the loader.exe file, pull the battery from your device, and put it back in. Plug in the BB and IMMEDIATELY click the "next" button. Here's where you want to make sure the port shows USB: UNKNOWN.
If it shows the PIN, you were too slow and try again.
onefirelizard May 16, 2010 at 9:58 pm
Thanks guys!, i did it and i love it! :3

I've been sitting back and watching the comments. My two issues with the .610 update were the loss of 2 games and the lack of FF/Rew on the Media player. Sounds like the games are back. Any feedback on the Media player?
BBB78 May 16, 2010 at 10:32 pm
In this forum http://forums.crackberry.com/f95/willyboy-85xx-v4-3-654-656-662-669-676-... you can find the link to the media-files that fix the fastforward bug. Download the file, then paste them into your OS 610 Java folder (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8520...5.0.0.610...\Java) and reload the OS
blackberrycurve May 16, 2010 at 10:18 pm
The media player is smooth without glitches, videos, voicenotes, and I'm currently listening to music while writing this. It seems to be a solid OS I've ran it through the ringers.
coachmac May 16, 2010 at 10:36 pm
I was hoping that I would not have to go through the fix. Thank you though.
blackberrycurve - Is FF/Rew working?
coachmac May 17, 2010 at 12:48 am
Did the upgrade and FF and Rew are working great. Also seems faster. Still testing.
BBB78 May 17, 2010 at 1:03 am
that's great to hear, thanks!

Will Orange UK release the official OS 5.0 ?!
We will never have hope for OS 6 at this rate !
Get a move on Orange !
I don't want to be gambling with my BB and use a leaked version , as much as I am tempted to do so !
NightShade00013 May 17, 2010 at 3:36 am
Just go look for another companies official OS that is 5.0 version. It is a polished version and stable as can be, just a lot of companies don't want to have to update their support books or retrain staff to support a different OS. If you know how to work your phone and don't mind dealing with the forums for help there is no real reason why you can't use another vendors OS.
sidd1011 May 17, 2010 at 6:58 am
Just up-ing to the new version. Hope it comes off well. :)
Cynamonne May 17, 2010 at 10:56 am

Please i need help, after clicking on media/picture/all pictures, if I go ahead to click on a particular picture, the screen goes blank and stays that wat until you click on back...does anyone know how this can be fixed???
jaredberry May 17, 2010 at 4:02 pm
finally the my fav's icons are removed from the t-mobile theme!
that alone is enough for me ,even though i dont use that theme
it is nice to know that it is finally fixed!and everything ive noticed so far is running just fine . oh 1 thing bugs me when i first got the o s on my 8520 the icon for yahoo mail(not i.m.) showed the normal icon with color and after a reset the icon showed up just the white envelope with circle at the bottom? don't think its a big deal but just something that caught my eye,- since it changed to color from the .610 i had just upgraded from. also no save changes when exiting the sound profiles-it seems to auto-save. i know these are of little concearn to most but just little changes from .610 version. i like the rew and ff on media player also like before didnt really notice alot need for it but glad its back. all things i've found different so far are for the better.so thats all i got on it for now
jaredberry May 17, 2010 at 4:16 pm
after a os upgrade i noticed for the first time this trackpad problem i've been hearing alot about> my fix for this is a simple go to the options -screen/keyboard -change trackpad sensitivity to anything different exit and if you need or want to just go back again and set back to preferred setting you are used to this very clearly solved this problem for me being that right after the upgrade my trackpad was slow as crap!! and seemed to jump across icons like it had a frog in its ass!lol -try this if having trouble after this upgrade.hope it works for you.
ali_loly10 May 18, 2010 at 3:15 am

Just installed the new OS, and Bluetooth AV control support is broken.
I am unable to control the media player with my Bluetooth car stereo anymore.
Is there an alternate fix to this like the FF/REV fix I've been reading around?
Does anyone else has a problem like mine?
sandradee1031 Jun 22, 2010 at 2:31 pm
Does anyone have a link to the lastest OS for the 8520? Can't seem to find it on here. Thanks
