Hey Kevin,

Where do all the leaks come from anyway? Obviously RIM but how do you get them?

Don't ask...don't tell..

Posted by Diggs31 Sunday, May 02, 2010 753 days ago

3 hours after I tweet about the lack of leaks...quick turn around, maybe I should ask more often

Bryan from GizmoFusion.com here. Glad to help the 8530 users out there :)

It seems that the update is making switching between menus a little snappier...I'll keep updating this comment with feedback and adjusting the title accordingly.

Ok first update is that standby mode is history...instead putting the phone into "standby" locks the keypad in such a way that it doesn't require my password (I have a password lockout set for an hour and on startup.) Beyond that I did a restart after reinstalling the beta BBM from beta zone and I swear the full start up process took less time than on the official .459 OS. Like I said, I will keep updating this accordingly.

It's up and running on my phone, but I haven't noticed any real differences yet. Will report when I do!

Can someone else confirm that?

Can someone please take mercy on me and tell me how to do this? I wanto use this on my 8530.

Posted by DispatcherGirl Sunday, May 02, 2010 753 days ago

i dont... think i would download a "newer version" of my current until its released by RIM or my company - not risking my phone.

If there are no major changes and it's not official.. why even mess with it?

I have the Sprint 8530 rocking the official .459 OS. Will these leaked .654 work with the Sprint 8530?

Posted by Diggs31 Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

I'm using it, the description says its for Telus and Sprint

Posted by abdeoul77 Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

Faster and better battery life

Posted by Polo007 Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

So, faster as in the overall snapiness of the phone or just browser speed

Posted by abdeoul77 Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

faster overall

Posted by Polo007 Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

Did you have to delete the vendor .xml file? I have the Sprint 8530. When I dl'd the leak, it had telus/sprint next to the file name. So, do I still have to delete the vendor .xml file? And how long did it take?

Posted by abdeoul77 Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

i deleted the .xml file. ---- i have Sprint also. Took about 30min to download.

Is there any download for a Mac?

Posted by hermes Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

will it work for 8530i??

Posted by Diggs31 Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

Did you mean the 8350i from Nextel? If so the answer is probably no, but I am not a compatibility expert. I wouldn't risk it though.

Posted by hermes Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

hahaha my mistake it is the 8350i sorry , and thanxs

Posted by A-Bombed Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

Im a Sprint 8350 owner, was running .601, until I upgraded to this... The speed when running apps and battery life are greatly improved. Remember just make sure to delete vendor.xml. I have to say it again, this is a MUST.

Posted by bjustice Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

Posted by Polo007 Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

Just where exactly do I find it at?

Posted by bjustice Monday, May 03, 2010 752 days ago

The link for the OS update has been removed? Any one have the 411 on the scoop? Can anyone sent me the file to update my phone? Since the link is down.

After spending about 35 mins to complete the entire process last night, I have noticed a couple of things.
-The phone does seem faster
-The pics in the gallery look more "Hi-res". No more blurry pics!
-Phone seems to boot up faster
-Native browser seems faster as well

That's all for now. Anybody got anything else?

Posted by knoel82 Tuesday, May 04, 2010 751 days ago

my links don't work for bolt or opera; so far pros outweigh cons :) much faster and battery is actually staying charged for a change! ****I am concerned though because i could not find the vendor files tho erase...I'm on verizon and tether with my bb too. Everything seems to be fine..so far. Sooo my question is: what happens if the vendor files aren't erased???

Here's the first bit of bad news. The keyboard lock has been totally removed from the phone. Now, you can only put the phone into standby mode by pressing and holding the "a" key while on the home screen.
Personally, I liked the keyboard lock feature, but its only a small missing feature. No big deal.

I've looked and looked for another link to download this os. Anybody know of any other. This one says it has been removed.

Has anyone noticed if their radio reception has dropped off a little. Just had the .601 and it was doing the same (not very strong). Haven't tried installing the .509 radio.

I am on US Cellular and stuck with 337 so tried this one. Works great - did get the Opera trackpad bug, but Bolt works great! BB browser is snappier. Camera works better for me - not as pixelated in center. Overall, snappier.

i think i will go back to the .601. i thought the browser and the system all together were faster then this one.

I HAVE A BLACKBERRY CURVE 8530 AND the date is 5/15/2010 and all I did was go to Setup, Updates, Wireless Update, andits installed the new OS 5.0.0.654 - It's FASTER BOOT TIME so far I'm noticing, faster speeds, Less lagg, Java runs faster in Browsers, theinternet is faster, EVERYTHING IS GREAT

THIS UPDATE IS GREAT! DONT DOWNLOAD THE STUPID LEAKED VERSION, WAIT UNTIL ITS RELEASED SO YOU DONT SCREW UP YOUR PHONE YOU TWIRPS. It's GREAT!
