Downloading now. Let's see what happens.

I've been running bbtweeps hybrid v1.2 (just upgraded to v1.5 today, actually) for about a week now, it's .643 with a .285 platform and it's smoking fast, no browser click issue whatsoever and blazing internet speeds. I use my device for personal use and business use all day, and just clocked total battery life at 27 hours with moderate to heavy usage. not too shabby :)
of course, the advantage to running a hybrid is that you can remove all unwanted files/apps/etc. to speed up the whole OS even more....

Posted by hilliuse Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

have u tried multiple hybrids? is this the best u've tried?
thinking about it, but not sure yet. but my tour is way to slow right now

Posted by jdiettrich Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

How do you install a hybrid? How do you find one?

Posted by G.4 Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

is the site that i use. they have a knowledgeable user forum as well, similar to crackberry. the hybrids are installed very similarly to the regular OS, it's really user-friendly if you read the instructions (link follows), take your time, and be careful. which is pretty much true for anything haha. click this link: http://driphter.com/index.php?board=108.0

YES, i have tried many hybrids... to guess i'd say around 10. they all ran very well on my device, i think it's a personal preference as to which one you like the best. if you've got an extra 30 minutes to load one, give one a spin.
as i said in my original post, i am currently running BBtweeps v1.5 which is nearly full java, .643 with .285 platform and it's my favorite so far, but Driphter's v10.2 was pretty sweet also. BBtweeps v1.5 is rockin' a new radio which has boosted my signal strength by a few bars in my area so i'm super stoked about that :)

Can't wait, hope it fixes the browser click pretty please....

I know how I'm going to be spending my Saturday!

Downloading, please browser click!

Update: Browser Click Issue is Gone, thank goodness, other than that I don't notice any differences.

Update: Anyone notice App World is having some problems?

Posted by NastyNeil Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

Downloaded it. So far so good. I deleted all Verizon related things and also all gmail related things, because of the known battery and memory leak issues from build's past. I don't use gmail, so it doesn't matter anyway. I did not see any ptt files, or I would have removed them. Does anyone know what carrier this leak is from?

Posted by stubbornswiss Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

Since you say you "deleted all Verizon related things ", wouldn't it be reasonable to assume this is a verizon os?

Posted by DC2GSR Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

Sprint is "suppose" to release another update for the Tour sunday

Posted by NastyNeil Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

Well, it had sprint and verizon files in it. It didn't have PTT though. I think a lot of these leaks have brand specific things in all of them, and then when you load it to your phone, whatever carrier you have, those specific things are pushed to your phone. I don't know if it is verizon or not. Not having PTT made me think maybe it wasn't, because this is a newer build, and .591 had PTT files. Unless they are not including that in their OS updates now.

Posted by Jay24 Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

anyone tested thing leak out yet i just came across it. i hope it has good battery strength and good signal.

Posted by r2ski93 Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

Browser Click Issue = GONE
Just booted w/ 11 apps @ 114 Mb
Radio seems solid

Seems like we tour users got a good leak!

Posted by Jay24 Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

have you notice if the battery life is good also

Posted by kingzee Friday, Apr 30, 2010 755 days ago

Browser works fine. No clicking issues. Never really had battery or signal issues with the OS's I've used in the past.

Posted by jmbladel Saturday, May 01, 2010 755 days ago

PTT? If so, I'm grabbing this one Saturday.

Posted by lordgoofy Saturday, May 01, 2010 755 days ago

I can't get DM to see the update after I downloaded and installed the update, wondering if I am doing something wrong. I will unistalled everything again tomorrow and try it then.

Posted by lordgoofy Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

Finally got it to install thie morning using BBSAK instead of DM. So far things are going good.

Posted by Jay24 Saturday, May 01, 2010 755 days ago

delete the vendor file, find your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion

Posted by Vurhan Saturday, May 01, 2010 755 days ago

So what radio version is this? I'm running BBTweeps .643 v1.2 as well and its swell except for where battery life is concerned. Imma get down to either v1.5 or this 'official' leak, depending on which radio's better.

Posted by G.4 Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

is working extremely well on my sprint 9630

Posted by jmercier34 Saturday, May 01, 2010 755 days ago

has anyone noticed that with a leaked os, when you click on your contacts and choose one, then click on it and pick sms or something, it flashes to your main messages folder first, then lets you input???? It keeps happening to me with every single one except an official one i downloaded. why is this??? Its not heart breaking its just a little annoying you know.

Posted by mlm5em Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

Yes, I hadn't noticed it before, but that is definitely happening. It might be annoying, but nowhere near as bad as the browser click, so I don't mind.

Posted by picaroon Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

I noticed it too, but not until you pointed it out. I just thought it was part of the way the OS did things.

Posted by joshua.worth Sunday, May 02, 2010 753 days ago

Because it does it really fast its probably just the way it accesses the message application

Posted by denison1g Saturday, May 01, 2010 755 days ago

wow..by far the best leak i've ever loaded onto my Tour, this leak is hybrid like. browser is ridiculous fast, radio is great, no browser click issue, memory jumped about 10MB, VERY snappy and I highly recommend. I'm coming from Sprints official .484 build

Posted by acmecocktail Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

I'll second that! Had to uninstall and reinstall Meterberry (and it still won't do scheduled resets w/o an additional step), but overall, this OS sings!

Posted by boomerbsg Saturday, May 01, 2010 755 days ago

How's the boot up time?

Posted by denison1g Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

I just timed my bootup time and it booted up in 2mins 26seconds from the time I put my battery back in. I have 6-7 apps loaded

Posted by picaroon Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

Took 6:44 for me. I have nearly full 8gig memory card and 4-5 apps though. Don't know if that makes a differance.

Posted by juggaloFX Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

everytime i download a os it tends to show a (verizon) or (sprint) at the end of the file name. This one shows (verizon) so i am going to guess its a verizon build

Posted by zpasc002 Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

Is there a mirror for this leak? This link is not working for me

Posted by denison1g Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

I can upload later, around 4pm est if a link hasn't been posted by then

Posted by juggaloFX Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

upgrading to this is a must. I am soooo happy i did. This is actually the first time i used a leak os and i am happy as hell. Fully recommend it

I updated via DM and all steps completed successfully but it just hung on the Reconnecting to JVM? I ended up disconnecting from cable, did a battery pull and all seems OK - it states I have this latest version on ABOUT screen. Browser click issue is fixed and the browser smokes now!

Anyone else experience the issue with the JVM reconnect though? Thanks!

Posted by SuzisZoo Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

This was my first time loading an "unofficial" OS. I've always waited for the release from the carrier. However, after the hot mess that Verizon 5.0 was, I decided to give this a try. I couldn't take the browser click issue and random locking up of the screen anymore. I have had NO issues with this version. Browser click problem is totally gone, browser is crazy fast, battery life is good, no complaints at all!!!!!!!

Posted by picaroon Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

I just installed the new OS and overall, it seems to be fairly good. Nothing looks different except the messages view where the days are separated by a bar that somehow looks different.

• The stock BB browser seems to work more quickly than before but I have no way of actually measuring. Perception becomes the reality in this case.
• The line wrapping when typing a longer message in BBM seems to have been resolved. It always took a few seconds to adjust the text width when wrapping the first line and starting the 2nd. Previously, When typing, the entry field would freeze for 1-2secs while wrapping the line, then all the text I had entered would "catch up." Picky, I know.
• Voice dialling is MUCH better. I never used it because it didn't recognize several of the names I called:
Ex. Wark resulted in Warren, Walker, Wanda etc
Ex. Pihrag (pronounced: peer' awg) resulted in general system meltdown
Ex. Wapass not recognized....bet he never got teased in school >:o
All of the ones I tried worked flawlessly. I may actually use this function now. BTW, I performed the Voice Adaptation in Options|Voice Dialling and it made a lot of difference.

Ok guys.....I've got the Verizon 5.0 and it's garbage. I want to download this leak but I have no clue how to do it. Can someone give me a brief how to? I am on a Macbook Pro with OS X. Can I download directly onto my Tour?

Posted by 318sugarhill Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

I'm a mac user, but you need windows for this, so unless you have bootcamp, or another way to load windows, your SOL. I am currently downloading through my imac running xp on bootcamp.

open up desktop manager, back your phone, close desktop manager. install the exe u downloaded. open up desktop manager and it should prompt u for the update, then install it.

Giving this a trial run, works good so far, no browser click issue yet. PTT doesn't work though. Oh well, if it fixes memory and battery problems I'm sold.

Posted by Nwordplzplz Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

I have yet been able to install this OS. Any suggestions would be helpful. :)

Is the lock button(top left) usable? Can you use the autolock with this?
Before anyone says "you can enable password" I hate that. Just want to know if you can use auto lock. I have been burned too many times by crapy leaks which is why I'm still on .419

Posted by joshua.worth Sunday, May 02, 2010 753 days ago

The otheres had too many glitches so i always downgraded but this OS is amazing

Posted by chads14 Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

works like a charm

Posted by mingus007 Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

In the middle of the first real day's shakedown. Battery seems to have slightly greater life (being how radio also seems improved, presumably making life easier on said battery). Been able to do a lot of data stuff I previously couldn't (or had difficulty pulling signal) locations. Browser DEFINITELY fixed (stupid click issue). Boot time seems comparable to previous official and unofficial OSs of all sorts (~2.4min) w/4 apps at launch.

Haven't meddled w/SMS/MMS since Kik. That's my 2 bits. All in all, better than official. NOT having PTT(free for life or no) is not missed.

* Note: Used Shrink-a-OS to get ride of a lot of garbage prior to install, btw (using Loader). Trimmed 70MB install to 40, so net gain of +6MB once all is up and running.

Posted by l7jr Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

I downloaded the leaked OS onto my Verizon Tour and so far it seems better. Then again this is what I said about .591 initially and it sucked in the long run.

It took approximately 40-45 minutes to install it via desktop manager.

-Browser click issue seems to be gone; still too early to tell.
-Boot time significantly quicker.
-Memory increased.

Posted by geocab Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

Why is it that with every single OS release there are comments on how the boot time is faster, yet it never is?

Posted by l7jr Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

The boot time is quicker compared to the 2 builds of .591 that were from Verizon. The white bar on the boot screen went to the "e" in the word blackberry in less than 2 minutes. I have never seen my phone load that quickly.

The phone may not seem like it is booting quicker on the first few times because the software has to settle in with the phone. It's like a pc...whenever updates are installed it takes longer to boot but then in the long run it speeds up with time.

Posted by boomerbsg Sunday, May 02, 2010 754 days ago

419 was super fast on mine.. like night and day difference on boot times.. but the subsequent leaks and then official VZW and now this one, is much slower..

cheers

I see that this file is listed as 101.8 MB, but when I download it says the file is only 47 KB. It also gives me an error that says:

The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are funning (I am running Vista 64 bit). Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

Anyone with a 64 bit system download it and able to use it? Is there an available link to get a 64-bit compatible version?

Any help is appreciated.

Posted by mlm5em Sunday, May 02, 2010 754 days ago

I am running 64-bit and it worked on mine, so I don't think that is your problem.

Posted by kano2864212 Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

Works perfect browser click fixed and much faster!

Posted by juniorson Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

does this support push to talk for verizon??

Posted by 318sugarhill Saturday, May 01, 2010 754 days ago

but PTT sucked anyway, and worse was .519. Scrap it, use this version and you will be much happier. My phone will now last more that half a day. I was beginning to hate the friggin thing. Can't believe VZW didn't make .419 official, but sent us .519. IT WAS CRAAAAAAPPPPPPP!

Posted by isteal Sunday, May 02, 2010 754 days ago

This is a must load os for vzw users! Both releases of .591 were like a kindergarten science project compared to this. The browser is lightning fast, the click issue is gone, my battery life is better, the phone runs faster, and overall satisfaction is high. Boot time is still awful (7-9 minutes) but tolerable with a device that runs well. (People always think I am joking about 10 minute boot times). Recommended!

Posted by Shade02 Sunday, May 02, 2010 754 days ago

So far so good

Upgrade worked great...I used my blackberry DM....worked soo smooth. Didnt even have to delete no vendor file!

Posted by livejam Sunday, May 02, 2010 754 days ago

Much faster and lighter than the official vzw version!

I have updated my tour probably 6 times on the same computer, the same exact way without ever the slightest of problems. Now, of course - when there is a leak that appears to actually be an upgrade, hours of trying has gotten me NOWHERE. I deleted the vendor, I even uninstalled my DM and reinstalled it, the same exact thing happens every time. Please help me if you have any idea what this could be ---- OK, so if I just connected my phone right now, no problem DM would pick it up and we're all good. However, when I run the new OS, which opens DM at the final step, whether my phone is already plugged in or whether I plug it in after - all I get is (NONE). Then of course, I close DM down, reopen and there is my tour. I try app loader, update software and it shows my 5.0 (current) - and 3 other "official" OS's that say (downgrade).
I'm so sorry for the long message but please help me - this is driving me insane. Thank you so much, you guys rock!

Posted by scorpioz Sunday, May 02, 2010 754 days ago

Try deleting the vendor file again (it reappears) and disconnect the internet as well.

Posted by kafitze Sunday, May 02, 2010 753 days ago

Followed the instructions on installing a leaked OS, it is showing up on my laptop, however BB DM is not picking it up as a possible OS Update. I extracted it and ran the file. Any thoughts on my possible error? This is the first time I have tried to install a leaked OS and I am dealing with a refurb Tour from Verizon. Thanks for the help.

Uninstall all old OS builds from your computer, go to My Computer-OS C:Drive-Program Files-Common Files-Research in Motion-App Loader and erase everything that is in there as well. Then, install the new OS build. When it is loaded, go back in to Computer-OS C: Drive-Program Files-Common Files-Research in Motion-App Loader and remove the vendor file. Next, turn off your wireless connection to your computer, or internet connection if you are on a desk top computer. Then check the box to open the DM. It WILL work if you follow these steps.

Only problem I've encountered so far is the speed dial shortcut keys won't let you reassign "A", "Q" and "W". You hit the return key, it takes you to your contacts, you select the number and click the ball, and...NOTHING. "A" is still "Lock Keypad", etc.

Other than that, no issues. Browser definitely is quicker, and no clicky-issues thank GOD!

Has anyone noticed any problems with their Gmail 2 way sync. Before I loaded this leak, my sent messages from the web were showing up on my device, but after the install, the sent messages no longer show up. Does this leak not support the new 2 way sync feature?
