Leaked: OS 5.0.0.592 for the BlackBerry Curve 8520
In what seems to be an endless supply of leaks, OS 5.0.0.592 for the Curve 8520 has popped up this morning. BBLeaks again gave some love with another leaked build today, adding to the Bold 9000 and Curve 8900 leaks from yesterday. I'm starting to like these last two weeks with the insane amount of new OS' that have been coming up. Hit the link below to download. Note:

*OS Disclaimer - Please Read: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release and as such is not supported by RIM or your Carrier. If you choose to install, do so at your own risk and only if you're comfortable in the process of upgrading and downgrading your device software. It is quite normal during operating system development for certain features to be crippled or disabled while others are tested, and these beta builds often reflect that. They are not always better. Depending on your BlackBerry comfort level, it may be best for you to wait for community feedback on a build before deciding to download and install for yourself or simply wait for the next official release. If you require support, you will find it in our CrackBerry forums via our extremely knowledgeable community base - do not contact your carrier or RIM for Beta OS technical support (their first course of action will be to advise you to downgrade to a supported OS). *

They just don't love us 9530 owners anymore :-( It's like Christmas and you are the only one without a present.

Agreed... I'm getting a little sad that we haven't been given anything...

My employeer has blocked all the file sharing sites. Looks like I'll have to wait till I get home. They must want me to work today.
giantvegenetics Apr 1, 2010 at 11:12 am
They blocked me?

Is there any way to install OS 5 without being on the Blackberry Internet Service? I use AT&T unlimited data plan & do not use BIS. Thanks!

just updated to this version, and so far so good

on the 5.0.411, my 8520 would take 15-25 minutes to restart from a battery pull
but with this new os, it only takes 5-6 minutes to restart and only a minute for everything to be loaded after a battery pull

BBBakker Apr 1, 2010 at 11:46 pm
What do you mean by a "my faves icon", is it an application or is it a folder that's missing? I might be able to help. Customer support always want to do a master reset, which might not be necessary. Drop me a line

Will this 8520 leaked OS work for the 8530 on the Sprint network?? I have already downloaded it and waiting to see if it does work!
BBBakker Apr 1, 2010 at 11:04 pm
It most probably won't work, if you can't wait and want to update your OS, you're better. off installing a hybrid. There's a few around for the 8530. Check www.bbhybrids.net or www.driphter.com

The .554 had a few glitches for me, hopefully the .592 will be an improvement. (Password for encrypted .592 rar file is "BBLEAKS.COM" ;-p)

loaded the OS and the trackpad does not scroll. i can only click to select.
bladey2k10 Apr 2, 2010 at 2:28 pm
can anyone help, cant get desktop manager to recognise the install, tried all sorts, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried the loader option, and just wont recognise. anyone else had the same prob? even tried with previous 5.0 and still nothing.
BBBakker Apr 3, 2010 at 4:15 am
Try loading it through BBSAK, this worked for me in the past. (don't forget to delete the vendor.exe file, I assume you've done that though)
BBBakker Apr 3, 2010 at 4:13 am
my trackpad had a bit of a spasm in the media folder menus on this leaked OS, it did settle down after I changed the settings in the keyboard/trackpad menu
BBcrazed Apr 4, 2010 at 8:12 pm
does anyone know how to get the actual download on the 8520?
xBBGirlx Apr 6, 2010 at 3:25 pm
I tried this build for a couple days..load up time from battery pull was significantly slow, memory dropped from 138mb to 121mb..using it on Orange UK and UMA stopped working..Battery drained faster and BBM very slow and kept freezing..it was so frustrating! Browser wasn't really any faster than .509. Didnt have any trackpad problems but the other buggy issues mentioned has made me go back to the official .509 which I found to be far more stable.
