Congratulations Storm 2 owners....now come on RIM...give us Tour owners a leak or better yet an official OS 5 that is actually worth downloading. .230 has been around for a while now.

Posted by bubbasixx Monday, Dec 14, 2009 790 days ago

from the mirror listed on the post.

We'll see what this OS does soon...

Posted by McNooberson Monday, Dec 14, 2009 790 days ago

look farther down on the front page, it should be there somewhere.

Yay! Can't wait to finish this download!!!

that leak was garbage!

Posted by snowwy66 Monday, Dec 14, 2009 790 days ago

try running a hybrid for the tour. that'll satisfy your thirst for something different. i hear it even has some extra features. if you get the correct radio file. it's faster. stronger signal. and includes tabbed web browsing.

i'm running hybrid on my curve. quite happy with phone. not worried about a leaked 5 anymore. defenitly has extra features. and also makes my phone look like a tour now.intead of the basics it was equipped with. but that dont mean i won't try it if it ever gets official.

you want something different!!!!
hybrids are defenitely worth your time to look at. and i hear you want 7.14(the latest).

H Y B R I D baby

Posted by syquest1 Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

I have been afraid to mess with hybrids. A lot of steps to take to get it to work right. How advantageous is it?

I had hoped the world wouldn't forget about us poor guinea pig Storm 1 users once the actual-ready-for-market Storm2 dropped. But, alas...

So far so good, only issue that I have is that for some reason I have 2 of each of the folders listed above. Very strange. Any idea why? or how to get rid of the dups?

Can someone post a mirror or link to a .DMG or MAC version of this file. The .exe will not work of course?

Posted by hoenemeyerj Wednesday, Dec 16, 2009 788 days ago

Same issue. I have a mac, too. Can anyone help, or are we mac-users just going to have to wait for the official release?

Posted by GermanBlackBerry Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

I have noticed that they have the new BBM 5.0.0.55 on the update but also if anyone that has updated has look that there are a few additions in the Core App list that i dont know what they do or what they are for they look like they are for BBM but i cant say. Beside that the Leak is working great nice updates that the Storm1 had and the WLAN is updated as well..

Posted by mavericsoul Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

oh man.. this thing is off the chain.. there is a wider keyboard and the device just seems to bullet through everything so far.. all 3rd party apps work find.. just finished with the new bbm that is great too.. i cant wait to really dig into this thing and see what its hiding inside. we are coming for you droid.. coming for you HARD!!!!!!

ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS DOES IT FIX THE UPDATED HOMESCREEN ICON ISSUE ?

Posted by mavericsoul Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

im sure a restoral should fix it.. i didnt have that issue..

Posted by piper975 Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

So that only leaves the 8350i that has not had a leak yet then !!!

Posted by Kozar82 Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

- Updates to the Homes Screen Icons are fixed
- BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.0.55 included
- Pop up Keys on Keyboard - have to enable Options>Screen/Keyboard> Show Key Indicator = Always
- Landscaped Keyboard - Space Bar and Shift Keys are wider
- Playback for some DIVX based media files I had on my memory card is no longer working (audio only) - and I tried to re-load them as well to no effect - though the playback previously on them was not that smooth to begin with

.. so far that is all I have notices but just

Posted by Loony2nz Wednesday, Dec 16, 2009 788 days ago

my movies are only audio now. guess i'll have to convert them again. maybe the upgrade missed a codec somewhere.

Posted by mavericsoul Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

thank you for that lil bit of info.. yeah.. i like that function on the keyboard.. i think i fell in love once more with my storm 2 droid we are really coming to get ya now..

Posted by cr2886 Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

This should be official for Verizon very soon...heard possibly this week! Please post major changes you guys notice...

Posted by ajtouchstone Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

So far, seems very speedy. Load time was average. The most notable change is the keyboard. The highlight is bigger over the letters and when you click down all the way, the letters darken. Not bad.

The first major issue is that all my calendar items have been duplicated. I am trying to fix it the easy way but so far the issue still exists. All my 3rd party programs are happily running. I am very sure this has the latest build of BBM preloaded.

Other than that, so far so good! I'm going to load it on all the other Storm2's on my VZW account.

Posted by ajtouchstone Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

So it seems that a reboot fixed the calendar. It could be also that I logged into Google Sync and it may have fixed everything...

Good luck.

WORKS GOOD ON MY STORM 2....A LIL FASTER.I BATTERY PULLED 4 TIMES..THATS WHAT I ALWAYS DO.THIS IS JUST DAY ONE WITH THE NEW OS.GOOD JOB CRACKBERRY

Posted by cstormberry Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

This is a very good leak!
+ All the good stuff said above
+ Not only is the Key Indicator back, but its better than their initial attempt on one of the later 5.0 S1 leaks where the letter was just a box (which was whack!) Now its apple-esque with the letter in the bubble.
+ I booted up w/ 15MB more free space off of a full reboot than before the upgrade
+ The phone is more responsive, but we'll see what tomorrow's usage brings.
- Did get the duplicate calendar entry bug
- A bug where scrolling up/down right before pressing 'back' (while the elasticity is still snapping back to centered) to go the the home screen is present leaves all of the icons stuck up or down (depending on which way you scroll before hitting back)
-/+ Got a one-off bug where the browser gave an error saying that the request was a wifi enabled transaction, and since my phone was renegotiating my connection with the router, I had no wifi connection yet. Only happened once. In case you get this error, I changed my default browser configuration in Options>Advanced Options>Browser from "hotspot browser" to "internet browser" and back again; then, i reloaded the webpage. Not sure what that did, but I never got the error again (even when surfing w/ wifi disabled)

Posted by sgt-d Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

and... the media player bugs? every time i play music thru the aux port to my car stereo the next song is dead quiet until i unplug the jack at the phone, plug it back in, then look down again to press play, and then swerve to miss hitting the deer...

Posted by RSH Monday, Dec 14, 2009 789 days ago

Aside from the duplicate calendar entries, mine works great. The pop-up letters on the landscape keyboard make typing so much more fluid. Everything seems to work fast with no lag time. A big improvement.
