LOL I bet the tour people are going to be mad. I have a tour and I just stop paying attention to all the 5.0 stuff. It will be released when released :]

Man, looks like I'm gonna have to go to walmart to get the new bold for the $128 with upgrade contract. Seems like an even sweeter deal now!

I sure as hell hope that this leak doesn't have all these pre installed links of un wanted games, and apps.

Posted by s2kneSs Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

The SMS bug is fixed!!! :) I got a good feeling that this leak is going to the the official T-Mobile update. Everything works! and the themes under options look like they looked with any official release. MyFaves is still there :)

Clicking with the trackpad while browsing also works now, before we had to hit the enter key on our keyboard.

Browsing seems quicker on EDGE.

Posted by Aboodubai Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

Stop giving leaks for the 9700 it was released with 5.0

while the bold 9000 (my bold) was on running on 4.6

Release 5.0 for the bold 9000 already!

Posted by rafac24 Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

LOL. The Bold 9000 has at least 3, if not more, 5.0 leaks from a while back. Check the forums

Posted by gr8cop Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

Havent got to play with it yet, but it seems to be working well. This is my first upgrade, I kept the .330 that came with the official t-mob release. Im on BES, so if I have any issues I will report.

Posted by slava888 Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

Any word on the battery life with this build?
I hope they fixed that issue.

I assume no OTA link, right?

Posted by Statehouse Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

Anybody know how to upgrade OS using BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac?

Its a great program, but I'm having problems figuring out how to do this.

Yes Tour peeps are made due to the Tour 2! =) That is why they are seeing less love on those OS leaks and or official.

I have the worst timing? Hopefully someone will graciously put this back out there! I need my SMS FIX. :)

Posted by ttop Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

Before the update to 405 I had individual mailboxes for corp email (BES) and personal email. I seem to have lost that option. Now I have to use the messages Icon again, and all my SMS and BBM messages show in there as well. Anyone know how to separate them again, or can someone confirm that the option is now gone?

Posted by BoscoBerry24 Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

Can't you separate SMS and emails into separate boxes through options?

Posted by HofstraJet Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

I will be updating my 9700 this weekend and will report back on whether that feature is back. I hate having personal email combined with BES emails.

Posted by leob Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

The message list option under messages is what controlled what separate email addresses as well as sms text you wanted to see under Messages icon. Seems this is now gone in .405. I can live with the SMS bug until the Message list is added back in. Back to .351 for me. :(

You can remove BBM's and SMS from the main messages folder using the options menu in BBM, but confirmed the separate email box thing is gone from this build. No biggy to me though as that's the way it was on my 9000. Was just a nice feature when I moved to the 9700. It will be back I'm sure!

Muhahahah it's a good thing I sold my 8900 on eBay for $200.00 even. They got a good deal, I got a good deal in my opinion. It was a win win. I even was nice enough to put the most stable OS on the Blackberry... I remember a time when the 8900 has a ton of updates and it seemed for a while 5.0 for the 8900 was coming soon. I think it's funny that now that 9700 has 5.0 and it's on it's way to 6.0 with the amount of updates and leaks. LOL!

Posted by jhrain Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

Can anyone tell if this is a T-Mobile Build or AT&T (are they specific to carriers? Based on postings by some users it seems they are).

Posted by VZWRocka Monday, Dec 07, 2009 899 days ago

Builds aren't carrier specific. The TMo versions may use a different platform because the difference in 3G frequencies (I've never gotten a clear answer on that) but any build should install on any 9700 and the internal RIM versions (what these leaks are) probably work on both.

Posted by DanielVox Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

UMM for whatever reason I installed this but it's just an application loader? I have windows 7, i bet that's why this is messing up..... Grrrrr !!! This will not install into my applications ? It says it's done installing.. but when i am done it just goes to application loader and then will not find my device. ... this is stupid! And then if I want to close out of application loader I cannot find it AT ALL on the computer to try and load it up again. I have to uninstall and then reinstall .. GAY!

Posted by bigjman Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

I hate having to dig through peoples comments asking about why this isn't available for their device to get to comments from actual 9700 users. They do have forum sections for your phone where you can ask.

Posted by mcgoo25 Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

@DanielVox--Try using BBSAK to install the OS. Sometimes from what I've noticed the Application Loader does not always recognize the difference in the OS. But BBSAK will find it right away.

On the other hand--SMS issue has been resolved!!!! So much nicer to see who I have been texting, and easier to organize strings of messages.

@jhrain--I believe this to be a Tmo build. It does still have the Myfaves support.

Posted by amirnabilkamelsaad Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

If so, would it work on ATT 3G?
I need my 3G for tethering and calls at the same time...

Posted by DanielVox Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

I figured it out... however now I have a SMS Issue. / Inbox issue... go figure. HA HA I cannot delete prior now. when I try to all messages stay in the inbox( I have ONE mail box for SMS MMS and EMails. Ill restart my BB and see what happens HOWEVER if it turns into me needing to restart every time I'm going back to 330. On the bright side I now can sync contacts via the internet .. which is NICE!

Posted by batrad Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

wow.. another OS in under a week

Posted by DanielVox Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

I noticed that the load time for me was quicker too. btw what SMS issues were in the last builds ?

Oh wait ... as I watch my BB load I notice that the little bar under blackberry just moves quicker..... ha ha Guess it does not load faster because the car is all the way filed 100% and it still has not loaded ...

I still have TMobile 3G ... or if you want to call it 3G The only thing this 3G phone is good for is for IMs an calls at the same time.... Nothing more. It's not really fast if you ask me.

Posted by mcgoo25 Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

@Daniel, The SMS issues that have been in the previous OS's have been the displaying of just the phone number rather than the name. It was all dependent on how the number was saved into your address book. If it was saved as (123)123-4567 then it wouldn't read as the contact name, but if it was saved as 123456789 then it would read. The OS just wasn't reading the phone number format.

@amirnabilkamelsaad, I don't really have an answer for you. My gut says you should be fine, I thought the 3G bans may be part of the hardware of the phone, but I may be incorrect. Sorry.

I am getting the error message: "application loader could not connect to your device" in between backup 3rd part apps and read device system stages, it's stuck trying to read rom, both in DM and apploader tried. Any ideas? Thanks. ATT 9700

:-p

Posted by remipmc Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

settings>options>mobile backup
when i went into my contacts i was promted to use mobile backup, which i blindly accepted. it synced all my contacts to the tmobile "mylife" application. So now all your contacts can be backed up without a 3rd party app (like google sync)

the only problem i am noticing is that the latest beta from ubertwitter does not seem to work on this OS. it keeps getting hung up on retrieving

Anyone do an install under Parallels? I bricked my first 9700 the second day and could not unbrick.
I have MBP with parallels 5 and windows 7.

ANY thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Mostly I want the SMS bug to go away.

Thanks!!!

Posted by Stevehose Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

I tried mine (see above "Stuck" post) on Paralleles, maybe thats why it didnt work? Mine got stuck on Step 4 but didnt brick.

UPDATE: I DID THIS ON A PC AND IT INSTALLED FINE NO PROB MUST HAVE BEEN A PARALLELS ISSUE.

Seriously this is getting ridiculous! this is for 9700 owners to help each other and report bugs/improvements with this new update.

Posted by kayceeee Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

yeap pretty sick of it too lol i know they've been waiting and all but if its not out then its not out, no need to spam the 9700 posts and voice ur frustrations about why there isnt any for your device, if you really want this os then go get the 9700 rather than spamming our posts everytime there is a leaked one or just sit back and wait.

If you are typing an SMS... and you press Shift and then delete, does it still delete the entire SMS you just typed??

PLEASE let me know, I'm about to return my 9700 because of this... i HATE this issue.

Posted by Stevehose Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

yes it deletes all typed text

I hope they fix this on the next OS update

Posted by dannygould Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

You're going to return your bold 9700 because you can't type and hit the delete key? Really? Because of that? What phone would you get instead?

Posted by sectores Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

looks like this one is for T-Mobile 9700 models only, as AT&T phones use different 3G bands. While the AT&T models probably will run on this rev, they won't have full duplex 3G speeds. If you are an AT&T user and don't mind running on EDGE, then give this a shot.

Also, is it me or has the T-Mobile 3G network been slowing down the last couple weeks? I also have a MyTouch and regardless of where I am in the 3G coverage area, it's not nearly as zippy as it was even two months ago. Lets hope T-Mo won't run into the same issues at AT&T with too may users eating up the spectrum.

Posted by gregory.cogan Friday, Dec 04, 2009 902 days ago

I'd return it because... I delete almost every SMS I'm TRYING to send. I absolutely hate texting because of it. I honestly would live without BBM to be able to SMS without that bulsh**.

The issue isn't what I can't type... it's the issue of pressing shift to capitalize something and then realizing i need to backspace... DELETES the entire message.

SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THAT IF YOU ARE IN SMS AND TYPING A MESSAGE, WHILE YOU'RE TYPING... YOU PRESS SHIFT AND THEN IMMIDIATELY AFTER TAP DELETE IF IT DELETES THE ENTIRE SMS. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. NEED TO KNOW IF IT'S FIXED SO I DON'T GET RID OF MY PHONE IF THE ISSUE IS FIXED.

Posted by heartspeace Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 902 days ago

tried all the tricks I know - used to load different brand's OS's onto my 8310... this one doesn't seem to recognize the ATT model as being compatible. Went so far as tried to load in a couple of the modules separately (e.g. aol.alx blackberry.alx) and it simply said it is NOT compatible.

So for AT&T unless someone can say they successfully loaded it, and it works, and doesn't do things like kill 3G speeds. Do not download this - save your time.

It may be the version that AT&T is considering - but Im not sure anyone here is using AT&T. I even tried disabling the auto-upgrade, disconnecting it from the net. yes delete the vendor..xml files, etc. Nothing seems to work, so far as I know AT&T is still stuck on 296 (463).

Of course Im using Windows 7 x64 so anything is possible that its a Microsoft's problem and Im totally wrong.;)

Posted by kayceeee Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

does this have east asian language support?

Posted by evorc Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

It's fast, it gives you 5mb more memory, sms bug gone, 3g seems faster, no slow downs at all, and on top of that I just found a very useful option that I hated with the previous version I had is that when you try to open a link from email it automatically open it with opera now it gives you the option to open it in default browser or opera mini. This version I am betting my money on is that it will be next tmo's os update.

Posted by josher Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

I just restarted my bberry after loading the os and although the progress bar is complete and the signal light is on, my phone will not actually start-up! Anyone else having this problem or know a remedy to the situation?

Posted by dr_w Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

Give it time, it will finish.

FYI: I'm using ATT and get 3G equally fast as the last OS I had loaded.

I even used tha BBSAK to install the Greek language i had with .351! :D
So happy!!!

Posted by callcom Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

Don't know if this is related to a botched install or if they still have some bugs trying to get MyFaves to work on this phone (initially, the 9700 was not MyFaves compatible - check the label on the outside of the box). I've got the MyFaves Icon, but no pictures of my contacts. Keep getting repeated messages from TMO saying that the MyFaves contact Icon is invalid (which it isn't), and have the following program being shown as running in the background: net_rim_tmo_enabler. Called customer service and the tech did mention that they are in the process of making MyFaves compatible with the 9700. Anybody else on TMO with MyFaves having any issues or a possible fix? So far, loving the new OS (except for this minor annoyance).

Posted by lisap006 Sunday, Dec 06, 2009 901 days ago

yea im getting the myfaves notificaton error message thru out the day and its driving me crazy but having mobile back up is worth the annoyance of this message :)...i have an employee account so theres no way i can even go to a non-myfaves rate plan :(....maybe next leak will fix this issue

Posted by loulou80 Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

yeh that feature sucks, i would pay for a app that disables that function...i do the same thing, im typing, hit alt to cap or use punctuation, and make a mistake and delete and instead of the one letter, the entire text deletes. best thing i can tell you is to make sure alt isnt up before you press the delete button.

I am using T_mo 9700 with 5.0.0.330 and I am not having the SMS issue many of you guys are experiencing..it shows me the contact's name when they send me a SMS..I have not upgraded my OS yet.. But I will complain about T-mobile's 3G.. this is the first time I have experienced it and it is nothing special..also it keeps changing from 3G to EDGE to edge very frequently in my area (and I live in 5 min from downtown Atlanta I dont live in some farm town)..besides that, no complaints though

Posted by msweet Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

Everything seems to be working,... I'm new to BB so re-entering every login and password is a pain.

I got a new APP... Audio Postcard??? and the Voice Memo icon is gone... I have to launch it from a hard key.. ????

Posted by DanielVox Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

Yeah ... I noticed on the Blackberrys the 3G is not soo good. However when I had the Motorola Cliq it was a little faster with the 3G ... So I think it's a mix of T Mobile not having great 3G yet and the Phones. ?

Link to download OS says file removed.

Posted by KPMcClave Saturday, Dec 05, 2009 901 days ago

I have not been, on numerous attempts and a re-download of the file, able to get App Loader to recognize the updated OS. I have noticed after uninstalling and re-installing the 405 that the Vendor file, which I deleted the first time I tried to upgrade, is not being displayed anymore to be deleted. I have completely uninstalled the 405, rebooted and re-installed and still no Vendor file. Weird. I have the official 220 from TMO installed.

I would really like to use this version of the OS. Any suggestions? I have upgraded the OS on other BB's (most recently the 8900) many times and generally have no issues.

Any suggestions?

I downloaded .405 from all the different links posted in the last few posts and not a single version seems to install properly! I even went so far as to wipe my 9700 and manually launch Loader.exe to try and get the new OS installed, but the Loader just claims there is no device software installed on my computer... despite having it installed (and showing up in add/remove programs). What the heck is the problem? Can someone post a link to the same version of the software that was originally linked to by CB when they posted this news to the frontpage!

Make sure to remove the vendor file before installing the new OS on your computer!!!
