Leaked: OS 5.0.0.348 for the BlackBerry Curve 8520!

We saw OS 5.0.0.348 leak last week for the Bold 9000 and Curve 8900. This time it's the BlackBerry Curve 8520 that's getting some love. I can't wait for 5.0 to roll out officially for more devices.... it'll be happy times for many a BlackBerry user out there.

Any thoughts on this OS yet? I know it's early, but have any of the glaring issues from the previous leaked OS been addressed?

Also, someone please load this on RapidShare. MU is pissing me off with this *Downloads Exceeded* crap.

i guess they forgot about the tour and bumped to bottom of list we tour owners need some os love i see all these others coming out and wonder why no tour upgrade. well hope it comes out soon getting tired of seeing all these other phones getting it. lets get a tour petition going someone set it up,lol

The icons for BBm and Text have been fixed. Used to show the same for both, now BBM is the normal one and Text has a new look.

i would not install ??

i can see in my BlackBerry Desktop Manager 5.0.1 . . . but nothing . . . when i pick it it checks the software and then nothing happens ??

what is going on ??

This appears like a proper OS update. Very close to final. The selected icon lits up with a blue haze inside instead of just become shinier than other icons. Much better looking this way IMO.

Also, the call screen is a lot better now. Very many details available on it when a call is coming or you're making any.

Files icon is a nice cabinet now. New sms/mms icon with cell+speech bubble.

Search is a lot more robust now. Easy to operate.

Funny, I wrestled with rapidshare to get .238 (I think) on only to remove it and go back to 4.6 hours later. Then as soon as i get 4.6 on, I see the blog about the new .348. Loaded it on, now I really don't see the need to take my 8520 back for a 8900! Phone is great with no problems!

Thumbs up: Threaded SMS, picture browsing with trackpad (or with "n" and "p" if you so desire), more sound profile options like vibrate + tone at the same time and more volume controls.

Latest BBM froze a couple times. Needed to do a few battery pulls. Not a huge fan of having to choose contacts before being able to write anything on the SMS body after clicking "Compose SMS".

Some quirks.. like BBM asking for a spell check after I attach a picture or something. But I guess that's a more BBM thing than the OS.

love the new 5.0.

sms is now threaded. nice job.

only problem i find is even though you have 'delivery report OK' for sms, it does not say confirm delivery like the previous OS did. anyone have anything about how to fix this?

also, after set up, no BBM, so i have to download it again.

but besides this.. all good :)

I installed .238 on my 8520 last week Thursday and liked it a lot... Huge jump to 5.0. There were only a few things i noticed. Can anyone tell me if word mole works with this new leak? I purchased the 9700 on monday and gave the 8520 to my GF... She likes word mole so i need to find out how to get it back on that phone!

Dude, i´m going to upgrade today at night, as i have read so many great things about the new version, i just cant wait... I would suggest to make a full backup of your information thru the Desktop Manager Software, then you can proceed with upgrades. You can see full details on top of the webpage, with things like: How to upgrade, how to downgrade, how to revive you BB, etc, jajaj. Good luck!.
