Leaked: OS 4.7.1.53 for the BlackBerry Tour!

In case trackball issues and return rate statistics have you down about your BlackBerry Tour, a new operating system version has leaked for the device to take your mind off it. You can now download OS 4.7.1.53 and give it a whirl! If you do, be sure to report your findings in the forums!

the link is still working. could be you're not using megaupload right. go to the link, put in the 4 character captcha. from their, click the BUTTON for Regular download (don't click the url link again or it takes you back to the download page to put the captcha in).

I need an official 5.0 from Verizon. the waiting game is no bueno. Also, this won't fix my trackball problem. I love my phone so much... but the trackball problems will make it hard to enjoy any new OS releases.

That's no excuse; waiting for 5.0 to fix your trackball issue - its under warranty for a reason ... YOU CAN SEND IT BACK! They make warranties for things like that ...

I downloaded this software a couple of hours ago. Have been testing the bluetooth. Everyone that I spoke too said they had no problems and much improvement from the older software. Yes, I had the muffled sound and low volumne in the old software. I am using the Jawbone Prime as my bluetooth device.

guys, new to the posting thing, but have been a longtime follower of the site. I have been having some issues installing these new leaks. I managed to get the previous leaked 4.7, but this one doesnt get recognized by DM as an available update. anyone else having these issues? I have 4.7.1.42 on my Tour currently. thanks bigb

I had to remove the vendor file of course...and all my apps worked just like before and also the startup time seems the same to me. I did notice that when you go to pictures, the thumbnails load faster. I really don't use bluetooth so I can't say if it's better there or not...but it seems not much different than the .40 version...

If I notice anything new, I'll be back to tell you-

Guys, I've been running the upgrade for a full day and night. The only difference I've noticed is the increase in my application memory. I used to boot with 110MB with .40, but now am booting up with 123MB with .53!!

All in all, my TOUR appears to be faster and more responsive...yeah baby!

I am not seeing much different at this time and sadly enough no change in the TrackBall issue. There where some issues previously with background popups and alerts that I am still waiting to experience. Else all is well.

Weren't we supposed to be seeing OS 5.0 at around this time? I'm not interested in a small incremental release unless they aren't going to come through within the expected timeframe for OS 5.0 and they are looking at 2010 now.

If you are having trackball issues the firmware update will not fix it. I had that problem and finally called VZW. They will make you walk through a few steps (they even made my friend do a wipe of her Tour and see if the problem was still there), but they will send you a new unit. The trackball issue is completely fixed on my replacement unit and the Tour is so much better now.

Just to move left or right on my initial unit I had to set the horizontal rate to 90. Even then movement was difficult because when it did move it would move two or three icons over. No such issue, with horizontal rate at 70, on the replacement.
