Leaked: OS 4.6.1.133 for the BlackBerry Curve 8900
I know what I'm doing tomorrow morning... installing a new OS! Earlier today a new unofficial release of the BlackBerry Curve 8900's OS leaked and while not a ton of people yet even have a Curve 8900, from those who do the initial feedback on OS 4.6.1.133 sounds positive! A link to a slighty older version (4.6.1.120) was also found today.
Keep in mind this is NOT an official release, so install at your own risk and only if you're comfortable with doing so. If you've never installed an OS beta before be sure to dive into the CrackBerry forums and read all of our tutorials. Follow the links below for more information and to download! If you install, be sure to share your observations in the comments and in the forums!

Thanks! I'll pass this on to those who already bought an 8900 in the last few days. :)

Heyo! I'm running 4.6.1.94 on my 8900 and am totally happy with it. Does anyone know what the improvements are?
Thanks.

Did any other storm owners get really excited for no good reason?? Not cool Kevin. I mean, who has an 8900 anyway!? haha

Ok, another beta is released, but what is the difference between 4.6.1.94 and this one? IF it fixes the no word-wrap text-box issue, then I'll update. If anyone has done the update and you notice any difference, please post them!

From above - "IF it fixes the no word-wrap text-box issue, then I'll update"
Finally!- Someone else that has this problem!
Also the text in the text box is TINY!! (seems to bear no relation to your user defined font size settings)
Its been driving me totally nuts while trying to post on this and another VB forum!!!
I have been using Opera Mini (but I am a total OM fanboy already)
(I am going to PM you to correspond on this issue - please check your PMs)
Gahhh!

Oh come off it where are the updates for the 8350I. Each new device has seen 2 and 3 updates right after launch. I am on my 3rd 8350 all with similar issues we need an update RIM ! Now there is rumor of a recall of some 8350I's.

Any word on when Verizon will release a version of the Blackberry Curve 8900 ?

Being one of the few 8900 users, I was excited to see the news! I installed the update this morning and everything seems to be working fine, with the exception of SplashID, which has garbled all of my data (again). I think the battery life has improved, which is a big plus.

And then I had to uninstall it tonight. I wasn't getting any notification sounds for incoming mail, and I think I wasn't receiving all of my SMS. :( Too bad, since I was pleased with the battery life results. I didn't see any comments about similar problems in the forum, so it might just have been my bad luck. I'll try again with a future version.

I am going to remove this update today, although it has improved battery life, I am not getting any email notifications!!!!

hey i just checked rogers.com through my account and in the updates section for the 8900 they have an OS update available and it says that it is 4.6.1.158! I am going to install it tonight after work... hopefully it improves the battery life!

sorry i guess thats the whole update name... the os version included with this is still the .94 that came with my device... why do they use so many different names/numbers?! lol

I did the software update yesterday, and seeing a slight increase in battery life. But it's still way to early to tell.
But one thing I've noticed is that I can no longer send or recieve Blackberry Messanger events... could be rogers though...

jforce Jan 26, 2009 at 10:25 pm
.133 has worked great for me so far. The Wi-Fi connection is much more stable, ringtones are louder and everything else works great.

Can anyone upload it again somewhere and send me a link to kochnils@gmail.com?
Would be so great...
