Leaked: OS 4.6.0.234 for the BlackBerry Bold! Posted in BlackBerry OS on 04 Feb 2009 13:58 by Kevin Michaluk | Ahh.. the fun continues. Just went you're getting used to OS 4.6.0.228 (beta) on your BlackBerry Bold along comes an unofficial release of OS 4.6.0.234! The usual drill: Keep in mind this is NOT an official release, so install at your own risk and only if you're comfortable with doing so. If you have never installed an OS beta before be sure to dive into the CrackBerry forums and read all of our tutorials. Keep in mind that these leaked OS's sometimes take a step backwards in one area while making a leap forward in another. If you're on the fence, you're best off waiting until the next "official release" arrives. with some data. Follow the links below for more info, help and to download. Enjoy!!

Beta and official I'm confused
whats new in .228 compared to the last official release,
and whats new from .228 to .234
plus what are the reprecutions of downloading either beta.
like what are the known major bugs in either.
cause def i want to download but dont want to risk if i cant manage everday texting, email, calling, and browsing
But I downloaded .234 earlier today and installed it.. the install seemed to go much quicker then past updates. It has worked fine and all functionality on the Bold is fine. I have been texting all day and received numerous phone calls without any issue. Same with regular pushed email. I am honestly not sure what the upgrades are from this and .228.. maybe some bug fixes. I am not having any issues with Media or audio either.
Maybe someone can enlighten us as to the differences.
Hey wezra,
Is your carrier Rogers? Im still on .162 and was just wondering if it will wipe all the service books if I go ahead and update to .234 :S
not sure what the deal was but after installing .234 my email stopped working after a couple of hours. I had to work with both RIM and AT&T to get it back and running again. I ended up downgraded back to .228 and it began working fine again. Their must have been some kind of code error that invlidated my email account and would not allow me to re-register it from the phone or from at&t.blackberry.com. RIM wipped out the account and re-instated it on their end. AT&T did the same thing on their side. It was a huge hassle. That is one Beta I will never try again!
I think the bottom line is that it is fun to try these Beta "Leaks"... but it is always best to wait for the official release from the carrier.
It seems like every day theirs another leak....any one have any clue when the official release for the storm OS is coming and not just another beta leak thing.
I upgraded from .228 and my email functionality went completely nuts. I had to connect with RIM and have them reset my account and then I had to go over to AT&T and reset it again. A complete mess. I spoke with two RIM Tech Reps and they both said that something on the BB itself messed up my email account. I also called AT&T and they could find nothing wrong on their end. They said that RIM has gotten the email outtage behind them and everyone is receiving email as they should be.
Needless to say, I downgraded back to .228 from .234 and my email works fine now! I would stay away from .234 just in case their is a code problem where it invalidates your email account like it did mine.
I have had no problems at all. Works good to me.
Does anyone have a new (download) link for this update?
All the old ones don't seem to be working.
