Leaked: Facebook for BlackBerry v1.9.0.26

Bundled in with the Bold 9700 leak we saw yesterday some keen eyes found a newer version of Facebook. The app currently sits at 1.9.0.20 in App World, but the included version in the leak is 1.9.0.26. This is only a few clicks up version-wise, but hopefully has some minor improvements or bug fixes from the official version. The guys at MyBBOTA were kind enough to throw up a link so everyone can try it out. Personally I've had quite a few issues with not receiving notifications through the app the last few weeks, so maybe this will fix up my issue.
As a word of caution, don't install this if you aren't running OS 6. We're not sure how stable the app itself is, so be sure to backup your device before you give it a go :-)

can anyone confirm if this works with the torch... or is this only for the 9700 OS 6 at the moment?
edwardagyeman Jan 25, 2011 at 10:36 am
the torch is running OS6 so its safe to install it.

I've had a ton of issues with not getting notifications lately too. So much that I re-installed Facebook on my Curve 8530 thinking the app itself had gotten hosed. Things seem to be working better now, but it still makes me nervous.
akers_ Jan 26, 2011 at 2:25 am
Had this problem too on my 9700 with OS6. Re-installed and everything worked fine too.
Inka Jan 25, 2011 at 10:36 am

j.goncalves Jan 25, 2011 at 10:36 am
I am downloading to my Torch... Fingers Crossed! hahah
Deathcommand Jan 25, 2011 at 10:36 am
So...
Why does it only work on OS6.?
motoroid7 Jan 25, 2011 at 10:37 am
I'm hoping that's an old FB for BlackBerry picture. I noticed it doesn't have places in the pic :P
Adam Zeis Jan 25, 2011 at 10:42 am
Changed up the image - didn't realize it was an older version. Thanks for the heads up!
teufel_hunden_ Jan 25, 2011 at 12:32 pm
Adam - I don't know if someone mentioned to you already, but there is a newer version of Twitter as well.
dasserule79 Jan 25, 2011 at 2:13 pm
Yeah... Where's the ota link??
CocoaBlossom Jan 25, 2011 at 3:58 pm
I'm more interested in the Twitter update than the Facebook one.
Boodaataa Jan 25, 2011 at 10:38 am
The OTA link is not working for me.
j.goncalves Jan 25, 2011 at 10:39 am
I downloaded it, and it installed... Just rebooting my torch now!! :D gaahhh!! I hope this fixes the damn notifications
j.goncalves Jan 25, 2011 at 10:44 am
Its working! :D looks the EXACT same thou....
tedescop Jan 25, 2011 at 10:44 am
I too hope this fixes the notification issue. I did notice that I can set notifications to my preference and works fine until I do a battery pull. Then it resets to defaults. Highly ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!
goldtoy01 Jan 25, 2011 at 11:18 am
To all that are having notification problems on Facebook. Log out of Facebook and log back in BUT you will need to retype your email entirely and password. DO NOT select/hit/choose the drop down suggested email. It work for me and now have FB notification. You also can check your (sounds/edit profiles/your sound profile being used/other) and make sure Facebook is list there. If it is not than you will not receive notifications.
tedescop Jan 25, 2011 at 12:19 pm
Thanks for the advice but no luck still the same problem after a battery pull it reverts back to the factory settings.
FatSajak Jan 25, 2011 at 10:45 am
I loaded this last night on my 9670. I haven't noticed anything different from the previous release. I also wasn't having any trouble receiving notifications with the previous release which could be why I'm not noticing anything new.
j.goncalves Jan 25, 2011 at 10:48 am
GAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I GOT NOTIFICATIONS!!! woooooohoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
steviebigv Jan 25, 2011 at 10:52 am
I downloaded and installed it on my Torch....seems stable and working fine...don't really see any changes right now but will play around with it and repost.
WizKid3 Jan 25, 2011 at 10:57 am
I haven't received a notification from Facebook since I updated to 0S6, so hopefully this will fix that issue. DLing now
i.minimalistic Jan 25, 2011 at 10:58 am

mohawk apple Jan 25, 2011 at 11:07 am

THE DARKER Jan 25, 2011 at 11:24 am

FoxxBerry Jan 25, 2011 at 11:25 am
how download it?
mcdazzle Jan 25, 2011 at 11:27 am
Every time I try to post pictures to Facebook directly from the picture, it freezes my BB! I have to pull the battery off and re-boot. Hopefully this fixes that!
jabbs1 Jan 25, 2011 at 11:28 am
Anyone using OS5 tried this yet?
luqman24 Jan 25, 2011 at 11:29 am
I guess this supposed to fix the notification issue since that's all that been noticed. Oh yeah, in the "Inbox" tab, the scrolling is smooth now.
sc0ob5 Feb 6, 2011 at 7:58 pm
Scrolling is not working fine for me on my 9700. Sometimes the selection disappears then you have to move left or right on the track pad and it jumps down or up like 15 posts. Same as the previous version.
1magine Jan 25, 2011 at 11:30 am
does not seem to work on 0S5 Storm 2.
visualpurple Jan 25, 2011 at 11:33 am
I won't be updating my Facebook app to v1.9.xx until they fix the "feature" where deleting a FB notification in the Messages app deletes the actual message on Facebook.
JosephN Jan 25, 2011 at 11:40 am
It seem like my notifications are comming quicker too
netviper Jan 25, 2011 at 11:44 am
No Chat, No Thanks. Why do we have the worst FB client of all platforms?
ryny24 Jan 25, 2011 at 12:10 pm
Yes! Finally able to delete fb entries in my messages list. Thank you gods of facebook/blackberry!
shetach Jan 25, 2011 at 12:25 pm
My messages have been showing up twice in messages app for 2 months. With this new version, the doubles are gone. Hopefully will stay that way
infidelis Jan 25, 2011 at 1:12 pm
cool. so i'm not the only one. keeping my fingers crossed...
dasserule79 Jan 25, 2011 at 2:01 pm
Me also have the same problem... Hope this will fix it... Before, I always have to make the quick pull to clear the doublesome...
shetach Jan 26, 2011 at 10:43 am
Just rebooted and my doubles are all back.
thoughthalo Jan 25, 2011 at 1:53 pm
Got Error 100 - Cannot contact Facebook error after installing this app on my Torch. Downgraded back to the official version.. :(
Any ideas why i received this error. Tried everything including a few battery pulls...
xtremesniper Jan 25, 2011 at 2:31 pm
Does this still delete messages from your FB inbox when you delete them from your BB messages list?
T305 Jan 25, 2011 at 3:10 pm
Tested it out seems a little faster!!!...
nextgates Jan 25, 2011 at 3:29 pm

CocoaBlossom Jan 25, 2011 at 3:56 pm
Can't download, and don't know why.
nyslayer Jan 25, 2011 at 5:11 pm
Does anyone know if this will work on the 9630?
iamjohnnytrox Jan 25, 2011 at 6:12 pm
Does this fix the memory leak for anyone?
hellzajoan Jan 25, 2011 at 6:31 pm
I downloaded the leak version on my Verizon Blackberry Tour 9630 and now I can't find Facebook anywhere! I've deleted and reinstalled it and now I'm not sure where it went. Any ideas on how I can get it back?
wyldemf Jan 25, 2011 at 6:41 pm
Downloaded it, says it installed, but I can't find it anywhere.
monstermetal Jan 25, 2011 at 7:22 pm
Same thing with FB on my end, it installed fine, cant seem to locate it...
sg4real76 Jan 25, 2011 at 6:53 pm

sg4real76 Jan 25, 2011 at 6:55 pm
bad facebook :(
Dankees Jan 25, 2011 at 6:54 pm
I downloaded it - where the hell is it on my Storm?
hellzajoan Jan 25, 2011 at 7:16 pm
Since you guys have it downloaded on your Tour, did your icon disappear? I tried downloading the older official version, but it's still no where to be found. Have any ideas on how to get it back?
RegN Jan 25, 2011 at 7:27 pm
I installed it on my 9780 and it seems to work well. The one thing I noticed that was fixed is the scrolling. does not jump like it used to. can just smoothly scroll down the page.
monstermetal Jan 25, 2011 at 8:40 pm
UPDATE:
on my storm 953(v5.0.0.1041 with Telus)
The FB icon is still nowhere to be found. Actually there r absolutely no files associated with FB in the phone even though it says it was installed properly... ,i cant find the MODULE net_rim_bb_facebook files
When i go to App world to install the older version, it yet detects a newer version exists!!! so Ive kept looking, so under OPTIONS> APPLICATIONS > ADD-ON tab, it shows up , and when i do click on the FB application properties, BOOM, the MODULE net_rim_bb_facebook are shown.....So, now im stumped right now... still searching
monstermetal Jan 25, 2011 at 8:45 pm
im noticing in the FACEBOOK Applications properties(OPTIONS> APPLICATIONS > ADD-ON tab), under Description: it says... Leaked Facebook in 9700 OS 6.0.0.448... hmmmmm i guess this wont work for my Storm 9530... oh well..
Ahowe125 Jan 25, 2011 at 10:57 pm
After backing up my Storm2 9550 with the official Verizon v5.0.0.713, I decided to see if this would work. It downloaded and installed fine, but like a few other users... The program Icon was no where to be found. Not on the home menu, and not in any other folders. It does show the program installed in the "add-on" section of applications, but I have not found a way to access it yet.
I think for now I'll be restoring back to my saved backup and hoping that a new facebook client is released for us 5.0 users soon. I haven't received any notifications since upgrading to that last software.
anderl72 Jan 26, 2011 at 1:27 am
Guys, the leak is for the 97xx and not for a Storm touchscreen device !!!
Ahowe125 Jan 26, 2011 at 8:36 pm
We knew this installing it, But with how broken our current Facebook is, why not give it a try. Sounds like it still has problems even on the OS6 devices anyway.
NSheld Jan 26, 2011 at 4:20 am
Works fine on my torch.
I use Blogberry theme and it has a quicklaunch to FB on the front, so I never looked for the icon.
EDIT: Just checked, the icon is there too.
Haven't noticed much difference apart from the email lessages within the FB app seem to be better laid out graphics wise and are smoother.
With regards to notifications... They really haven't changed. Still not getting ALL of them.
davidliew Jan 26, 2011 at 4:37 am
For me...it do seem fixed the bug or problem that our message will become multiply copy and can't delete problem...U know? the official release do have this problem, fb msg in our inbox after use for while or sometime cost by slow data will have two copy of the same msg, that one u can't delete or you may have to force stop allow fb to integrate into your inbox or it will totally mess up your inbox? this version seem do not have that problem.
Ya, we all HATE that delete msg thingy that will delete our original fb inbox too, it cost me lost LOT of msg too, this RIM should allow us to disable it.
IAmAmirHasan Jan 26, 2011 at 2:34 pm
Also having notification problems on my 8530. After restarts it works, but soon thereafter I stop getting notifications. I noticed that when I go to do a search on my BlackBerry Facebook will be missing from there as well.
simonhen Jan 26, 2011 at 3:02 pm
My first impression using this new version on the 9700 is it solves an annoying scrolling problem. On earlier versions it was easy to lose the cursor/highlighter when scrolling down the news feed (making click-through difficult). That's been fixed -- well done!
victoriak68 Jan 26, 2011 at 11:53 pm
That bites, they make a new version but only for OS6? Doesn't matter to me that it's not official, still not cool that they ignore OS5 users. I have a Storm2 9500 running OS version 5.0.0.1015. Current FB version now installed on my device is a joke, it's not just OS6 users that are having problems. I'm also having notification issues and messages not deleting from my message list. Seriously need a FB upgrade that includes more features. Chat would be nice, but I'd like to see who "liked" stuff and be able to share something I discovered within FB.
Wbrian Jan 30, 2011 at 12:55 pm
I can't get it to install on my torch. It goes through the whole install then I get an error message saying "install cancelled". Weird. I just upgraded from the original version to the most recent official version and lost my icon for sending pictures to FB. I was hoping this version added it back...
cayman2010 Jan 31, 2011 at 9:05 pm
Is this download link OTA?
retrovirus Feb 5, 2011 at 1:05 am
I've downloaded this on my fone but the interface doesn't look exactly like the one it shows on the download page. I mean the picture in this link http://mybbota.com/download.php?id=6183
