Sideloaders rejoice! Another leaked version of the Android runtime has turned up in the CrackBerry forums and as expected, this one removed the perma-bar from Android apps. With this installed you'll now have the option to show or hide the navigation bar which is awesome news.

Aside from that it does sound like it speeds things up a tiny bit and offers better performance, but we wouldn't expect too much else.

This one is available for all BlackBerry 10 devices running OS 10.2 and the only catch is that you'll need to use the debug token method for any sideloaded apps. If you're ready to give it a go, head to the forums for more details and download links.

Leaked Android Jelly Bean (4.2.2) runtime without permanent bar

YES! Looks like I have more non-work work to do at work this afternoon!
...but it isn't an unlocked run time? darn! I'll still give it a go though!

Oh man I have no idea how to work it :( I even still use the old Instagram versión since I can't figure out the debug method

That's great. I can't my previous (old version) to work after a sideload. It's telling me to get a new version. However, I guess I need to run the above install.

Nobody answered your prays. Blackberry listened to feedback. Give credit where it's due and let's compliment Blackberry for once.

To get most apps working. One 10.2 it's the same case. You need debug to get apps working because blackberry has restrictions on the runtime

That's simply not true. If you use signed apps (like the tool provides), you don't need a debug token at all.

READ THE ARTICLE!!! "This one is available for all BlackBerry 10 devices running OS 10.2 and the only catch is that you'll need to use the debug token method for any sideloaded apps"

My gosh, people don't read through anymore....

I'm curious, do you have to uninstall and reinstall android apps when you do this kind of runtime replacement? My assumption is no, but I've been wrong many times before.

I believe (but somebody correct me if I am wrong) that you can just over write. But I too have been wrong!

Great but I prefer not to renew tokens over hiding the bar will wait a and see.

Awesome. Keep the faith!!! BB listened and addressed the permanent bar complaints and provided a choice. Perhaps, they'll hear our Squircle'n demands too.

What is a squircle? I've seen this term all over CB but have no idea what it's referring to.

Okayyy, it's not "unlocked"... is it a higher version than the leaked "unlocked" version?

Z10 BlackBerry till I die!

Why are people tripping out about a locked runtime? It takes 2min tops to get a debug token and you only have to do it once.

Only have to do it once? But it needs refreshing every 30 days. Unless you use some other method that let's it work for a year. I am somewhat tech savvy, but the debug has been a bit tricky for me. I've gotten, used it, it shows there, then it's not. So not that simple for all of us. The unlocked runtime is working for me fine. I can wait until a newer unlocked with hide bar option comes. Don't tell me it won't, as even some of the 'all knowing' here said "the bar is here to stay" but I didn't believe that for a second. And as much as don't care about the Squircle, that could even make a comeback, or hopefully something even better.

Can't they just make apk files run on Blackberry 10 without side loading? Or convert them to bar files on the fly? This kind of stubbornness is what is killing the company.

Legality issues. That's why you've never ever heard BlackBerry tell us that we can sideload Android applications.

Thanks for this!! Even though I barely have any side loaded apps since I've deleted instagram but would be nice if the kijiji keyboard is fixed

I'm lost when it comes to side loading and debugging tokens. they show up on my Zed10 but go to open them and they crash.

I installed this Runtime update, and installed a new debug token, restarted my Z10, opened a ported Android app, and there is still a bar at the bottom. I uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app .bar file, and there is still a bar at the bottom. Am I missing something here?

Nevermind. I figured it out. You need to swipe from the top from within the app then click 'hide' to hide the bar. Pretty cool. Okay - I'm happy again.

Oh jeez, I'll have to renew my token. Not sure it is going to be worth it yet. Sadly, not sure what's worse; having to debug or having a slightly older runtime with a permanent bar at the bottom.

At this point I think I'm going to stick with unlocked, just to save time until the next leak. I'll have to wipe anyway, so next time I will start from scratch.

Sigh.... really want the bar to be able to be hidden too.

Even with unlocked runtime I still used debug token lol so no worries here

Skipping this one since the bar doesn't really bother me.....I'm happy for all you Q10 people, though!

Loving the unlocked runtime, but thanks for posting this. The bar doesn't bother me enough to have to deal with debug tokens

Adam, you need to adjust the last paragraph of your post. This runtime will work without a debug token, and only select apps that require certain permissions require a debug token for those permissions.

Been waiting for this! Android apps on my Q10 are almost pointless with that stupid bar. Thank goodness for the BerryLeaks team! Never did the debug token, but I'll give it a whirl tonight.

Tired of leaked OS's and such. I want the official 10.2 OS. I swear some of you would rob someone's house if it was leaked that their doors were unlocked.

Posted via CB10 on my Z10

But I have the unlocked runtime. Y do I need the debug token? Does this run time override the unlocked runtime?

From my Z10 A.K.A knight Rider.

Using a z10 and the benefit of having the bar outweighs the need to get the debug token. I'll pass.

When I install there, some games still said no debug token installed. Do I need debug token to install games while the running time files installed already?

Posted via CB10

Didn't even use debug token and it worked! used the DDPB app which side loaded the bar files, rebooted opened a android app it took couple seconds to install after that android app opens swipe and hide bottom bar ;)

Would it be possible to install the unlocked version to get the apps, and then install this android bar version right after?

For those of us that help others and like to side-load a few apps for them, the Debug Token stuff is too much.

Anyone get these to work side loaded with or without a token?
