Kik for BlackBerry v5.2.3 improves performance and battery life

Kik for BlackBerry

If you use the messaging app Kik for BlackBerry, you will be happy to learn that it has received an update. The new release is said to dramatically improve Kik's performance and battery usage, so if you frequently use the app you will want to be sure to grab the update. This can be done from within the app. Simply go to Settings in the menu, then choose "Help & About Us". Select "Check for Updates" and install from there. If you don't currently use Kik and would like to download it, you can do so at the link below.

Would love to be able to add a photo to a conversation like you can on Kik in other platforms. Anyone know how to do this on BB? Also don't like how it has to be reconfigured after each reset.

It simply doesn't allow you to access the camera. Kik for BB has very limited functionality compared to the Android and iPhone apps.

Does this update have better notification controls? My wife tried the last version and there was no useful way of making the notification loud enough or changing the sound on her 9800. I am now on Android (Motorola Atrix 2) and we miss BBM most. If Kik is better with notifications on BB, this would be great.

And for that matter, why does Kik not go through the BB notifications settings like all other apps? That is maddening.

RIM will not allow it to go through the notifications settings like other apps as they consider it a threat to their BBM service.

That is too bad. My wife would stay on BB if that notification would change. I am on Android now and can't see myself going back. She'll be leaving in June for an Android or an iPhone unless Kik messenger gets good notifications on BB.

Why doesn't KIK install on my BB curve 8520. Says' has an insecure signature and when I continue it starts halfway and gets stuck. Someone help me.

Can't install KIK messenger on my Bold 9780. Keep getting the "907 Invalid JAD" error, also when I try to download it with my WiFi on and my cell off.
