India Sidesteps BlackBerry Ban

All is happy in India once again. For now. In an interview today, India's telecommunications secretary Siddhartha Behura commented:

“There is no question of banning at this point.”

Behura then went on to assure everyone the government is working out the issues with the four
mobile service providers and RIM executives.

The BlackBerry is distributed in India by Reliance Communications, BPL Mobile, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar. Representatives from each are slated to meet Friday evening to further resolve any outstanding issues.

I wouldn't say things are out of the water yet... But it certainly looks like constructive dialog and negotiation are taking place to resolve the issues in a timely manner.
