The BlackBerry Hub app for Android has been updated on a regular basis the past few months and with each update, new features are added. In the latest update, the Hub Widget has been added. It allows you to add one of three views to your homescreen. If you also use the BlackBerry Launcher, then you can use the Hub popup widget to see another view, and be on top of your messages.

This article will help get you set up with the BlackBerry Hub widget on Android. Now that BlackBerry Hub is available for all Android smartphones — running Android Lollipop and Marshmallow — this tutorial can apply to non-BlackBerry Android phones too.

Please note: this article assumes that you are already a BlackBerry Hub user be it on Android devices by BlackBerry or any other manufacturer.

How to set up the BlackBerry Hub widget on Android

  1. Tap and hold on a blank area on the homescreen.
  2. Tap on Widgets when the option appears. Add BlackBerry Hub Widget Step 2

  3. Add BlackBerry Hub Widget Step 3
Scroll down until you see the Hub widget, then tap and hold it to add it to your homescreen. Add it to a new homescreen view.
  4. The Select a view window will appear. Choose the account or view you want to see on the Hub widget. Add BlackBerry Hub Widget Step 4

  5. Add BlackBerry Hub Widget Step 5
Adjust the widget to the size you want by tapping and holding the widget until a white square appears around the widget.
  6. Add BlackBerry Hub Widget Step 6
Drag the small circles to adjust the widget to your preferred size.
  7. The BlackBerry Hub is now added to your homescreen.

If you want to give it a bit of a BlackBerry 10 feel, it's best to make the widget fill the maximum space it can at step 6 above. Then follow the steps below.

  1. Tap and hold on a blank area of the screen.
  2. Swipe across to the Hub view, tap and hold it and drag it all the way to the left.
  3. Tap anywhere to set it in place.

Now when you're viewing your main homescreen, you can just swipe left to get to the Hub widget and view your messages. If you want to go even further, you can make the Hub widget view the default homescreen so that every time you tap the Home 'button' it will take you straight to the Hub widget. Follow the steps below to do that.

  1. Tap and hold on a blank area of the homescreen.
  2. Swipe across to the Hub widget view, then tap the house icon above it. It should turn into a white circle with a house icon on it.
  3. When you double tap the home button it will take you straight to the Hub widget screen.

There you have it. You're all set with the BlackBerry Hub widget. You can have a watch of the video above to see how it's done too. Have you already set up the Hub widget on your device, if so how are you liking it?
