Instagram has to be the biggest photo sharing/social media app out there at the moment. Although we don't have a native BlackBerry 10 version yet, thanks to OS 10.2.1 it's real easy to install Instagram on your BlackBerry Z3.

You may notice in the image above that I used my Z30 for the photo. The only reason I did this is that getting Instagram onto your Z3 is done just the same with all other BlackBerry 10 handsets.

I find that using the third party Android APK store Snap is easiest. If you're new to BlackBerry 10 check out how to get it installed here.

Once Snap is installed just follow these simple steps:

  • Open Snap and perform a search for Instagram

  • Press the 'Download' tab at the top of the display

  • Select 'Open Installer'

  • Press 'Install' and you're done.

You'll need to accept the app permissions and as it's an Android app you don't have the choice to un-check any, unlike with native BlackBerry 10 ones. However, with Instagram then installed you can take photos, alter them with filters etc and share via your social networks.

And with Snap then on your BlackBerry Z3 you can browse as many Android apps and games as you desire.

Yep same here. The only thing that sucks with Instagram on bb10 is that you can't get notifications until you open the app.

It sucks that you have to do so much just download an app.... The average phone user wouldn't even know where to start.

Posted via CB10

BlackBerry is for freaks and not for the average phone user :) The average phone user likes it easy, that's why Apple, Android etc have success an Blackberry not.

RedBerry Z10 #00167  OS10.2.1.3175

Yes, but this is the only thing in OS 10, that average user would have some troubles. I think everything else is easy in BlackBerry 10. Maybe I have forgotten one or two things more... but anyway :)

... to remove mobile malware. That's why we recommend BB10!

:-)

For real, that installation process is not all too hard, but opinions may differ

"No Q10?" -> "Buy from Chen... "

It's a once off. Have a friend that's tech savvy do it, once snap is on your phone it's there for you to use just like BB world, except non native.

+1 true
And after doing so much the App is just 80% and full of bugs..... Annoying!!!!!!

Posted via CB10

Yeah, but James gets more mileage this way - recycling and repackaging. He should just have a section on CB for 'Noobie Zone'.

I guess you guys are missing the point. This site does have new users too. Since the Z3 is the newest handheld it is possible that the new user has a Z3. This user (being new) doesn't know that he can search up instructions on how to install this on a z10 or z30 etc... This is why the article is new and says Z3. Maybe that helps.

Posted via CB10

Except a Z3 user lives in Indonesia and most Indonesians don't speak English. That may be the real fundamental flaw here. There's no audience.

Um, because we like BB, but want the OFFICIAL apps, and a beauty of BB is that we can have the best of both worlds. The newest version of the OFFICIAL Instagram is very good.

I don't know your talking about I tried this ig and I don't see anything it does that I can't do with igrann except ig direct, which I tried and it didn't seem anyone got them. Video upload does not work either.

Posted via CB10

The reason why is the brand name Instagram is what people want. The few people here on CrackBerry that only want native apps are not representative of the real world.

Nor really iGrann lacks the filter, lacks the photo editing features as seen in v6.0, lacks video record and upload, lacks IG direct, lacks Instamessage

So no, it's really not better.

Posted via CB10

Yeah but effetica has waaay better photo editing. Just edit your photo with that before uploading and people will ask how you did it.

Posted via CB10

Huge thanks for the introduction to Effectica!! Had no idea such an amazing app was just a few clicks & swipes away!!

Why isn't anyone questioning the fact that their posting news articles to specific devices that are standard across the board for all bb10 phones? A waste of time

Posted via CB10

Or use "1 Mobile Market " use your browser to goto the Internet site download apk file and install. You don't have to side load 1 mobile market like you have to with snap

Posted via CB10

For those that question why? It's been explained many times already but the answer is to properly populate search engine hits. If someone puts Instagram and Z3 in a search, this article should appear. Otherwise those seeking help might never get here to browse around and see what other great stuff can be done that is common on most BB10 devices.

Because if people learn to do this very simple task, it will help them understand more about their BlackBerry and they will then get better use with their device. Anyone can find a link.

The biggest part of this procedure is installing snap, and that part is not even covered! Just a 'click here'.....
Maybe some new Z3 owner will skip this because they don't need instagram, therefore missing the vital part about snap.

Seems a bit silly to me

I'm sure the new instigram is cool.. but I hate not having the dark theme. But I also don't care to upload videos so I'm not at a loss.

Posted via CB10

Pretty good point, I'm not sure people are getting the idea that are so many different types of users out there, some just want a simple viewer with the ability to upload basic every once and a while, while others might want a full on everything including the kitchen sink type of app. Igrann is probably perfect for some just as Instagram is perfect for others. Why turn it into you should go android then or your against BlackBerry etc. Bb10 is awesome for the fact that we have a choice if we want to add the occasional android port. Just saying...

Posted via CB10

As much as I hate to agree with them I actually like iGrann. It's smooth and fast and is snappy. Just wish the developers would add the latest features.

Posted via my Z30

I understand the Google thing and all with these posts, but at least post a picture of the device in question. It makes it all a bit more digestible.

Support iGrann native BlackBerry app. Build for BlackBerry.

Please stop promote android port app

Cb not support BlackBerry dev

Go get instagram from 1Mobile. No need to do side loading. Not sure why CrackBerrry keeps promoting Snap?

Posted via CB10

I can't wait for the next BB10 phone... It's going to be cool to have aaaaaaall these "How to" for an tenth time...

Lol how can you possibly say that SNAP is the easiest when it requires sideloading??
You can download any Android app by going to the 1Mobile website, you don't even have to install their app store app. I'd say that much easier, especially for a new user who may not be to tech savvy , no sideloading needed.

Posted via CB10

The thing about Snap is it uses/pulls from the offical Google Play Store so the apps are verified, most official versions where as some of the third party sites sometimes have older, possibly sketchy &/or infected, versions,

All you have to do is read the reviews...unless someone is clueless and just downloads anything.

Correct me if I'm wrong here guys but this post is about how to get Instagram of your Z3 right so why is there a image of a Z30? Shouldn't a Z3 be used to demonstrate this?

Send from the amazing powers of the  Z30

I went to Indonesian Cellular Show(the event where vendors/distributors showcase all the smartphones available in Indonesia, they usually give a good deal on the show) 2014 today.
"There is no stocks for Z3" was the reply I got from the salesperson.
they have the dummy Z3 case, though.
How did this happen? This is a great event to sell Z3, yet products are not available.
I hope Kevin can ask Chen what is going on.

It happens because CB is engineer centric... they like designing / releasing new variants of phones.. marketing? Not so much.

The process to download Snap is just too long for me. I just use apktrain to search for any Android app I need. Was able to update Instagram this way too. Seems easier to me *shrug*.

Posted via CB10 on Blackberry Q5

I have a problem to install game from snap... called "clumsy ninja"... the size of this game is about 88.94mb... but when I start to download it... the download size is changed to 12.86mb... and once it's done to install... I open it... and the game is blank... did anybody have the same problem?

Posted via CB10

We have a native client so we do have an Instagram app just not from Instagram check out iGrann my friends

I got an Android device S4 from my Company. I use to download the apps into it from the Play Store and then, through a simple application called APK Share, i pass the apk files to my Z10 by bluetooth. Too easy way!

Get all those popular Apps from Android and IOS, make it a BB10 App or improve all the bugs we getting from the APK or BAR downloads. I love BlackBerry device but it's like driving Ferrari without Stereo system or Power seats!!!!!

Snap and 1 Mobile all suck and have bugs all over. The Apps downloaded from Snap or 1 Mobile is f..king annoying, it's either the resolution off, setting off, it could be use but is only 80% completed and very very very very very very very very very very annoying when use........:c

I think in my opinion for BlackBerry to success and have a chance be competitive once again is improve improve improve x 1000000 times on there App. To point out something very true is that BlackBerry devices were biggest in the market share once because people was able to use Push mails and BBM. Later on IOS try many IM and fails and finally came up with Whats App and also able to use push Mails everyone start to give up BlackBerry devices and the starts of BlackBerry downfall begins.....
