How to get Instagram working again on your BlackBerry Z10!

The road to Instagram for BlackBerry users has been a rocky one, to say the least. First we didn't have the app at all, then we were able to sideload an Android port that worked fairly well, though there were some bugs, then the Android app stopped working for mysterious reasons and we were left in the cold again. Today we received an email on the ol' CrackBerry tip line with a quick work around that will allow you to sign in to that sideloaded version once again so you can get back to happily filtering and sharing with all your friends.

The steps are as follows:

Open up Instagram (assuming you have it installed already)
Tap the log in button
Tap "Forgot Password" and choose to reset it with Facebook
Log in via Facebook and choose a new password
Tada! You're now signed in to Instagram!

Keep in mind that if you uninstall the app or sign out, you will have to repeat the process above to get signed back in. Once you're in though, the app will function normally, or as normally as this version has in the past with its quirks and bugs. Keep in mind, your Instagram account must be linked to your Facebook account already in order for this to work. All in all, I'm happy with this solution until we get real Instagram on BlackBerry 10!

For anyone with the error message. You must link your instagram account to your Facebook account. Use your old Iphone or old android device to link instagram to your Facebook account. Once linked with a Iphone or andriod. Then use your bbz10, and click the instagram icon that, you have slide loaded onto your bbz10. Then click log in, choose forget password. Then choose reset password with Facebook. Now, you'll be able to log into instagram.

You must link your instagram account to your Facebook account. Otherwise you'll get a error message. Use your old Iphone or old android device to link instagram to your Facebook account. I'm really confused - I have been "BlackBerry evangelizing" the people around me about BlackBerry 10 but I'm still confused if we're ever gonna have Instagram. The benchmark for a mobile device isn't Angry Birds or Plants vs. Zombies anymore, it's Instagram (although I dont care about this app).

I really don't understand why people are hungered for Instagram. I'm currently an iPhone user and Instagram user but need to wait for 2 more months for contract due for hardware upgrade. Of course, I am heading for Z10 in 2 months. Since my iPhone doesn't have any cool feature for photo editing so I need Instagram to fill the gap. However, with the better editing features that Z10 has already had in its built-in camera, which is way cooler than Instagram. There is no reason we bother getting Instagram or not.

instagram is not only photo editing its a user based social network app where you can see your friends pics on there trip or event things like that, i say its basically a twitter photo app so thats why ppl want it as i have friends that i follow and i see what they've been up too literally see so its more then just photo editing.

Thanks for your input. I know exactly what Instagram is. I have been using it for a considerable period of time so I know it is a little bit more than photo editing, thus a user-based social network app. I don't have a real Z10 on hands yet but I tried the demo phone at certain stores and found out that from a photo-editing respective, Z10's photo editing (filtering) does a lot more Instagram can offer. Only two (Lo-Fi & Kelvin) out of the 20 editing options in Instagram are useful, personally regarding everthing else is useless.
This is my 2c as an alternative in case Instagram never makes a native app for BB10, we can edit pictures first then share them right to Facebook rather than using a separate apps to do the same thing. If they don't support BB10, why should we support them?

I don't know what instagram is or care about it but all the kids seem to be all up on it, so when I'm marketing for BB10 I get a lot of instagram questions.. and not quite sure how to answer. Some are willing to switch only IF we get instagram. That horse ass of a developer should pull himself together and sort a version out for bb10 and stop all those people moaning.

I'm still astounded this app, with which my only familiarity stems from the attention it gets in forums, still gets so much attention.

I have yet to have any of my BlackBerry or non BlackBerry buds ask me if I use it. I asked a few if they had heard of it and they each said no.

I would almost ask fallaciously if this app really exists but I am not (yet) that far gone...

I don't really see what the big fuss over instragram is about either. Most people I know as well as celebs also post the same posts and pics on Twitter also (that's where I see IG pics), and people who are really into social media are usually on both.. Sure, you can't comment on IG posted pics w/o the app. It seems crazy that people would actually pass up a great phone platform like BB10 based on the availability or not of IG. The app would gain a lot more fans if the developer helped bring a proper version to BB10 as opposed to a sideloaded Android app so there must be some contractural reason why this isn't so.

Now, Skype is a different story.. ;-)

I'm using the app which was provided in the above steps and after completed the steps I get an ERROR: Your version of Instagram is out of date. Please upgrade your app in the Play Store to log in to Instagram. Is there an updated .bar file I can use?

It just defines the increase in the pool of users that might consider the phone. I know first hand what happened to my BBM contact list when BB didn't release devices with things that were considered a norm on other platforms. i.e Front facing camera, Angry birds (at the time) and quick web-browsing just to name a few. Now we have caught up, now all we need is to finish the job and stick to what other platform users consider "the new basics".

Exactly what I say neends to happen for BlackBerry with this new wave of OS and devices. I went from literally 40 people on BBm to 1. Yes, ONE! Every person snatched an iphone and droid. ;-(

I have 9, thanks to the ability to add regular phone numbers and receive texts via "BBM". 8 of them are text message contacts. LoL, we are even bro. I wish I was lying too. The last contact to leave my BBM list didn't even wait for the S4, he bought the S3 a few weeks ago.

Instagram, Netflix, Skype and the rest of them can go to hell. The z10 is so much more than those useless apps. The Hub alone trumps all. Really what does anyone have a cell for. To communicate. Nothing comes close to BB10 in that department. If you are that bent on instagram, surrender your BlackBerry and go get an iphone. But you will soon miss the hub.

For all those who don't "get" Instagram, face it, it's one of those Halo apps that gives credibility to the platform. Having Instagram on board will definitely boost sales of devices, and thus encourage development. We are better off having the option of installing the apps than not.

I've never used this application on any platform ... I don't even know what benefit it brings to me or to the masses to be honest. What does it offer, really, more than any other photo augmentation app or flickr?

When and if it comes to BB10 I'm highly doubtful I'll use it.

Sad & embarrassing is all the people who want something but can't bother using information provided in this thread, with more throughout Crackberry, and of course the most helpful tool, Google. Side loading isn't difficult, nor are work arounds for issues such as this Instagram one (and just why did you log out of Instagram anyway, you password your BlackBerry don't you?).

Worked for me on the first try. Thank God for this fix. Just did a security wipe today and lost the instagram sign in to get rid of some damn setting that an android app called BatteryXL put on my phone and caused some apps to not work with network data anymore and only on Wifi like flipboard, Scope app and BBC News.

I tap "Reset using facebook" and get "Sorry, we couldn't complete your request. Please try again in a moment." on my Z10. - I do this same process on instagram on my Android and it loads the login screen for facebook after tapping "reset using facebook". Do I need to be running a "sideloaded" facebook version for this fix to work? **UPDATE** -> I posted a solution to this down below:

I'm guessing those who have gotten this to work had Instagram prior on a different Device or made their account using their Facebook information. This along with a number of other things is it working for me.

For those that do not have Instagram connected to a facebook, you can go in and connect them, however it does require using a an iOS or android device.

I know this may be a long process, but it works to get to the end result.

You can follow the instructions here to connect instagram and facebook: http://smartphones.wonderhowto.com/how-to/really-connect-your-instagram-...

After connecting the two, I logged into instragram (regularly) on my android device and selected one of my pics and hit the "share" button. Then i asked it to share to facebook. Once you do that, it initiates the full link between instagram and facebook, then you can try the reset password login (using the steps in this article). **Note: if you have received the "Sorry, ..." error, you'll need to delete and re-sideload instagram before it will work.

Hmm.
I connected them using my wife's iPhone. But I still get the same result, an empty white page after hitting reset using Facebook. I installed and tried this all today, maybe this is only a work around for people who had successfully logged in before?

Did you log in to your (fb connected) instagram account on the iphone and then hit "share" on any of your pictures, then select share to facebook? Once you do the share, that will finalize the link between fb and IG.

How to get Instagram on the Z10 and BB10:

1. Open Browser
2. Enter instagram.com as the URL and hit Go
3. Login using your Instagram account
4. View pictures and tap the Heart icon as you go
5. Scroll down to view more pictures

لازم تشبك حساب الانستغرام مع الفيس بوك من اي جهاز ثاني بعدها تدخل من البلاكبيري عالانستغرام وتضغط على forget password وبعدها تضغط على reset by Facebook راح يطلب منك بعدها تدخل بيناتك وترجع بعدها عالانستغرام تدخل باسوورد يديد وراح يشبك انشالله انا جربتها ونجحت الخطة

I realise that most of us here enjoy the BB10 experience via the Z10, but for me, I will not only support BlackBerry when I should, but I will also offer constructive criticism when I feel it is needed.

Right from the start, I have never been comfortable with this whole business of porting or 'sideloading' of Android apps. It makes no sense to me, and regardless of what BlackBerry, Heins, or any of the good people at CrackBerry say, it will never make sense to me.

Why the hell should I settle for a thrid-rate cockamamie experience with Android apps? If I wanted Android apps, I'd have got myself an HTC One at the very minimum - I didn't. If things do not change, I fear for the future of BlackBerry. The US market is not a forgiving one: it is brutish, and very harsh. At the very least, one would have thought that Facebook would have been updated prior to the US launch, but it wasn't.

Does BlackBerry or CrackBerry really think that people would abandon iOS or Android for the useless Facebook experience on the Z10? I appreciate that we ought to support BlackBerry, but we also have a duty to be truthful and honest, and the honest truth is that the quality of certain apps and the absence of many others is a severe handicap. No nice way to say it.

If BlackBerry keeps up with this Android 'sideload' nonsense, then the future, I'm afraid, is bleak.

I did not buy a Z10 to experience a vastly inferior Android experience.

It is a new OS. Apps will come. Instagram I believe will be here. I think app selection is good right now. Then again, I am not app crazy personally. I have side loaded only a few apps and I am happy. Just waiting on Skype and MLB!

I couldn't agree with you more.
BlackBerry really need to pay attention to their users feedback.
The Facebook app is a big concern, after all the time they had they couldn't get Facebook to agree to making their own app?
I was also really looking forward to kindle and as a UK user from day one waited some time for it.
To get an android port was hugely disappointing, native apps run and look great so why would we want an android port with gingerbread icons and menus ruining the experience?

The answer to many issues here is "Just side load It". I'm sorry but that is not a solution we should even have to contemplate.
After the time and effort blackberry said they were putting into attracting devs things should be soo much better.

I also run an ios device as I use two phones, one for work one for pleasure.
Out of the 25 or so apps I have on ios only about 20% are on BB10 and the quality between the two is world's apart.

In the UK blackberry sponsor a TV station on Sky TV, the biggest satellite provider.
Sky offer apps for sports, remote record and TV viewing on other platforms.
They have come out and stated they don't plan to make any apps for BB10, how on earth did blackberry let this happen?
If I was them I would have been using my influence to make this happen!

I love the Z10 experience but as it's been said before apps will be the deciding factor getting non BlackBerry users to move and at the moment they are severely lacking!
I was hoping the US release was going to change things but sadly they missed that boat to.

When we go down the road of gleefully supporting the 'porting' of Android apps, then I'm afraid something has terribly gone wrong. I believe it actually makes BlackBerry a laughing stock because developers would naturally want to follow the path of least resistance by going the lazy route.

BB10 users should not have to endure this nonsense. We shouldn't.

FINALLY!!!!!! Got it to work. You do need another device(iphone/ipod/android) to get ur account linked with FB b4 you can go thru with the steps.

I have been an Android user and fan for so long, but i swear to God the BB10 OS is awesomeeee..my daily driver at the mo. I've relegated my HTC One X as my backup phone. Keep up the good work BB!

For those who have the error please try again message you have to have your Instagram account linked to Facebook!!

To do this follow these steps:
1- Log in to your Instagram account via an Android or iPhone
2- Tap the settings button in the top right hand corner
3- Tap Share Settings
4- Then select Facebook (It'll ask you to log in to your Facebook account)

Once you done those steps try the post's step then it should work.

I agree with those who have said, why do I need IG?
1) There are many alternate ways to send photos to your pals (last but not least, snail mail).
2) Folks who adopted internet based communication have learned, if not already, IG, FB, twitter, Linkedin, and similar services, are prone to email address harvesting.
I only have one such account, to which I assigned a designated email account. Now, 99% of the email received on that account is spam.

I couldn't get it working. I had it working before but for some reason, I accidentally uninstalled Instagram from my Z10 and re-installed a copy of the Instagram BAR file from Goodereader which was posted March 23, 2013 (Saturday) and I couldn't log in. It just gave me a message saying that my version's outdated and I need to update it from the Play store. Seems like Facebook just doesn't want BlackBerry 10 users to be able to use the app and blocked it. What do I do?

Here's a better ways to fix the problem get a phone that can down load the app with out sideloading or android porting seem like blackberry doesn't have basic apps that every other smart phone on the market has you can say who needs this app or I have no use for it but the fact is blackberry get any native apps that every one is using

OK, for those who still have trouble with this i found another solution which requires only FlipBoard app,
All you need to do is sideload the flipboard app onto your z10 then> go to the very top of the app theres a search symbol click on it> there you will search instagram> add to flipboard> sign in and your golden. You can view, Like and Comment But you cant upload or get notifications which suxs but if your looking for a way to at least do those three things give it a shot and let me know what happens.

Instagram was working really nice but the bugs problem made it more complicated. Now you can sign in with Facebook account but you will loose the data of previous account.:( people will love Z10 more if the developers add android apps like instagram, viber, Skype etc.

I am using BlackBerry Z10 and I love it. I get my emails, updates on Facebook etc . Now WhatsApp is available which is really looks Owesome with different look.

Appreciated BlackBerry team.

The touch sensitivity is more advance then previous devices.
