Until next year and the release of BlackBerry 10 we are kind of limited to really good games on the BlackBerry smartphone OS. Every so often one crops up that I like and that happened this week with Hostile Skies. There is a free edition as well as a premium one (only $0.99) and it is surprisingly good fun.
You control a plane and your mission is to destroy the enemies. Controls are nice and easy - just use the optical trackpad to move the plane and the spacebar will fire your weapon - simple.
It isn't as easy as it sounds though. Not only do the enemy fire back at you but you will also find some kamikaze pilots who are more than happy to destroy you - so you must use your ninja like reflexes to dodge them - I am still learning that bit! Hostile Skies is a great little game. I suggest you give it a try. It's kind of addictive.
Features of the game include:
- 2 game areas (land and seaside)
- 3 kinds of enemies (planes, kamikaze pilots, battleships)
- 2 types of weapons
- Well-engineered physics and behavior of enemies
- Simple control, easy to use both for right-handed and left-handed

I don't mind admitting that I don't turn on my BlackBerry Bold 9900 as often as I should, but that's because...

For Z10 and Z30 owners running BlackBerry 10.2.1 you may be interested to hear that one of my all time favorite games is now available to download - F18 Carrier Landing Lite. It's the Android version, hence the 10.2.1 part, but it works perfectly and is totally awesome if simulator games are your thing. With this being the 'Lite' version of the game it is of course free. I've...
