The Hockey News Application Gets A Update

Here's some news for all you Hockey-loving BlackBerry fans out there. The Hockey News application for BlackBerry devices has seen a great update recently and I have to say this is a really, really nice update. This is NOT your typical launcher application that just simply redirects you too the mobile version of the site. No folks, this is a really nice application with a great UI that looks awesome on your device and functions amazingly with automatic updates to avoid any load times so you get the news you want, when you want it.

Some of the new features in this update include:

  • Live Scores While Games Are Still Underway.
  • Skater And Goalie Standings Updates.
  • Division And Conference Statistics.
  • Rich Media From Around Hockey News.

Make sure to refresh the download page to get the newest version. The orginal 2.1.1 does not work, the 2.3.6.0 works fine

Anyone have a direct link to the download page? I can't open the d/l page on my Storm.

Folks,

As Carboss stated the latest version works fine on the storm, it's labeled as the Bold version. You should disable compatibilty mode for perfect functionality. From the home screen go to options, then Advanced, then Applications. Select The The Hockey News App, then click the Blackberry key and then select disable compatibitity mode. There after the app works GREAT!

hey all, the install link on thn.mobi just keeps looping me back to thn.mobi on my Storm via the normal Browser.

any ideas?

It's the 9000 (Bold) link, but works fine. Just disable compatibility mode as mentioned elsewhere ..

Go to http://www.thn.mobi from your BB browser and you can select the 9000 series version there.

I've emailed them about a Storm version, but haven't gotten a response yet.

Just a loop on my Storm as well. Can't get anything to download.

I entered the URL on my Storm and it said it was not compatible. Is this true?

Hey Guys-

We're working on full Storm support for THN right now, but the live app works well for 8700 to Bold devices.
Please let us know what you think of the experience!

I upgraded this today.. and can't register me email... it was working fine before this... error i get is "java.io.interruptedioexception: local connection timed out after ~ 30000"
I am really looking forward to this application... hope to get it working soon..

That just isn't stable on the Storm. My keyboard stays up and the touch screen won't react.

That was the exact instruction set I needed...wow

Now if they would just throw in a stream on NHL Center Ice I would stop leaving work early when the Sharks travel East.

This makes me love the THN app even more than I did before! As a huge hockey fan, my Christmas just came early. Awesome update THN!!

I have upgraded to the latest version of The Hockey News mobile but I cannot open the program.
I get the error message: error starting
hockeynews_mobile:
Symbol 'CoverageInfo.is CoverageSufficient' not found.
Does anyone know what I can do? Is it compatible with the Pearl?

I just downloaded THN, but I get no scores or updates. I can see the list of games for that night and the previous night, but no scores or scoring summaries. Any ideas? Is it a settings problem?

For those asking it does work on the Storm. I have the Storm and just added it last night and had no problems getting to the d/l page from my Storms browser

Its a fantastic app, highly recommend it
