Here comes the Android port-a-thon
Calling all Android developers! RIM is hosting yet another port-a-thon in a few weeks to help you get your Android applications ported over to BlackBerry 10! The event is on January 11, 2013 and runs for 36 hours. It's a virtual event so you can login from anywhere you want - your bed, your couch or even your couch bed. Best of all? You can get $100 for each approved app and also be entered to win a BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha. Not too shabby! Hit up the link below for all the details.

Can the developer make a version of word with friends that doesn't lock up all the time?

I hate android ports! I wish the old RIM execs never would have used that as an easy way out. I purchase/use native apps only. No offense to those porting their apps, they just don't run as well as the native apps do.

I think you'd be surprised once you see them running on BB10. . .

WordHero and Tiny Birds run very well on PlayBook.

BB10 is doing great with android integration, now that the Gold SDK is ready, things should be even better!

Can CB update the PB image to OS2+?

$100 per approved app?
That's pretty good. How long does it take to port over? 2 or 3 hours?

I also hate android ports. They don't just run poorly, they look second rate as well. I can't believe RIM is paying for them. I avoid the ports as much as I can, and I wish they were identified as such in Crapp World.

IT IS NOT CRAPP WORLD.

Yay bring on the flashlights and wallpaper collections for an easy buck! :/
BerryClever Dec 22, 2012 at 12:32 pm
No more Android apps please! I realize BB10 needs apps, but lets try to get QUALITY apps that are MADE for the specialized OS.
Rootbrian Dec 23, 2012 at 5:56 am
Apps are APPS. It doesn't matter if they're ported, OR native.
Learn to appreciate. And STOP CALLING IT CRAPPWORLD!!! IT'S BLACKBERRY WORLD!!!!!!!
Damn.

Bring the Android apps and as many as we can get. Android is one of the most popular OS's on the planet and if we can get it on our Playbooks to get more sales and success to RIM, then BRING IT.
